Hi Jazer, I love Interstellar, but I want to also learn how you ended the song. Can you make another Interstellar video including the same ending like the one you played?
@@lindaportney43yeah I was also trying to figure out the little ending there, I recommend using the slow function in youtube, then you can see the notes
I'm a TOTAL beginner and am working my way through the full Interstellar main theme. I don't think I would have jumped off this cliff if it wasn't for you. I'm 53. I needed the push 😄
Merci beaucoup, Jazer. My daughters asked me why I decided to start playing the piano. Fifteen months ago I was watching one of your videos, I went out and bought a piano. You made it my challenge. My Mom also bought a piano and started playing at 65 years of age. She played for over 20 years. She was playing some very beautiful songs, I'm inspired.
I chose this song as my "great white whale" as I retrain myself from square one. A long-term goal. Played by a master, Interstellar is positively mesmerizing. Deceivingly complex. Rubbing my nose in my current ineptness keeps me humble on my journey to competency. Practicing Fur Elise, Moonlight Sonata, Clair de Lune etc...while drilling the scales, chords, arpeggios etc... gets stale. So I have also mixed in a couple of easier pieces to learn to keep me confident by seeing actual improvement more often. Makes me look forward to practicing thus keeping me more motivated to work hard on the basics. No cutting corners. My first 3 weeks back after not playing for 50 years have been productive and I already see a path forward. Knowing HOW to practice and keeping it fun are the keys. Achievable short-term accomplishments with hopes for someday chasing down the "great white whale."
When i was seven , i got fascinated with people playing piano and says one day ill buy one for myself and learn and now, im 35 I just bought a piano , I hope it's not too late for me 😅
For all that I’ve learned from you about theory and good practice habits I have to say a song-specific tutorial is just what I’ve been hoping for. I hadn’t been as captivated by this song as so many others but you’ve got me excited to learn it now. Thank you.
I just recently saw the movie, and fell in love with the music. I got the right hand right away, but thank you so much for the advanced way of playing it. Best instructional video so far. Thank you!
Ngl the slight mistake at 8:20 made me feel better about learning piano. The fact that this guy is THIS good and still makes mistakes kinda shows that mistakes happen at any level and you just kind of have to learn how to get better to avoid them. I just recently got a keyboard and can't even use my left hand properly yet so these videos have been extremely helpful
What you're doing is so great man, I really appreciate you taking the time to break this down for us. Its making it possible for someone like me to do what I thought would never BE possible. This world needs more people like you.
Jazz, Thank you so much for creating this video..!! Fantastic. I just watched the movie Interstellar again & then listened to Anna Lapwood play 'interstellar ' on the amazing pipe organ.. Royal Albert Hall performance...just Brilliant! 🤯
Two years later and I'm still finding videos of yours to help hone my skills. Interstellar is my goal this winter but until then I do need to work on more rhythmic dexterity in my left hand, so I'm going to work the advanced pattern here into my regular "short piece/pattern" practice.
Thank you for this video. I didnt feel like practicing pieces today but this fun little exercise got me out of bed to play some piano. More of this please!
Awesome tutorial! I love how you break various versions down from beginner to intermediate to expert! Gives us a sort of path or progression to keep us engaged! I would love other songs being broken down like this!
Jazer thank you so much for this tutorial. Made me sound great on the piano. Am 61 yrs old and i learned piano when i was younger but never took it seriously. Am a fan of yours from the Philippines. I really enjoyed your piano tutorials.
Super helpful for me, i dont read music im 28 and played by ear since nine but the visual in this fashion bumps up how fast i can play it so thank you sir 🎉
Fun video. Great to see this next gen playing such a beautiful instrument. I started playing back when I was still in diapers. My father use to put me to sleep under his 10ft Yamaha grand when I was 6-8 months old. Im guessing thats how I was able to play by ear at such a young age. Im 45 now. Happy to see that people are figuring out how simple the piano really is. Master all 12 keys. 88 is a walk in the park! Rock on, folks!
I sent my things and Appreciation for the song and I thank you for the piano tutorial on interstellar first step. I have been wanting to play that song for a while and didn’t know how to properly play it. I believe this tutorial will help out a lot so thank you and I like your video.
Thank you! Great lesson! Teaching myself isn’t easy but I just LOVE piano and these videos are making it possible ❤ I’m 41 so sometimes I wonder if it’s too late? The Piano is my happy place
Practice, practice, as usual. Play many different pieces. Play slowly at clean constant speed and take time to align fingers. Play single octave arpegios and octave chords. You'll quickly get used to the hand opening and do it accurately. The most important trick is probably to practice both 2-finger octave melodies, 3 finger octave chords and 4 finger arpegios to get used to variations of the same hand opening.
