In England its called "the Triangle", if yards didn't have a turntable they had a Triangle. I'm from Peterborough which used to be a big maintenance depot and I used to drink in a pub called The Triangle which was conveniently built next to the Triangle to catch the drivers firemen and maintenance staff on their way home!!
This is going to sound like a really dumb question, especially considering the hundreds of times I've been to Cass on excursions..what is the "buzzing " sounds that Shay's make? Is it something with the boiler?(not referring to the rhythmic chuff of exhaust or the gearing)

The buzzing sound is the steam driven dynamo for powering the headlamps and interior cab lighting.
