Alan's insight into professional DH racing is second to none ! This was fantastic insight to what lies in store to what will be a drastically different 2025 season..
Another great blog/vlog. Well worth the viewing. Thanks forsharing. Only ever see Alan from a distance when we have been to races. Never met him, but heard loads and it would be great to get the knowledge he has with regards getting the best out of souls, especially the DH and enduro riders.
Thanks, glad you're enjoying it. We have some older audio only episodes with Alan where we go a bit more into rider performance. Head over to my website and you'll find them there.
Awesome episode Chris 👍🏻 You guys covered exactly what we want to hear. Alan is always a top bloke and your research and production is first class 👌 Thanks, and keep up the great work mate. (new hoodie ordered too 😬)
Great episode! Would be really cool to have both Danny hart and reece Wilson on the podcast in the build up to the season starting, feel they would both be interesting due to big changes for both of them
Always good listening to what Milway has to say. I feel like the Commencal/Mucoff team is what happens when Max has a few too many red wines of an evening and goes internet shopping.
If I had any clarify on what their team line up was going to be for 2025 then we would have, but I’ve not even managed to find any particularly solid rumours. Do you know who’s riding for them?
@ yeah, I've heard literally nothing about who's going to be on Pivot, which seems kinda strange. I'm interested to see what happens with the team this year.
So if the New Zealand race was a test it was a failure it appears. Only 4 elite female riders it appears. All junior female riders. In a country where training can occur this time of the year.
Gear boxes and belt drives on production bikes are unnecessary. Too heavy, too expensive and if belt drives are so great, then it wouldn’t need to be enclosed in a case. Money talks but if that £100k wasn’t available then belt drives wouldn’t be a big thing? Great on single speed only
maybe the teams chasing the money drives the tech forwards and the evolution includes things becoming lighter and maybe ultimately even cheaper... let's see
I disagree, to design develop and manufacture a gearbox bike exceeds the prize money anyway. Having just started riding a zerode g3 I can say the expense is negligible, the weight is in the right place and there are real world benefits to a belt and a lighter real wheel /unsprung weight. Good video of the Atherton team comparing thier gearbox and regular bikes doing chase laps also.
So which team are you most excited to follow this season???
All the belt drive teams. So interesting to see that development
@@thestrengthfactory. 100% Can't wait to see if they really can bring some decent advantages. Exciting stuff.
Always the one with Vergier, but a whole bunch of teams for different reasons.
@ ha, which other ones are you rooting for?
No one does it like BK Sports.

Glad you enjoyed it. Alan knows his stuff eh!
Excited to see how Reece & Aon do, especially interested to see what Hattie can do.
Agreed, that’s a cool project and Hattie focussing on DH will be really interesting.

@@downtimepodcast Thank you
@ my pleasure
Awesome episode! You couldn't have picked a better guest to break down this subject.
thanks Rob, glad you appreciate it
AON is the team I’m looking forward to seeing most this year, bikes look so incredibly planted and quiet
I don't think you're alone mate, there are going to be a lot of eyes on that team for sure!
ah the video/pod I've been waiting for, popcorn at the ready!
Yes mate! Let’s goooooo

Thanks Steve, that was the plan... and you legent, thanks for the support!

I'm with you on that, they both have invites, let's see...
@ will be keeping my eyes peeled!
Only change I want to hear about is in the commentary booth
😂
Wonderful lighting in the new set up. Good job
Thanks, that's very kind. There are a few things I'm not happy with that need sorting, but it's a good step forwards I think. Appreciate you noticing!

Ha, that is funny as... and probably bang on!
TY Chris! Stuck on the trainer inside,1 degree F outside, Downtime keeping the fire stoked🔥
Yes Michael, that’s what we like to hear!
Desperately hoping for the full 360 panoramic of Martin in a speedsuit, now. 😂
Ha, start the campaign now.
Shame you did not touch on Pivots program. Probably the funnest team to follow on the circuit.

@@downtimepodcast All I know is that the Jewett brothers are gone to Giant. Was hoping for more insights from you. Great team coverage by the way.
@ yeah, I've heard literally nothing about who's going to be on Pivot, which seems kinda strange. I'm interested to see what happens with the team this year.
If the belt is a problem, couldn't the gearboxes be run with regular chains? I mean that's the exciting tech, not the belts.
Yes, I'm sure that would be feasible and could be a safer option for when it's muddy. It will be fun to watch the technology evolve this season.
of course we'll see Rachel win on the belt-drive. 1st stage.😅
You think Rach will make the comeback for this prize?

The biggest shame for me is the lack of coverage of that race, it would be nice to see a bit more from it.
return martin his title back

@@jamesrouse1964 great to hear the flip side here
I’d like to see a gearbox and belt drive on a few e-bikes and no it’s not called a motorcycle!
@@gingerb36 I'd agree, a great fit on an ebike and combine the motor with the gearbox