I can only do the easy one, after that, it gets too confusing, I have to keep it simple. 🤔😆Thank you for showing the easy version, I've been wanting to play this ever since I heard it on different videos, especially after seeing a video of Hans Zimmer playing this song in a concert in Germany., that was just wow.😊😯 It's been stuck in my head these last few days and I have a keyboard so when I found ur vid, I bookmarked it and here I am. I've never gotten out of the beginner phase of playing, I play by ear, can't read music, and don't want to, I've tried but it's too much like math which I'm definitely not good at. 😬😆 I just find the song on my keyboard and 'hunt and peck' it out till I have it, the easy version of course.😆
Such a great theme created by Hans Zimmer which is so emotional on many levels. Great tutorial! Just a small note while I was playing along with your tutorial, from medium to hard you switch from GEG to GDG-ABD. It is clear in the screen, but because you explicitly explain the GEG to AEA transition in the medium version, it could be overlooked while switching to the hard version. Great stuff on your channel, helps me to practice the next song!
I learned the easy one then started to ad lib, organically started using right hand octaves. Now I just have add that more complex left hand. I need to practice the left hand by itself until it flows good. 😊
this is playing the piano this kind of lessons i like to follow keep posting more lessons like these its amazing it sounds very musical when some one ask me to play something i can play this thank you very much god bless you and your family
I don't have the opportunity to buy a piano but when I have it I'm sure the first song I'll learn is that with this video. Beautiful song and video. Thanks 😊
What a great tutorial! That made me jump directly to my piano. The medium version asks quite a stretch from my left hand, not yet comfortable. But it's definitely a nice exercise. Thanks❤
Thank you mate! I just bought the piano 2 weeks ago, never played before, but learning from youtube my favourite songs. In those 2 weeks I got requiem for a dream (still need to put left right hand together , beginning is fine but need to learn end also) coz I jumped to easier songs, got 8 mile eminem lose yourself but those r some 30 seconds only, easy, got dr dre still dre beginning, and now I learned interstellar easy version 3-4 minutes, but looked that pros playing it differently, now I see there are harder versions, so will take that also to my wish list.....also will learn the best is yet to come song from metal gear solid game, probably you know that. its very beautiful!
I love when you write the notes played,I wish you had the app that shows all the notes when you are actually playing like you will find the link in this channel (piano with nate) so much easier for beginners. Thank you so much 💐
Thanks so much for this video! 👌 I love your style of teaching-especially showing the note and chord letters at the top of the screen. 👍 (Your tutorial of Despacito was also perfect.) Here is my BIG Question-Do you or will you PLEASE 🙏 make some fairly easy 🎄Cristmas songs for beginner-intermediate piano? It is now the beginning of the holiday season and I would Greatly appreciate to see these tutorials by you! Please and thank you if it all possible. Take care and Happy Holidays! ⛄️
So glad I watched this! Such a great tutorial I have learned soooo much from this video! Thank you 🙏 all the best from the UK 🇬🇧 keep up the great work 👊
Thank you very much for this tutorial. Please keep up the good work and bless us with your teachings.. I am starting my journey to learn piano and today is day#1.
Omg-you made this song so much clearer insofar as learning it. Beginner here. Just started learning this piece. I’m watching all your stuff. 🙏 Thank you
I start the easy using right hand octaves. Octaves are used so often it’s good practice. And when you get the hard version, it’s basically just the left hand to learn.
Very much appreciated…❤❤❤ My favorite piece taught in such a clear and beginner-friendly way. Wish fulfilled! My goal is to play the full version on a public piano one day. 🙏
Really the best Piano Turtorial about Interstellar. Very well prepared with the 3 Levels. You could make a 2.0 with different Arpeggios with Fmaj7 for example - Thank you!
Great tutorial, thank you! One question: the second chord for.the left hand varies between the medium and the hard version. Medium = GDG, Hard = GEG. They both sound great but i was wondering if that is intentional ..?
❤ Thanks a lot dear Jazer ❤ my daughter and me are enjoying your tutorials! You are a great teacher. This one is just wonderful. From easy to hard, a lot ist of motivation and fun to play. Maybe you find time to explain the theme from Harry Potter or Pirates of the caribbean from easy to hard. Wish you and your family a good time ❤
Thank you so much for making these videos! On the difficult version (2.5 haha), I’m not sure when my right hand is supposed to play the E. When my thumb is on the F? You make it look so easy.
Thanks a lot for great tutorial. Interstellar is one of my fav movies and learning the theme is on my list. Do you have sheet music / notes for the version you play and share it?
Looks like a useful key to the later more difficult theme will add it to my interstellar tutorial rounds. There’s a lot more than this though, a treatment of the entire piece would be handy, but a big job for a video.

