I’m a 13 year old kid. And i love christopher nolan and interstellar. I’ve been playing piano for like 4 years. But i’m just an amateur. Cuz i just took piano lessons for 3-4 months when i first started. I never did go to my lessons regularly. Because i don’t like someone to teach me. I wanna learn by myself, by mistakes i’ll make, by experiences i went through by myself. So, yeah, i’m sayin’ these and i’m sayin’ i’ve been playing piano for 4 years. But why am i still an amateur? Cuz i never challenged myself. I was always like this: i discover a new track. I wanna play it. I search it on youtube. It looks hard. I search for an easy one. And skip the left hand part. Learn 30 sec. I quit. Yeah, that's it. But this time, i saw something. That one guy on the top of the comments. His speech was very impressed me and give me courage. Now, i started playing this yesterday, at 18.06.20. When i'm done with this amazing music, when i break my chain, imma edit this comment and add that date here. Wish me luck
Man this song! I have been practicing and practicing, this song has now become hope. Through this pandemic my country was placed in a horrid lockdow, the economy is blown, the last few months have been horrible , people losing jobs all around me, not to mention the death and infection rate that continews to climb. In all of this I practice , every time i try i am filled hope and strength that I will endure , that we will endure that these hard times will end. I practice every morning, i stuggle and i make little progress. There are days my fingers hurt, there are days i am so tired because i have do pull 16 hour days but little by little I made it to the end. Now i practice till i get my timing right, till i can play it with all my heart . well after all Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light. These hard times too shall pass and I will play this well! Keep practicing friends we will get there in the end !
The one person at the very top, gave me courage to learn this, I've never taken lessons in my life ever, but I've always found a way to learn things that I have no clue about. I've played piano for like7 years now without lessons, and I'm still going. This song gives me different feelings at once. Hanz Zimmer I thank you for this piece, I've learnt up to 3:06 in just 4 days, it's undeniably beautiful. I will pass it forward, by saying the same speech that Caprie Moreno had said. Just so you all know, Never Give Up!, There Is Always A Way Out!
I just learned to play this version of Interstellar on piano, and it is the first song ever I learnt to play on any instrument (35 years of age)! Started about 2 weeks ago when I borrowed my sisters piano/synth. This is a fantastic piece of melody that triggered something iside me to want to learn even more piano. Next song will be something with Ludovico Einaudi... Thanx for the tutorial! /Aldin

Hello, I just want to say thank you. I'm a 14 year old, never learned piano. But I have one with broken keys, and I'm trying. I know its not the same for everyone, but this song gave me inspiration, gave me memories, gave me a purpose to sit on my rug, grab that piano, and try. its hard, but so is everything else? life is hard, school is hard, society is hard. but no matter how much we wish for it to get easier, that's just the way it is. and I know that motivation sucks sometimes, and you could get judged by your siblings, but, nothing is going to feel better than getting to that last note, and seeing your hands shake. and then, the best part, looking into the mirror, knowing that you finished something, that you did it. not your parents, not your friends, you.
First time I found this tutorial an year ago, and today I finally played from the start to the end. I can’t tell how much I love this song, it gives me something I’ll probably never can explain to others ♥️
I think the composition works as well with the movie as the movie does with the composition. It's hard to think of Interstellar without the score and the two are an integral part of the movie's overall emotive impact. Thanks to the Piano Lab for making this composition accessible to the masses. I find that as I play this piece more comfortably, the various layers of emotion seem to reveal itself more subtly, it truly is a timeless piece and one that we will appreciate for years to come!

Help please! I feel like I’m missing something. I can’t figure out how to play bars number 73 and 74 (2:33) with just two hands. I’m leaving my left hand for the Fs and the rest for my right. I am physically capable of holding that high E while alternating the lower E and C, but it seems too far. Most people have smaller hands than me and they certainly could never reach that far. So, am I missing something?
Same dude, Ive got quite big hands, but still it is impossible whilst alternating the E and C, if you found it out, let me know!! Otherwise I would just skip the high E

