Yet another great job and demo Mike. I'm so glad I found your channel as I've learned a great deal even though I thought I knew a lot. I could listen to you 'blowing over' those amazing chord sequences all night.
flawless purity of tone, i love this ,proof positive that it is there to be found if you know how to listen. mix it with a dash of zen and hey presto.thankyou for this ,
That's always a pleasure to see how beautiful your work is. I need some classes. The problem that I`m still living in Brazil. Soon I'll move to Canada!
Could be. It does go pretty fast with the proper support and some leather lined sanding blocks though .... the CNC setup time would be good if you were whipping off a few dozen or a 100 fingerboards.
Good question; thanks for asking. I make a radius gauge for the top of the fingerboard where the radius is at it's flattest. The nut radius is usually left as is. I use the radius gauge and straight edges to check my progress as I go ... straightness along the length of the neck ( always checking along the trajectory of the STRING PATH ) and the gradual blend of the flattest radius at the top end ... to the original radius at the nut. BTW: This is all done with a very slight (1/3 of a turn) load on the truss rod. MMcC
No need for metal gauges ... I make them up as I go. I prefer the "self adjusting gauge with the low density foam ... it is completely "hands off ". I had the timer there to put things in perspective "time-wise ".
Im new to your channel Mike. You are so precise with everything you do and your explanation of what and how you do things is fantastic . Just a question for you, the tuner your using is it an app on your phone or an actual tuner.
Thanks Anthony. The tuner is an app "Cleartune". It does pick up room noise ... it's bit touchy that way. It has a dampening needle option that helps the needle settle down a bit so that it doesn't pick up the traffic driving by on the street. Lol !
It is very likely that this can be done. All of the material will be coming off of the middle of the fingerboard radius .... working from the middle to the outside edges as you see in this video:ua-cam.com/video/WqjlfyGbx2s/v-deo.htmlsi=OpdUziCtKs0-RaT3
@@StringTechWorkstations thanks cheers luther takes +-1mm material that what i see look on string action before and after. I buy stewmac shim 0,5 what do you think is good choice or maybe 0,25 -1,00 is better.

Awesome, thank you Mark ! Your show of gratitude is greatly appreciated.
Love your work, and especially your playing!!! Very melodic!!! Thanks!!!

@@StringTechWorkstations Master ,can I change the radius from my Fender American Pro II 9.5 to 16?
Making compound radiuses seem like a good job for the CNC machine.

👍👍
When sanding the fret board radius onto the nut - where do you take your radius measurement on a compound radius fretboard?

@@StringTechWorkstations Thank you!
Jeez Mike, really great work once again! The timer while you're sanding is a nice flex. Is there a reason you don't use metal radius gauges?

Very nice work, how much would a job like this one cost the customer? Cheers

Mike. Where do you get your comp saddle & nut for acustic guitar from. I dont see them on your web site

What is your "fret setter"? hummer pull on cilinder...
???
@@StringTechWorkstations what do you hammer the frets with?
A maple dowel with a 1lb plastic dead blow hammer. Oftentimes just the hammer.
@@StringTechWorkstations ok, I use a freewheel hammer with a brass head, but it scratches the frets
@@midiez1997 The maple dowel or the plastic hammer do not mark the frets.

Master ,can I change the radius from my Fender American Pro II 9.5 to 16?
Probably. But would need to see it before giving an absolute yes. Maple fingerboard or rosewood ?

@@StringTechWorkstations Thank you very much Master God bless you
I did compount radius 9,5-14 fender usa special strat and i need do shim the neck , the bridge saddles is low and the string action is hight.
A .020" shim will usually take care of that. Good luck ! Happy 2023 !
@@StringTechWorkstations thanks cheers luther takes +-1mm material that what i see look on string action before and after. I buy stewmac shim 0,5 what do you think is good choice or maybe 0,25 -1,00 is better.
I would have to see the guitar to make that decision.
@@StringTechWorkstations 1 mm sanding rosewood is normal to compound radius or luthier sand too much. I wondering is job done right .
Are those sanding blocks flat or made to match the wanted radius ?
They are jointed dead flat. The leather flexes perfectly, to match any fingerboard radius.
What is your treble and bass action at 12th fret
That will change, depending on the customer's preferences and string gauge / tuning etc ...
Why did Leo apply the radius to the bottom of the nut slot?
Good question. Just to make life difficult for us ... Lol !
@@StringTechWorkstations Thanks for the excellent demonstration of the compound radius mod btw
You are most welcome ;^) ... !
