its been solid. got a kit to hook it up to my fuse panel in my 2014 focus and it picks everything up. neighbor hit my car and denied it and the cam picked it up. quality is good enough for driving around and shit - if you keep it at the max settings, its enough to get plates if need be. great bang for your buck, shits still going strong.

I got to be installed with hardwire kit. Good information and easier to understand than reading manual. With the aggressive drivers and road rage may be a life saver in court if I need to defend myself.

Thank you for the video. Clear, concise, and to the point without a bunch of monologuing. Weird to release a new camera with 4k capabilities, and put a USB plug on it that's WAY out of date. Stuff made today should have USB-C, but micro USB is also acceptable. Mini-USB is oldskool.
i think the reasoning is that theres so many other devices for the car that uses a MINI-USB plug so it makes sense to make it mini so the user can reuse cables or have a potential replacement on hand.

If I were to buy this, I'd have to rewire the hardwire I ran years ago that I rewired because I upgraded from a camera with mini USB. Mini is disappearing, but I'd imagine somewhere out there I could find a micro to mini adapter.

This is the best video on this camera, but you should have put 4K Max in your Title as I have been looking for a video on this model but I did not stop at this one because it only says V1P 4K, not the Max but anyway I have found it now and you have covered a lot of things that nobody else covered. You didn't mention if the V1P max has the ability to do a 20 sec video from battery, if the car is hit while parked. At least one other video suggested that this is the case. The overall manual is poor. Thanks Again
Great video! I just ordered one of these. Just out of curiosity, how does the auto shutoff work? The accessory plug (cigarette lighter) in my vehicle is always "on". Does the camera detect that movement has stopped, or do I need to unplug it each time I exit the vehicle?

Excellent review; loved it. Camera is good too. Just wondering if there was a way to change the default FONT they use for the on-screen date/time/GPS Coordinates. Rexing uses a very generic font compared to very professional looking used by GARMIN.
This is a pretty good cam. I've been using one for years. And the GPS logger works pretty good too. Unfortunately, the GPS Logger software from Rexing does not work correctly on Windows and MAC machines. This has been reported for over four years, and Rexing has not fixed it. If you just want a decent dash cam that will play on MP4 players, this cam will work.
How do you record a long video. Like a drive that took an hour. Do you have to put all the three minute clips together or is there a different setting? If so, will it fill the card and then start overwriting? Thanks.

The news media is spotlighting this camera for door dashers getting robbed. This Dasham doesn't appear to look inside the car at all for these reasons. Appears to be only for accidents?
Are there cameras that are sensors? Say your car is parked and someone walks up to it, a camera that would start recording it. Not just when it gets hit by a car while parked

i just bought this camera i love how it records but the app for the phone really sucks..... very slow to the point that i gave up trying to mess with it.... any advice?
So with the good sd card I can record a whole 10 or 11 hour work shift without stopping? And if so how many work shifts can I store before it starts to slow it down? I'd Appreciate any input on that. Thank you in advance
Also, if the camera needs to be on same wifi as your phone to use the app, how can you use the app on the phone if you are out driving? Usually not on wifi while you driving.
You have that backwards, it's the phone that has to be on the same network as the camera (the network that the camera broadcasts) in order for wifi to work.
How good is this camera for license plate capture? I have had four hit and run accidents in 2 years. I'm looking for something that I can easily get the license plate without chasing them down.
I purchased a V1P Max, based on this excellent video. I am pretty annoyed with Rexing however, as It is not made clear at all that the unit itself cannot be plugged in directly to a PC to download/ view files etc. Despite them including a USB cord for this purpose and the quick guide showing it can be ! Contacted Rexing who say no it cannot be so tough luck! The only options are to use the App ( which sucks) or remove the SD card which would require buying an additional USB / Micros SD card reader for my PC. very deceptive of Rexing. I will be returning due to this & the terrible customer support shown by Rexing.
Linus Tech Tips did a major evaluation on dash cams earlier this year, covering cameras from many different manufacturers across all price tiers, down to disassembly and inspecting the actual circuitry. In summary, Linus concluded that the technology is an utter disappointment. Regardless of price, virtually all of the cameras from all the tested manufacturers all used the exact same image sensor. This means that image quality is essentially equal regardless if you spend $50 or $500. These cameras should have evolved by now to be on par with at least 5yr old GoPro cameras. But they haven't.
Thankfully I haven't NEEDED it yet, however there is a slight delay from the hit and the recording so there is a chance you might not catch a would be hit&run. I think I'm gonna test that and make a video...
Quick question, when you start recording manually, does it start from a few seconds earlier then when you pressed the button? Or say a crash happened and you press the button after the crash, does the video start from a few seconds before you pressed the button so that you can see before the crash happened?

Thanks, honestly I would take mini over micro any day, but yeah type c should be the ONLY standard now.

The fact this camera offers 60fps is great. Finding so many other cameras that lock it at 30fps at all resolutions.

Can you set it up so when you park it auto goes into parking mode and time laps or is that something you have to do every time you park?
Rexing along with the left and right arrows, should also put up and down arrows on the buttons that provide that function.

If you had to pick 1for front and rear setup from the V1P MAX and the V5 which one would you select?
V5 if you do ridesharing or need coverage inside of vehicle. V1P is well suited for exterior coverages for the price.

Dashcam stays plugged in. The capacitors are only good to keep the camera on long enough to finish the current recording and turn off.

Unfortunately the rexing app is not that great and trying to open up or log on to with wifi through the camera is a constant ( can't connect to wifi)
