    Chuck and all, ACH money transfers using Bangkok Bank NY routing number will be discontinued in April 2019. Alternate methods include TransferWise account or Swift. Costs will increase I am sure.

    Hey chuck I bring my bike to Thailand all the time in a bike bag. It counts as part of my check in luggage and doesn’t cost me any extra.The name of the bag is evoc and I highly recommend it.You just dump the bag off at oversized baggage counter and pick it up from the same at the other end of the journey.

    Hi Chuck, Debbie and I love your blogs. With the backing of your lovely wife and family you're doing a great job. We subscribe because we want to learn about Thailand Thai people, and language. We hope to visit soon and maybe retire. Your lifestyle blogs are very educational for us, especially when you explain conversational Thai language. BTW please don't worry about those who would point out errors in your English pronunciation, or your accent. Long live the difference!

    Thank you for another great post, as always, Chuck.
    Informative, useful, entertaining and totally lacking in BS.
    By the by, your comment about how we Australians are often incomprehensible made laugh.
    It's happened to me quite a lot with English speakers from other nations, and I know my diction/intonation/pronunciation is (are?) very good.
    Keep up the great work and I hope our paths cross when we move over there.

    Hi Chuck. About the language issue "Vietnamese". Englisch is not my first language. In 1980 I learned English in New York. I understand your English extremely well. It is a big advantage for people like me that you talk not so fast. I have much more problems to understand people from England. Don't change anything about your language it is perfekt how it is. There was a place in Germany that had to put in a tunnel but the other way around - for the frogs to cross underneath the road. When they would migrate in large groups the carnage was so bad that the road got slippery and it was dangerous.

    I have BOA in the U.S and BKK bank account here in Thailand. Just go into your BKK bank and use ATM card if you need to transfer 65,000 THB for retirement. Then, BKK will put in your BKK account and you can easily use your BKK Bank Book to show 65,000 transferred from your account in the U.S monthly.

You often say things like: "I talked about Visas in a previous video....." or I've talked about taking a Thai partner to your country. HEY CHUCK AND PAIGE, FIRST OF ALL THE ANSWERS IS "NO." THE QUESTION IS "DO AUSTRALIANS SPEAK ENGLISH?" MY LAST TRIP TO AUSTRALIA A GUY HANDED ME A 3 OR 4 PAGE PAMPHLET WITH ENGLISH WORDS IN ONE COLUMN AND THE AUSTRALIAN EQUIVALENT IN THE NEXT. SO I ASKED HIM "IF YOU KNOW WHAT THE WORD WAS WHY DON'T YOU GUST USE IT?" HE PUT HIS HANDS ON HIS HIPS AND LOOKED ME IN THE EYE AND SAID " BECAUSE WE'RE AUSTRALIAN ". I HAD TO AGREE WITH THAT.
    THINK ABOUT IT. WE IN AMERICA DON'T SPEAK ENGLISH, WE SPEAK AMERICAN. PEOPLE IN MEXICO DON'T SPEAK SPANISH, THEY SPEAK MEXICAN. BRAZILIANS SPEAK BRAZILIAN AND SO ON. EVEN IN AMERICA WE HAVE 4 OR 5 DIALECTS, LIKE THAT ONE DOWN IN TEXAS AND THE ONE IN NEW YORK, AND LETS NOT FORGET ABOUT CALIFORNIA.
    I DON'T HAVE A BIG PROBLEM THE WAY PEOPLE SAY THINGS, MAINLY BECAUSE I TEND TO BUTCHER MOST OF MY THAI. I DON'T EVEN MIND IT WHEN YOU SAY " KOROT " INSTEAD OF "KORAT". LOL

  • @heretoforeunknown
    @heretoforeunknown 6 років тому +2

    Thanks for speedy reply. Q-how do people send stuff to you/others from states? Does one need export papers for TShirts, Candy, etc? Limit on value? Also, on cars/motorcycles/bikes-You and others claim Thailand imposes very high import duties and fees. When you buy the same transportation locally, are these import fees built into the price or do authorized dealers pay less to the government?

