First part. "blue sky, clear laker, green grasses, this is my home. Running horses, white sheeps, and you my little girl, this is my home. I love my home, my home is my heaven "
Second part"blue sky, clear laker, green grasses, this is my home, I love my home, my home is my heaven"
Third part"it is what it is and let it go, it is what it is and let it go"
This song is for her daughter who died at 5 years old.you can see the different between the first part and the Second part. His home, his little girl is not there any more. Last part you can feel the sadness and the pain, and at the very end he accept ed this and let it go.
Some people say this song is about His home, but I can feel this song is for her daughter.

There is a beautiful duet with Dimash and Tengri. This man is really good. The Mongolian throat singers accompanying him on the traditional instruments are really good as well. Love Tengri.

Hi. Im 2 years late to this and just wanna share what I have pieced together from various sources. This song was written when he was about 30 when industrialisation was rampant in his homeland, Mongolia. He sang it quite differently back then, with his Mongolian rock band. After his daughter died from leukemia, he stopped singing this song altogether, until tis program some 8-10 years later. Near the end of the song where he made the "oooooo" sounds, it's supposed to emulate the chinese flute. Someone also commented that his crescendos is akin to how you'll hear sounds when riding a horse in a vast grassland.
I love this perforamce so much. So beautiful and haunting. So glad for your reaction. Thank you.

OK, to be really blown away by the song you have to kind of understand what he was thinking about. I could be wrong, but I think I’ve seen other color matters in the past talk about how this song is about his people being run out of their homeland and kind of longing for their homeland. Or maybe it’s about wanting peace in their homeland in a time of war. Something like that. So that’s the reason why you saw some people crying there. And then to make it even more emotional, his daughter died some years ago of an illness after he spent time taking care of her, so he when he was singing it here, he was dedicating it to her as well as to his homeland. So that made it even more emotional for him and I believe the arrangement is even more dramatic than his original version of the song because of that. It’s just chilling.

If you liked Tengri, you have simply GOT to watch Hua Chenyu.
He was in the same year of ‘The Singer’ as Jessie J and finished runner up!
He’s not just a singer, he’s an artist.
Here’s a link to one of his performances.
    I think it’s called ‘Nunchucks’.

Tengri, interesting name. It sounds central Asian eg: one of the Turkic 'stan' countries or even Tibetan like a Buddhist chant...Hmmmmm. Then he sings in Mandarin. Excellent singer! Very surprising and weird beginning (In a good way). You are right- part soft creciendo, and part rough and strong. Then his falsetto. Wowwww so unusual!!!!!

@@ThatSingerReactions Yep. He is legendary, yet unknown. So incredible how we (The west) think the best singers are english speaking only. When I started discovering foreign music in the 2000s, I was shocked at how human beings can possibly sing in so many different ways and styles. Eg: Greece / Italy / Spain / The Middle east/ Turkey / Iran (Persia) / North Africa/ India / Brazil & The rest of South America / Mexico / Cuba / Maori (New Zealand) / Philippines, South Korea...the list is endless. I am so glad you are open to listening to a number of new musucal worlds (As I am), you will continute to be blown away. I don't understand most of them however love them nonetheless! 👊🏼

Yes, he is Mongolian. He was born in Inner Mongolia of China, went to Beijing for his music career in his twenties. Actually this song does have a Mongolian version of lyrics. I even doubt the Mongolian version is the orgional because that is his mother toungue, while he Mandarin version is a copy for the mass Chinese spoken market.
To me, the intro is a kind of over embellished with the Khumai, is kind of off the core feelings of this song, though it is one of very distinct Mongolian music elements.
He is a very typical Mongolian, that is said he loves alcohol, loves singging and loves friends. He made quite a lot money in 1990s, and he openned a restaurant in Beijing, then got bankrupt shortly. Why? Because he never allowed his friends and even anyone who knew his friends to pay for the food and drink in his restaurant...
The music is the personality, he is ture about that.

This song demonstrates that music is not a universal language. The throat singing at the beginning induces a creepy feeling in western audiences while Mongol would feel nostalgic. Personal background dictates how sounds are interpreted.