I am a complete beginner, practicing approximately 2.5 hours each day, will update this comment every time I make noticeable progress 1. I have practiced this for 3 days now, I can play upto 00:30. 2. I have practiced this for a week now, I can play upto 00:56. 3. 2 weeks now, Since I fucked up my fingers as mentioned below, I started doing it the right way i.e. left hand for E and everything left of it and right hand for everything on the right of E. Reached 00:50 today 4. 2 weeks and 3 days I can play upto 1:02. hardest part till now but twas worth it. 5. 4 weeks now I can play till 1:17. The hardships endured in step 4 were useful to proceed further. Now I embark on the journey for the toughest part as per the comments from most of the people. 6. A month now, I can play till 1:28 the pattern is same as earlier the only difference is instead of playing E along with other notes, you gotta play it alternatively. new month from here : 1. 5 days now, I can play upto 2:16. This part is slow but needs a lot many fingers and I suppose 5 on each hand aren't enough. Looks like impossible to me :( edit : I am not sure how to play this without sustain pedal so I will be skipping the leftmost note as it sounds almost the same without it. 2. 25 days complete and I can play till 2:34 :) new month from here : 3. 10 days more and I'm on 2:54. Hopefully I will complete this by the end of the year. :) Edit : Since I am doing this on a keyboard I have one octave less than a real piano. So I will be skipping the leftmost note for the 2:51 to 3:06 4. 6 days more now and I have reached till 3:06 now the next one is the last part and probably the toughest in the whole piece. I'm a little bit sceptical regarding my personal deadline of December end. :/ 5. Ladies and Gentlemen It gives me immense pleasure to declare that I have completed the whole piece now. Thanks for those who supported and otherwise. It took me around 3 months including gaps and laziness and less amount of practice sometimes. Below are some key points which I understood while completing this, i) Divide every part into smallest parts possible. One part could be just 2-3 notes as well No shame in that. ii) When you play a wrong note by mistake, dont leave it as a mistake rather practice that single part again and again iii) Most important thing : DO IT SLOW!! VERY VERY SLOW!! the slower you try the new part the faster you will learn it. iv) last but not the least : I was a complete beginner before starting this. If I can do this so can you. Remember, when your heart says ITS NOT POSSIBLE say ITS NECESSARY!!
@@wholelottagangshid you have surpassed me sensei. I'm at 57th second and finding it difficult to play it fast. If I play it slow the sound isn't continuous and it doesn't feel right. Would be great if you could tell me which fingers you using. P. S. I f'd up since beginning and used my right hand index finer for the E. Now since the chords are way too many for right hand after 57sec, so I'm struggling in shifting my fingers
@@wholelottagangshid I have reached till 1:25 It seems not very difficult to me because except E rest of the notes are same as earlier, all you gotta do is to time it so that your E plays alternatively. Hope it helps :)
Hey man your progress is phenomenal! I say for the last bit just practice the left hand first since it's the obvious more complex side. Once you have it down the right shouldn't be that hard to follow. You can do this!!!

Very beautiful music.
It's very sad movie and It's the best movie in the world.
My fav start's from 2:00😍
One simple quote I would like to give for people learning this “never give up”
I shall attempt to give it a try I’m a beginner who ran into this masterpiece by accident. I’m going to try to learn this whole thing to show that if I can do this then I can do the pieces I once thought were impossible. I’ll try and give updates, but if I don’t I promise you I’ll keep going! My first milestone is to the 1:15 mark if I can make it there I will comment or update this edit
How’s it going?
@@parnel159 so far not bad I just started break so I’ll be able to make more progress I’m close to reaching my milestone though
@@differix8015 This is such a nice piece and I wish you the best of luck. Keep practising just a little bit everyday and you’ll reach your goal!
Any improvements?
@@anyanyyyyyy7689 sorry for the late response, but so far I’m trying to build up to it by playing other pieces to improve my skills. School is as well making it quite difficult to accomplish this. I will keep trying though
I’m so gonna learn how to play this song it feels right to learn how to play it and it makes me feel happy to hear it
At first I was gonna click off Bc I wanted to find a more epic version but I decided to stick around and it was WORTH
I dont know how to play the piano in my house but im an hour into trying to memorize this and im at about a minute in! :D
going to learn this, been playing piano for 7 years.
Day 1: So far doesnt seem too bad, at like 1 minute.
Day 2: pretty confusing but i can play the first minute perfectly now
Day 3: Im at around 1:40
Keep us updated 😭
@@ViizVenomZz I finished up to the.. end of this video. I'm actually following another tutorial that is longer than this one, so when this one ends, the part continues, and I need to learn that one. For the rest, it's mainly okay, practicing yk!
@@valerialucia337 At 2:17 Mins which hand is playing what?
@@mlk8165 the left hand only plays one note at a time. I would use my middle finger or index and go from there. the right hand plays the rest. That way, your left hand is free to play two notes at the same time a bit later :)
Amazing! Can you do a cover of What Must Be Done by nick cave and warren ellis?
Help please! I feel like I’m missing something. I can’t figure out how to play bars number 73 and 74 (2:33) with just two hands. I’m leaving my left hand for the Fs and the rest for my right. I am physically capable of holding that high E while alternating the lower E and C, but it seems too far. Most people have smaller hands than me and they certainly could never reach that far. So, am I missing something?
Or is it supposed to be done with the pedal and not holding that high E with the pinky?
Same dude, Ive got quite big hands, but still it is impossible whilst alternating the E and C, if you found it out, let me know!! Otherwise I would just skip the high E
yeah same i’m very confused. ig you would need a pedal which i don’t have as i’m playing on keyboard
@@adriaanbosman3605 Now I’m able to hold that high E while alternating C and E, I was just beginning when I asked the question. But it sounds a lot better if I use the sustain pedal, so I do it that way
@@hollyyapp I started during the holidays with an acoustic piano, but now I have a keyboard. You can get a pedal for it. I don’t know how much a keyboard pedal costs, but I’m using a tattoo pedal I had and those are quite cheap. I recommend you get one!
I’ve never really played piano, but I bet you I’m gonna learn this in a couple of months.
Did anyone find the sheets for this version? I’d like to lear the “medium” version, I found some easy ones and hard, but this seems to be right in the middle. But I desperately need sheets, I can’t learn another way.
Have you found sheet music for it in the meantime?
Learning this is gonna cost us 51 years...