    • @notime2bsad
      @notime2bsad  6 років тому

      Anything of great value, large quantity, and electronics, could be subjected to tax. They want people to buy in Thailand, and not import to sell. That is the reasoning anyway. People send stuff to us by mail at our address I share in the about section of the home screen. I have never been taxed yet.

    No American bank branches in Thailand? In Saigon VN. there is a Citibank, Chase and HSBC. I have a Chase account here in the States just for using when in VN. Plus also there are many online banks that colaberate with local brick & mortar banks to where you will have account access through an ATM fee free shared network. I say "fee free" but there is always a small cost to cover the conversion rate. No fee for using the ATM. I can use VietComBank (VCB) ATM's anywhere in Vietnam to deposit and withdraw money to my Chase account.

    You may not be aware, Bangkok Bank recently announced they are doing away with the ACH transfer facility that has been so convenient for US expats to use for money transfers, effective April 2019. That fact combined with no longer issuing Visa debt cards (only Union Pay now) is why i will be closing my acct with them. If you plan on staying long term in Thailand, i would choose another Bank.

    • @notime2bsad
      @notime2bsad  6 років тому

      I don't have an account with them anyway........ The Bangkok bank here is no effected by any changes to the US branch. As long as the bank has a routing number I am not sure how this will affect my scenario. You should not bank with them in US anyway, fees too high.

    • @2much2see2
      @2much2see2 6 років тому

      You couldn’t open a personal banking account at the BKK Bank NY even if you wanted too, and the new rules will affect anyone that was using the ACH transfer through BKK Bank NY.
      BKK Bank will still allow direct deposit of Social Security, and private company pensions.

      Chuck, your not understanding, i dont have a US bangkok bank account! Im trying to help your viewers. Im trying to tell you that the provision for using bangkok banks ACH number for making transfers into bangkok bank accounts IN THAILAND is going away except for SS and pension accts.

    • @2much2see2
      @2much2see2 6 років тому

      Sorry for the confusion Chuck. When you do a domestic ACH transfer using the routing number (026008691) BKK Bank NY and the account number of your BKK Bank account in Thailand, your money is routed through BKK Bank NY to your account in Thailand. That’s one of the reasons BKK Bank NY exists. To facilitate transfers of funds to Thailand.

    I was a little taken a back when you mentioned parking your vehicle. Have I been under the mistaken impression that Thailand is safe? Why do your neighbors need a vehicle parked out front to make them feel safe?... especially right there in town. If your vehicle was not there is there a legitimate fear of being attacked in the night by home invaders?

    Hey Chuck very informative as always. Are you still able to transfer money from the USA (Bank of
    America) to Thailand using Bangkok Bank in NYC? I too am from the US and up until the beginning of the year I was doing that process without any problems as well. Now however Bangkok Bank refuses the transfers because my bank (TD Bank) in the USA does not use an IAT format in its ACH transfers. Sooo Im guessing if you are still able to transfer through Bank of America they must use this international transfer format and next time I am back in the US I will open an account there. Any information you could share would be appreciated......Keep those informative videos coming and best to Page........Barry.......

    Using Western Union from my UK account, I send like you to my Bangkok Bank. They do not charge anything as there obviously still making from exchange rate, however you still get a good rate so still cheaper than the bank charges. Also the Visa retirement 800.000baht money can be split into 2, money in bank, plus monthly pension x 12 to equal the 800.000.
    Monthly pension of 45,000 I think if married instead of 65,000 if single. You would think it would be the opposite way round but hay, its Thailand logic. Lol
    Less if your married

    Hi Chuck, Great info. I subscribed to your channel a year or so ago. Question, If the current exchange rate is 33 baht for a dollar in Thailand, what is the rate you receive on the money you transfer, using the BK bank routing number to your Thai bank account?

    • @notime2bsad
      @notime2bsad  6 років тому +2

      The rate always changes determined by the market , but the receiving bank exchanges it at the buying rate. There are many ways to send money. I could send it already converted to Baht also. I am not an expert on the many ways to get good rates. But having a domestic transfer fee helps.

