Iran is the TOP STATE SPONSOR of TERRORISM IN THE WORLD, that's according to the U.S. Dept. of State and CIA Factbook for the last 30+ years. So why in the hell did Obama secretly (story broke months later) ship them $1.8 BILLION in CASH and free up another $250+ BILLION in long JUSTIFIABLY FROZEN assets. Joe Biden followed that with another $100+ BILLION to Iran in the last couple years.

@@SkrixFox The real problem with Afghanistan, as we'd been telling the Muricans, was that Pakistan played USA like a fiddle. Gave shelter to Quetta Shura (it is in the damn name FFS!) while embezzling weapons from USA by holding their GLOCs hostage. You cannot defeat an active insurgency without destroying it at its root/source. The same problem we've been having in Kashmir, only that we've gotten so good at stemming infiltration and local radicalization that the insurgency has reduced from a raging inferno to a smouldering ember.
Was also not a good idea to have your own puppet blatantly running the government in Afghanistan, sidelining the likes of Saleh and instead of leveraging the ethnic divide and building a Tajik-Hazara-Uzbek alliance to rule over the Pashtuns. Also, instead of leveraging the Soviet-trained manpower, using fresh recruits for the ANA. So many issues.

It looks like the little black nose on the torpedoes is going to be part of a passive acoustic sensor. It listens for propeller noises for homing/tracking, and so it's not suitable for attacking harbors. It goes to the noisiest example of its tuned match/model by FFT, so it can be done on an arduino, instead of a billion dollar navy sonar (epic ripoff). It also can't tell one ship from another, because it's just looking for "Yup. That's a propeller of a large commercial vessel."... Still technically better than a billion dollar navy sonar system, because an arduino costs $40 and a billion dollars of these hootie torps can remove every ship within range of its launch, due to consumables exhaustion.
Of course, I made all that stuff up, but show me something in this bizarre scenario that isn't. Hooties have no chip fabs. They have no torpedo factories. A few weeks ago, they were launching bottle rockets, and now they have smooth, shiny, waxed torps on display that outperform humans that had this same job in WWII. I would love to say "I'm not buying it", but I guarantee I have, without my consent.

This is a very strange ship. It is actually owned by a US company, which was Greek flagged (and partly Grek crewed), carrying Argentinian corn to Bulgaria. What I'd like to know is why the Captain of the ship decided to sail two thirds around the world (around Cape Horn, across the entire Pacific and Indian Oceans and then up through Suez into the Mediterranean) to Bulgaria! If the corn came from Argentina why not simply sail across the Atlantic, past Gibraltar through the Med to Bulgaria and miss the whole Houthis in the Red Sea?! Am I missing something?

It's criminal that the two IRGC Cargo ships that are anchored in the area have not been boarded and seized. The crews need to be sent to the United States for trial for aiding Terrorists. It's not like we don't have recordings of all their transmissions, etc. Plus more evidence that will be recovered when the ships are boarded. Since these people are pirates, they can be sent to GITMO for some candid conversations. Without spotters, the Houthis are blind and will be unable to target ships they can't see. The Biden Cabal is weak and Iran only understands and respects strength. Question - How is the leader of the Houthis and the spokesman still alive???

First of all, thanks for the neutral insightful details.
So basically Iran is doing to western/international/rival shipping via Houthi's what NATO is doing to the Russian Black Sea fleet via Ukraine, no one should be surprised.
NATO says its not at war with Russia, same can be the Iranian claim on similar grounds as NATO behaviour - and this also gives a preview (with deterrence from Iranian perspective) of several magnitudes higher that USN can expect in a confrontation in Persian gulf.
That NATO fleet is unable to stop the Houthi's launching more and more drones/missiles indicates that it must also be difficult for Russians to stop them and not just that their technology/operational procedures are obsolete.
More worrisome would be if Iran passes on newer stealthier or supersonic anti shipping missiles or advanced SAMs able to deny US drones air-land-sea surveillance capabilities in significant volumes, especially if Russia wants to quid-Pro-quo NATO using the mutual defence agreement between Iran and Russia under discussion.
