Yes, I do know this is a few years ago, but first great review. The only thing I would like to add is we had this unit installed by Best Buy a large computer,camera company and they are required to mount the camera behind the mirror so the driver is not distracted looking at the screen, the tech did not turn on the back camera (there is a tiny on-off switch ON so the wife was not aware the split screen was on. Luckily we never had a major issue. Thanks again for the great video.

Thanks for the review this is my first dash cam V1 4K I plugged it into my computer and followed your video and while different it is basically the same and I agree it is a decent camera for the price

Now that being said I had got this cause my old dash cam went out. I had this installed in my GMC Sierra for a year before it killed my truck battery (it recorded 24/7)....I didn’t have the voltage protector. Oops but I haven’t had any issues with the camera. Caught my teenage daughters stalker stalking my house in the middle of the night. Wrong way highway driver that I almost meet head on.
I got a new truck and it no longer records 24/7 and I have a camper shell on the back so it blocks the rear camera but I can still get video in the case of rear ending
This is an excellent, thorough review. It's straight to the point and detailed. One thing I don't quite understand regarding the loop recording and overwriting of videos. How long before a video is overwritten? If I don't save a clip because it didn't seem important at the time and then a week later I realize there may be something useful on there, can I go back and get it?

Great review. As a result, I also go the same model of the dual dashcam installed it in my Lexus E350. It works well EXCEPT facing an issue with AM radio station interference. In some case, it was so bad that I wasn’t able to hear the radio. I tried to rerun the back cable to have it drop direct down to the backseat instead of running across the top of back window. It did not help to resolve the issue. I then bought a cable interference shield for the cable and put it on, it was in vain.
Wonder if you experienced the same AM radio interference issue ? How did you resolve it ?
You are sick, dude! Guess there's a reason why you have almost 15,000 subscribers. No surprise there. The instructions couldn't have been better. Understood everything you said and everything you did. Definitely going to Best Buy later this morning. Have always said I was going to buy one tomorrow and tomorrow never got here and believe it or not, I had an accident in an IKEA parking lot earlier this afternoon. The woman was on the wrong side of her parking lane and when I pulled out to go to the next lane to check for parking, I hit her because she was trying to make a sharp left turn into the parking lane I was pulling out from. I got out and told her that she was in the wrong lane and she told me "it doesn't matter. You weren't paying attention and hit me." Hopefully GEICO will take care of her. Also hoping like crazy that there are security cameras in the parking garage. If so, GEICO will really scold her, I am sure. Thanks again for your review. Sooooooooo much appreciated!
Would you upload raw 1080p footage in 2k or 4k format so we can see this with the least amount of compression
I have a v1p 4k. Don't know if this is newer or older but like it so far.
Do you use the suction mount? I have had a bad experience with the mounting "tape". It separates from the plastic mounting piece in the summer (regardless of what adhesive tape I use).
Have you found the 4k much better than using the dual config? I was thinking of getting two V1P and installing them on the front and rear windows, so they each get 4K. Is that a dumb idea?
I'm curious, do you have a preference for recording resolution and why? I just got mine and am curious, thanks
The recording light on the REC button flashes red sometimes and will change color while blinking to a purple-ish color. Do you have any idea what this means? Thanks for this review.
The hard wiring kit for the rex camera says it has battery drain cutoff at 11.7V. Do you know if that is correct? Or does the "battery drain prevention hardwire" by auto vox need to be purchased instead? (Or is that for some other equipment ie, GPS logger?)
For gravity sensitivity setting, what is best so it won't miss a crash or someone hitting your car?
Great video! My vehicle has a hidden USB port in the center console. Do you think that would work to power the camera via mini usb to the USB port hidden in the center console? I know I can get the cable ran there and it be completely hidden. I feel like that would be easier than doing the hardwiring kit and I don’t like the look of the bulky plug the camera comes with and it being out in plain view. I just wasn’t sure if a USB port would supply enough power for the camera. Thanks in advance for your help!