    When you do the money transfer from BAC to Bangkok Bk via your domestic transfer, do the funds sit in your bangkok account in US Dollar or do they automatically exchange to BAht at their designated rate for that day (3 days later)

      Chuck - I tried the transfer method using Bangkok Bank's office in NYC that you mentioned in your previous video. Could not get it done. I was informed by Bangkok Bank that they had suspended this service because the US Treasury Department or Federal Reserve blocked them from treating deposits to a bank account in Thailand as a domestic US transfer. Essentially forced them into compliance with all the international transfer rules that regular US banks have to follow. As a result, they suspended the service for a couple of months.
      It looks like they've reactivated it again, but with the requirement that it be done as an international ACH transaction, not a domestic US ACH transaction. That may mean additional fees by the originating bank sending money to BBL NYC.
      Here is the url for the new US to Thailand transfer info on the BBL website: www.bangkokbank.com/en/Personal/Other-Services/Transfers/Transferring-Into-Thailand/Transfer-money-from-US-to-Thailand-via-Bangkok-Bank-NewYork-branch

    Was just watching your 5 month old video on $ transfers from BofA to your Bkk Bank accnt in Thailand via Bkk Bank , New York. Do you still use this method? I also have BofA account in US and Bkk Bank accnt. here in Thailand but the least expensive transfer option I could find was $35, even though I used the Bkk Bank domestic routing number. Am I missing something? If you have time to elaborate on this I would appreciate it. Thanks much.

      You have to link the accounts together on the BOA website, when adding the account select domestic transfer and answer the questions we use the safe pass card or you can set up the app on your phone. Not sure if this can be done with an overseas phone. We set it up with the safe pass in the US. Add your account number of your Thailand BKK bank and the domestic routing number 026008691. Charges $3.00 and BKK here charges around $10.00

    Great video Chuck. Really enjoy your Q&A videos (actually, we really enjoy all your videos).
    As D RBY mentioned in their post below, BKK Bank is changing this method of transfer.
    Due to requirements of the OFAC, U.S. Department of Treasury, as of April 2019 BKK Bank will require transfers through BKK Bank NY be international ACH (IAT) transfers.
    None of my banks, or banks I’ve contacted (including BOA), know anything about doing IAT transfers. :(
    Also, if you were able to locate a bank that will do the transfers, the same fees that BKK Bank NY and BKK Bank Thailand were charging for the ACH transfers will apply to the ITA transfers.
    Here is a link to the info on the new BKK Bank website (click on “Advice to senders using US bank internet banking services”): www.bangkokbank.com/en/Personal/Other-Services/Transfers/Transferring-Into-Thailand/Transfer-money-from-US-to-Thailand-via-Bangkok-Bank-NewYork-branch

      I am not sure how else to explain it, this something I have done MANY times. BOA money transfer process. Routing number 026008691 is the # I use and my Acc# here. THAT is IT. MAGIC domestic transfer to my bank in Thailand with 0 interaction with NY branch, only there routing #. PLEASE just do what is easy for you. Oh yes magically the site with the correct info is down. not the one you are sharing that is transfer VIA NY branch. I am just sharing my experiences!

      When you do your transfers the way you are doing them, your funds are routed through BKK Bank NY to your bank in Thailand. That’s why you are using the BKK Bank NY routing number.

    How do you get the routing number for Bangkok Bank in the US?

    • @notime2bsad
      @notime2bsad  6 років тому

      I shared a website with instructions, this where some of the confusion came from people assuming I used an account from the NY branch to send money along with there fees. You don't need an account there to send money from your US bank to your Bangkok bank in Thailand. www.bangkokbank.com/BangkokBank/PersonalBanking/DailyBanking/TransferingFunds/TransferringIntoThailand/ReceivingFundsfromUSA/Pages/ReceivingFundsfromUSA.aspx

      Hmmm Thailand is noisy and the houses are open mostly in the tropics..... It is quite in the small villages, unless chickens are a problem for you.
