The one thing you could do for yourself is be curious about Jesus. Meaning you find that path for yourself rather than letting others lead you to Him. As Christians we can preach about Jesus, but everyone has a choice whether to follow Him or not.

I love how you explained the difference between guilt and shame, because people would be so much better and that much closer to God if they'd understand that there's nothing to be ashamed about anymore if the confess their sin to God and go on living a better life. It doesn't only make them better and happier and healthier, but it makes the world a better place and God a stronger force which he's meant to be. Life is there to be happy and healthy and Jesus wants you to be just that, that's why he took your sins to grave with him, why wouldn't you worship him for that? For the greatest gift you could receive

God wants us to truly repent from our sin and trust in his son.
God wants to 1) give us grace, which is lucky if you have that lucky favor (grace is a favor, mercy, because God has ultimate power and sovereignty to do whatever He wants) 2) have us have faith in Jesus and God (faith is an action [the action is spoken acceptance plus acceptance in one's heart]) that we will be saved from our sins 3) repent, i.e. 'stop sinning'. Any one of those can result in you being saved. "Good works" (like works, or actions, other than faith and repentance) are a fruit, and result, of change, and not a viable way into Heaven. God dismisses good works (other than faith and repentance) as a means of salvation. Good works, once you are fully Christian, are the way to advance in Heaven and receive rewards according to your deeds on Earth, but the things God rewards you for are the little things and not always the sweeping reforms: you would be very surprised at what God views as important, it isn't always the size and scale, but the faithfulness and purity of our hearts and our love and sacrifice for Him.
My twin sister & I have loved Justin Bieber since the beginning of his career basically. (2009- we were 11-12 years old) I was so happy to hear that he was raised in a Christian home, but I was also the type of person that didn't know that there were different religions and even non-belief. It really upset me at first to see that some people commented that Justin wasn't being a "true" Christian because of his supposed bad behavior. I also didn't believe that he really was doing the things that were reported, especially when he smoked marijuana and possibly didn't wait until marriage for sex when he said that he didn't want to do those things when he was younger. I guess it's because I felt like well that would mean that he was lying when he said he wouldn't do drugs or have sex before marriage. A lot of people claimed that he was the reason that Selena Gomez took off her purity ring and that made me really angry because to me that meant that Justin was sinning and causing Selena to sin as well. I think that my fear of Justin not being a true believer made me feel like I wasn't either because I did see fanmade videos that were supposed to be sexy and I read fanfictions that had sex scenes in them, so in 10th-11th grade is when I really started changing because of listening to Colton Dixon. (a Christian singer) I was confirmed in my Methodist church and so was my twin sister and since we were given our own Bibles, we started to really read them unlike before. It's funny because we have a big children's Bible that we could have read or we could have asked our mom or dad about what they believed, but I guess my sister and I didn't know how to ask & we were scared that we would be yelled at for watching and reading the things that we did. But, recently, I did tell my mom about my feelings when it came to the things that I watched and read when I was younger and she was very understanding and said that she went through similar things when she was younger as well. (Of course without the internet!) So, I do have better ideas about God/Jesus now and it has made my relationship with Him better. I still do worry about the celebrities, my friends, and my older sisters that I love since not all of them believe in the same things that I do about whether they will be in Heaven with me or not, but only God knows. So, I pray about it a lot to keep them safe.
