That was a good call not cycling the Landing gear if you were sure the gears were down and locked. No sense in taking the risk of LG malfunctioning the second time. 👍
Those flickering green lights when the gear was trying to come up really jumped out on the video, I was like “uh oh”. VERY glad gear locked back down and you made it back safe! So cool to have videos like this with professional pilots dealing with things that come up. Thanks for the video!
Anytime we had somewhat a little more than routine maintenance we used to bring along the technician who released the plane from the shop on the first test flight. Another great video from Rich👍 Thanks for let me (again) tag along on this short flight.
Yeah - often our service guys go along. Usually if there was a specific fix or issue we are working. In this case, it was just routine inspection so didn’t feel we needed anyone. Thanks for watching.
It's a good thing you had someone taping your flight so you could show maintenance exactly what was happening in the cockpit. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos for us!!!!!
Good video always helps mx guys. With phones now so easy to do that now, but having Kai board filming made it really solid video of the whole thing. Thanks for watching.
How come you are so calm, composed all the time man. how you remember to fly all these different kind of airplane so easily. You got problem with landing gear and you treated like nothing. One time my engine start making some weird sound due to carb ice or something and I was in pattern still cause me so much panic.. Hats off to you!!!

Well done and a good call, it just shows that a good shake down before the customer arrives to pick up his plane that it’s all good and good to go cheers
I may be day and dollar short on this.. If you have not please collaborate with Citation Max and Premier 1. I love both of these aviators.. very good what they do.
My BE-60 had one wing removed at an annual inspection (Beech owned repair shop), when the job was done I asked the head mechanic to fly with me for a circuit or two. He said sure thing! That ride with the mechanic made me feel more comfortable.
Well I “was” going to say you do a post maintenance flight so you can get some hours in the books-ha, then this happens. Made a believer out of me! Good job and good catch!!
That was a good catch, what timing. ^5. Having that happen during the flight saved all kinds of potential problems. And the nerves of steel helped too. Cheers
Looking at the fluid coming from the vent at the nose gear when the techs raised the gear.. it looks like a faulty shuttle valve or the valve was not properly reset after a gear blowdown test.
You are correct. The gear lights were flickering (not the video). I didn’t really see the gear lights flickering until I saw the low hydraulic press annunciation. Clearly they weren’t going to go up so I thought putting down best thing to do. Thanks for watching!
Hey Rich. When did 25 L become 26 L.? A lot of T&g's so 25 is locked in lol. I learned at LGB. My FS was next to the hangar with the accordion door.. Love tour qwiki flight vids.
was it the shuttle valve not reset after a blow down, all the symptoms are there, fluid in the vent line, the brake system also uses the same vent system, so if you did emergency brake check with nitrogen would get a similar result, kind of tip toeing around what was the cause, can you give the reason of the failure?
I disagree. We have a current owner who is 6'4" (not sure his inseam), but he loves the comfort of the Mustang compared with other airplanes he has owned, and flown (a lot of different airplanes). Generally speaking the Mustang does well across the board for cockpit comfort. Thanks for watching!
In the Army 1971 I ran an avionics shop looking after 50 UH-1D's. Anytime we did anything involving more than swapping out a radio the pilot would insist I fly the first flight. I am curious if your maintenance manager was on that test flight. ( A lot of antennas were in the tail and we took it apart at times)
He was not with us but he’s always up to do that if he needs to. This was just normal inspection and we didn’t really do anything so no real need to have him aboard. Thanks for watching.
That was a good call not cycling the Landing gear if you were sure the gears were down and locked. No sense in taking the risk of LG malfunctioning the second time. 👍
I agree - not sure what that would have accomplished. Thanks for watching.

A seasoned experienced pilot will make the ultimate decision on his aircraft and the most accurate one for the situation, Kudos Captain !!!

Rich, you know better than to do a maintenance check flight on Friday the 13th. 😁
Yeah I didn’t think about that!