I just received the pro version of this camera. This thing is huge and anything but stealthy, lol.
In case anyone doesn't know, the GPS logger function is useless unless you have a computer with internet . I don't and only use the internet on my phone, so the videos won't playback at all in the the GPS player you have to download.
The wifi, is almost useless. Some times, it will not show up in the list of networks, it works much better than the wifi on the v1p, but still, once in a while, it just won't connect. And that has nothing to do with the app your using, it just doesn't get picked up by the phone sometimes.
My version came with parking mode, which isn't listed on their site for this model, but they've updated it. You must purchase their smart hardwire kit to use it though. As someone mentioned, it does say that that hardwire kit is NOT FOR THIS CAMERA, but as they've now included the parking mode, it is indeed the kit to use. Rexing isn't very good at updating info on their site at all.
I couldn't use the parking mode because no matter how I set the sensitivity, every little movement set it off and locked the recordings, opening and closing the door, it even would turn on from me adjusting my rear view mirror, no kidding. For those who want to know, that hardwire kit has a cutoff when your car battery reaches 11.6 volts , but from what I read, that is way too low for a car battery to be too be considered good.
If you use the WDR, you get better video in the day, but at night, it's horrible, washing everything out, I had to turn off the WDR .
As mentioned, these cameras need a polorizing filter, rexing told me they are in the process of offering them, I hope they hurry.
Hi am planning for my first dash cam. Which one is better v1 or v3 third generation and which card I can use. Is 16 GB card is enough which comes along with if not then what you suggest. And what's the life spans of these dashcams as I need a reliable dashcam who can serve me for couple of years. If you suggest any other dashcam which is reliable I can also go for it. Plz let me know.
It's a good review but how heavy is the camara cause the one I got it's so lite it feels fake and sheep can u put that on your video
I bought a Samsung PRO Endurance MicroSD card to try with this camera. I got it because it has up to 25X the endurance compared to other MicroSD cards from what they say.
The only problem I saw with the card is that it isn't Class 10. I just got this camera though and I'll be sure to update this if the 64GB Samsung PRO Endurance fails in performing well in the V1P 3rd Gen (especially since it isn't even a U3 Class 10 card)
Class 10 card means it should be able to write at minimum 10 Mbps, Samsung PRO Endurance card write around 35 Mbps in my test. Samsung claim that you can record continuous 4K video. UHS 1 cards are faster than Class 10. I'm using two of these cards recording at 2K (1440p), no problem so far.
Have a question regarding the hard wire kit that you used in this review. In the item description on amazon mentioned this hard wire kit is NOT intended to be used with the Rexing V1LG, V1P 3rd Gen, or V1P Pro. Is that true?
@@akqjtn Yes i clicked it. you can see it in the first bullet point, has a NOTE section, by saying its not supported to V1P 3rd Gen and V1P Pro.
got the V1p 3rd generation version and for some reason when I connect to its WIFI, I don't have live stream. I can see the recorded videos. Any sugestions? I downloaded two apps in my iphone 7+ "TimaCam" and "Rexing Connect" but both does not show the live stream.

I've been shopping for a dash cam. This was a great review. One feature I'm looking for is the motion camera. Any recommendations? I've read reviews on several brands and models , and the census seems to be they only last a couple weeks to a couple months.
I live in a hot state. So it would need to be able to withstand high temperatures.
Any help would be appreciated
Are you referring to a dash cam which has motion detection capabilities?

@@peteniemela9900 in general you need a cam that has capacitor(s) to withstand the heat. I have used motion detection for months in Malaysian whether and so far my viofo A129 duo has held up.
What I'd suggest you look forward to is buffered parking mode which should be coming soon by a firmware update. This way you dont have to watch every video.
Beware that some cams have motion detection for use only when you drive the car (which is not a good idea in reality as it can be hit or miss).
Some cams also have a delay from the initial event that triggers motion detection, so you could be left with the car or person leaving the scene (if you're lucky) or nothing at all.
I always remove mine (main camera not rear) if my car will be in the Hot Sun all day. I know this eliminates the parking coverage but I want my camera to last a long time.
How does the auto power off function work on this camera? I've had two different brands of dash cams, each with auto power off, and neither one of the function as described. Thanks.
Auto power off can be set by a timer or by the voltage protection (if you use the hardwiring kit). Hope this helps?
When you have it in photo mode how do you take a photo.
How do I see the rear view camera? I only see the forward camera.

Great video! As I mentioned on your Hardwire Install video, I got me a Rexing V1P 3rd Generation after watching this video. It came down to this or the
AUKEY Dual Dashcam. Your video made me choose the Rexin. Although about $50-$60 more. With that being said, I have a couple of questions for you. When you were discriving the Gravity Sensing, you didn't mention which setting to put it on. I've seen other reviews for other DashCams and they suggested setting it to Low. Which would you recomend and why? Also, when it comes to the WiFi. Does this DashCam create a HotSpot? I thank you in advance and as I mentioned before, if you don't do this for a living, you should! Detailed, precise video. Great job!

Many recommend setting the G-sensor to low or medium because high sensitivity might detect pot holes, speed bumps or rumble strips as impact which will fill your emergency recording folder up (until you manually delete).
I leave mine on medium as pot holes have not triggered it thus far.
Low might be a good option for rough drivers or bad roads.

Bought this, video was pretty good, but the connection to the phone was impossible! Took it back and got the Thinkware U1000, WAY BETTER!

So if it is connected in the 12V adapter of the car and once you park and leave your car it will not record bc it has no power if I'm understanding correctly?
that depends on the car you drive. some autos supply power to the adapter and others don't. easy to know just shut your car off and wait.
What's the point of the GPS??
How was it connecting to the wifi? I think many customers are struggling with that.

I bought this with the recommended micro SD (Kingston 128 canvas react) I keep getting memory errors. tried everything, I'll try the samsung microsd, if that doesn't work, i'm returning it. I can't believe it's that senstive to certain kinds of micro SD
So far this memory card works and no errors!!, I've bought 2 of these micro SD cards.

That is confusing when they advertise the Gen 3 as only being 1080p, but it is higher if only the single camera is used, but the 4K is not true 3840x2160 4k and only 24 fps which is useless for moving objects like cars, I would go for the 1440p x 30fps.
Yeah, show examples of parking mode
Do NOT mount the second (rear ) camera near your XM radio antenna. The camera will cause your XM to cut out or stop working Rexing has NO cure for this except mounting the camera further from the antenna. I had to mount mine just above the rear window brake light.