Time stamps just for my own use:
Part 1: 0:00
Part 2: 0:56
Part 3: 1:17
Part 4: 2:00
Part 5: 2:17
Part 6: 2:33
Part 7: 2:50
Part 8: 3:06
Learning this little maneuver here will cost me 65 years and my retirement
Same, but it worth it
Four months self taught, can now comfortably play this. I remember thinking this would take over a year to play. If you’re a beginner looking at this the same way I was, don’t. You’ll be able to do this in no time. Put it on .25 speed and practice some part of it during your daily practice session.
My biggest flex is understanding interstellar the first time I watched it
My biggest flex is probably my glutes. I got an ass like a baboon
Not today but definitely one day😌🤞💯
Currently on my third day learning this song , I’ve been playing piano for 2 weeks just because I wanted to learn Time and this. Just such beautiful songs, I currently have learnt up to 1:05 , people tell me that it’s impossible to learn this... but I say it’s N....
at 0:56 how do u use your hands there?
@@bastiaanhalteren6946 so my right thumb will be on E at all times , index finger on G , middle finger on A, 4th finger on B and Pinky finger on C . Then my left hand will be middle finger on A , index finger on B and Thumb on C! Hope this helps !
I can play up to 2:35 now ! Not full speed but correctly !
This song brings so much imagination. The desire to push forward, to persevere for love, the endless possibilities. To dream for better world for all humanity. The reason I am here is for you. This song brings all these reasons and emotions for one purpose and that's Love.
3:06 goosebumps
Oooo shiver me timbers
I learned first 30 sec now. I am a beginer and hope i will full learn it soon❤️
Does anyone have the sheet for this specific version? thanks
I'm a beginner pianist (who didn't even know that they could play with two hands properly until today) and I'm learning the Interstellar theme lol. lets hope i get it.
I am a complete beginner, practicing approximately 2.5 hours each day, will update this comment every time I make noticeable progress
Reached 00:50 today
4. 2 weeks and 3 days I can play upto 1:02. hardest part till now but twas worth it.
5. 4 weeks now I can play till 1:17. The hardships endured in step 4 were useful to proceed further. Now I embark on the journey for the toughest part as per the comments from most of the people.
6. A month now, I can play till 1:28 the pattern is same as earlier the only difference is instead of playing E along with other notes, you gotta play it alternatively.
new month from here :
1. 5 days now, I can play upto 2:16. This part is slow but needs a lot many fingers and I suppose 5 on each hand aren't enough. Looks like impossible to me :(
edit : I am not sure how to play this without sustain pedal so I will be skipping the leftmost note as it sounds almost the same without it.
2. 25 days complete and I can play till 2:34 :)
new month from here :
3. 10 days more and I'm on 2:54. Hopefully I will complete this by the end of the year. :)
Edit : Since I am doing this on a keyboard I have one octave less than a real piano. So I will be skipping the leftmost note for the 2:51 to 3:06
4. 6 days more now and I have reached till 3:06 now the next one is the last part and probably the toughest in the whole piece. I'm a little bit sceptical regarding my personal deadline of December end. :/
5. Ladies and Gentlemen It gives me immense pleasure to declare that I have completed the whole piece now. Thanks for those who supported and otherwise.
It took me around 3 months including gaps and laziness and less amount of practice sometimes.
Below are some key points which I understood while completing this,
i) Divide every part into smallest parts possible. One part could be just 2-3 notes as well No shame in that.
ii) When you play a wrong note by mistake, dont leave it as a mistake rather practice that single part again and again
iii) Most important thing : DO IT SLOW!! VERY VERY SLOW!! the slower you try the new part the faster you will learn it.
iv) last but not the least : I was a complete beginner before starting this. If I can do this so can you.
Remember,
when your heart says ITS NOT POSSIBLE
say ITS NECESSARY!!
Anymore updates? I'm a complete beginner and finding 1:17 difficult to play, how did you feel about it?
@@wholelottagangshid you have surpassed me sensei. I'm at 57th second and finding it difficult to play it fast. If I play it slow the sound isn't continuous and it doesn't feel right. Would be great if you could tell me which fingers you using.
P. S. I f'd up since beginning and used my right hand index finer for the E. Now since the chords are way too many for right hand after 57sec, so I'm struggling in shifting my fingers
@@wholelottagangshid I have reached till 1:25
It seems not very difficult to me because except E rest of the notes are same as earlier, all you gotta do is to time it so that your E plays alternatively. Hope it helps :)
Hey man your progress is phenomenal! I say for the last bit just practice the left hand first since it's the obvious more complex side. Once you have it down the right shouldn't be that hard to follow. You can do this!!!
@@stephenceja3229 Thank you very much!!!! It worked

you only need 6 to play this song lol

Can anyone explain the maneuver at 2:35? Im holding down f with my left hand pinky and holding down e with right hand pinky, and then supposed to hit that c in middle but neither my hands can reach it with my pinkys holding down the f and e
I don't understand how to play this moment alone at all, so I play it together with my friend.😺