Thanks for sharing, Rich. That's a great service and a notion that you stand behind your product!
Thank you.
Reminds me of post-maintenance test flights I did in the Navy - several thrills - preflight critical
I bet some thrills in that job! Thanks for watching.
Whoa nelly , gear issues . Cooler than the backside of pillow- nice post maintenance flight Capt'n Rich.
Thank you!
Awesome example of the classic 'aviate, navigate, communicate'
Thank you - training pays off!
Yes, when all seems well, one flight could reveal something unexpected. Gear down and locked don't mess with it, just land. Thanks Rich
Thank you!

Agree! Thanks for watching.
Great customer service!!!!!

Great video Rich. I always learn something on your flights. Thank you.
Thanks - glad to hear that.

Good idea to get the mechanic who did repairs to go with you! Thanks for watching!
When I think about what an aviator is I think of you!
Thank you!
Great job Rich!
Rich thank you on staying ahead of your Aircraft
Thanks Bernard!
Well handled. That High Sierra Mustang is a beaut.
Yeah - I agree beautiful airplane. Thanks for watching!
Great call!
Great ride Rich and enjoy your training

Made a believer out of me!
Good job and good catch!!
Thanks for watching…just kidding! Great to see you guys last week. Look forward to next time!

Absolutely great to see you again and meet you wife as well . . . Our paths will cross gain soon!
That was a good catch, what timing. ^5. Having that happen during the flight saved all kinds of potential problems. And the nerves of steel helped too. Cheers

A wonderful video as always!
Thank you!
Landing gear…landing gear…landing gear… Gear issues have been the bane of my aircraft experience. Good luck with the fix.
Ended up being a pretty easy fix
Great video and good diligence.
Thank you.
I was watching the lights on the indicator thinking maybe its like filming led lights, then you put the gear back down.
You are correct. The gear lights were flickering (not the video). I didn’t really see the gear lights flickering until I saw the low hydraulic press annunciation. Clearly they weren’t going to go up so I thought putting down best thing to do. Thanks for watching!

Love tour qwiki flight vids.
Hard for me to remember but I guess 5 years ago. It was tough for me too but I’m flying there so much new habit came quick. Thanks for the message!
Thanks Rich
Thank you.
awesome video! thanks, I chose the wrong career path, your life looks like so much fun!
Thanks. I definitely still love flying and grateful to get to do it as my job!
Great video, keep on keeping on 😁👍👍
Thank you!
The tower asked if you would like to recycle the gear, he did not say recycle the gear so he could see it in this video, not sure what you heard.
I took it as a question - just didn’t think it was a good idea in that situation. Thanks for watching.
Good call rich
Thank you.
I think the plane is N511TP why did you say 301TP??? 4:52
Good catch! I'm flying too many airplanes. Not sure how I came up with that.
It was actually Cleared to Land 30 (as in runway 30) and then 1 Tango Papa.
Man, I know the tower guy was trying to help, but 3 green vs the rest?? 8( --gary
We have great controllers at Long Beach. He was just trying to offer help which I always appreciate. Thanks for watching!

It was a while back so can't recall for sure, but I remember something simple. Thanks for watching!
I am 6’ 1” with a 32” inseam. I’ve heard the Citation Mustang is not comfortable for tall pilots. Rich, what are your observations on leg room?
I disagree. We have a current owner who is 6'4" (not sure his inseam), but he loves the comfort of the Mustang compared with other airplanes he has owned, and flown (a lot of different airplanes). Generally speaking the Mustang does well across the board for cockpit comfort. Thanks for watching!
The 6’4” client has a 36” inseam.
Things can happen very fast in an aircraft.
Thanks for watching!
👍🏻😎 No room for superstition in the cockpit.
Could not agree more!
Sir how many maintenance cost per year
Many variables - engine programs are $400/hour which includes all engine maintenance. I would budget $35-$45K/year for
Do you hire aircraft engineers rich❤️
We don’t. We are sales and service. Thanks for watching.
👍
Better not to go up......
That’s for sure! Looks like just didn’t have the hydraulic pressure to bring them up.