I've just bought a keyboard so I can learn to play this so I can surprise my partner 😂. I'm 46 and a complete beginner! Exciting 🎉🎉
Merci beaucoup, Jazer.

I share your pain lol
When i was seven , i got fascinated with people playing piano and says one day ill buy one for myself and learn and now, im 35 I just bought a piano , I hope it's not too late for me 😅
It's never too late
Your never late
You got it bro
It will be never too late. I bought mine 3 days back at @39 years. I hope to sustain my enthusiasm to learn for the next 5 years. Be in touch..😂
I just got a keyboard and I’m 37. You’ll se me next to Mozart in history books soon enough ;)
For all that I’ve learned from you about theory and good practice habits I have to say a song-specific tutorial is just what I’ve been hoping for. I hadn’t been as captivated by this song as so many others but you’ve got me excited to learn it now. Thank you.
BUT this isn't a "song", see Craig Wright's Yale course
I just recently saw the movie, and fell in love with the music. I got the right hand right away, but thank you so much for the advanced way of playing it. Best instructional video so far. Thank you!
Love how you broke it up and explained every part. Made it very easy for me to play, even the harder part. I would love more of these. Thank you!

You have to be one of the best teachers around. Clear instructions. Notes on the screen. Understanding of beginners issues. Perfect.
Thank you for this video. I didnt feel like practicing pieces today but this fun little exercise got me out of bed to play some piano. More of this please!
One of my friends played this on piano and I collapsed and now I have a crush on him..

Thank you so much for the uber easy version! Just what I need for now. 😂 ❤ from Brazil.
This is awesome, fun, and encouraging! Also, thanks for not editing out your mistakes at the end. I think they are helpful too.

Great tutorial! Where can I find sheet music for the three variations yyou played?
You’re a great piano teacher. I just learned the medium level. I’m coming back later for the harder level
Great tutorial, thank you! One question: the second chord for.the left hand varies between the medium and the hard version. Medium = GDG, Hard = GEG. They both sound great but i was wondering if that is intentional ..?
So simple with abundant elegance
Thank you so much
Thank u so much sir I was trying to learn this song but made it easy thank you very much sir

Wish you and your family a good time ❤
This is great! Can you please post sheet music for medium and hard version?

Fantastic tutorial. Loved how newbie friendly you made it! Cheers 🤌🏻
My goodness your amazing and thank you for giving us the opportunity to practise this 🙏
I very much enjoyed that and will be practice the easy version:)
Well done! Thank you so very much :)
You're very welcome!
Beautiful! GREAT instructions!
Love the way you break it down. Great tutorial, straight to the point and no waffling. Look forward to more . Just subscribed to your channel 👍🏻
So enjoy your videos ,have learned so much from you
Thank you
Looks like a useful key to the later more difficult theme will add it to my interstellar tutorial rounds. There’s a lot more than this though, a treatment of the entire piece would be handy, but a big job for a video.
You are a heroic piano teacher💙❤
I am definitely going to try this. A beautiful piece of music.
Amazing video! Would love to see something similiar with the Pirates of the Caribbean theme!
You're an excellent teacher! Thank you!!
