    Great work. I really appreciate all your videos, everything explained perfectly.
    In each there is something new to discover, jigs, tools and how to use them.
    Also special thanks for showing the right way to use the fret dressing file.

    I would like to learn to try the compensated nut method you do. I've watched many of your videos. Perhaps one day we can chat. Nice play along at the end. Thanks for sharing. And walnut is cool.

    I own a 2014 Gibson J-15 and it’s fantastic I replaced the frets with super jumbo stainless steel frets and a bone nut and compensated saddle and put a Tiger stripe pickguard locking tuners my guitar sounds unbelievable great

      @OLX kidstaff love my Locking Tuners my J-15 is an awesome sounding guitar it would never have a neck dive problem…no weight problems even with my rolling capo on

    • @bastardsonofretkillr
      @bastardsonofretkillr 3 роки тому +1

      @OLX kidstaff you could be 100% right but I still like locking tuners on most of my guitars because if I had to change strings as much as I need to….I wouldn’t I’m lazy as hell lol 😂 so the advantage of the weight VS the ease of quick string changes my guitars suffer with unchanged strings….so we are both right lol 😂 if you look at my photo I’m playing my 1937 Martin 0-17 the tuners are original Grovers open tuners that’s staying on my Martin I’m 67 years old now that’s me in 1973ish

      I have a 2014 J-15 Gibson great guitar! What bridge pins do you use or recommend that will fit without adjustments to my bridge and be easier to grab hold and pull out on string changes? My original pins seem to be too far recessed and they are hard to grasp with my bridge puller. I noticed yours do not look like the originals. Please advise where to find. Thank you 🙏

    Some interesting carving on the J45 bracing. I bet that J15 pick-up sounded a whole lot better with a properly fitted saddle.

    • @StringTechWorkstations
      @StringTechWorkstations  3 роки тому

      When I got the guitar, there was no battery in the bag.... so obviously, the guy couldn't use it. So he was just playing it acoustically. Yes ! The bracing was pretty well identical to the much more expensive J-45 "Vintage".

    Great job MIke as usual. You know, it would be great if you ever have time to put out some of the looped arpeggios you play to 'blow over' as you put it. I for one could have hours of fun just doing that, but even though I have a pretty decent looper, whenever I intend to do so I just can't think what to play and loop.

    I have a 2017 Gibson J-15, I am relatively new to guitar playing and am wondering what is the reason for installing the compensated nut, is it to improve intonation? thanks

    Excellent job as usual Michael. Why am I always left with the impression that Gibson is sloppy right out of the factory?

    • @StringTechWorkstations
      @StringTechWorkstations  Рік тому

      Thanks David. It wasn't my intention to leave you with that impression. I still say that overall, Gibson has done a lot more things right than they have done wrong. This new CEO JC ... is just what the doctor ordered .... these current acoustic guitars that are coming out of Montana are top notch. The compensated nut and cantilevered compensated saddle are not something they offer ... it is too much of a moving target for any manufacturer. This is definitely "Gibson Week" coming up ... so stay tuned ... Lol ! Cheers DSB !

    • @davidscotbrown3241
      @davidscotbrown3241 Рік тому +1

      @@StringTechWorkstations Hey Michael, didn't mean to imply that you left me with that impression. Its just the loose saddle, the glue squeezout and poor sanding of braces on the inside... really? I had a custom shop J-35 Collectors Edition a few years ago and it had the same issues. Not to mention that the Baggs pickup was hot on three strings and not on the other three (Not Gibson's issue really - except they chose the pickup and it shouldn't have left the factory that way). Anyway, Gibson's have always seemed hit-and-miss in the quality department, so it's good for them that someone of your experience and capability is giving the current guitars praise. I want to like them... really, I do.
