  • We have been receiving more and more inquiries about how to buy land here in Bolivia, the Visa process, and questions about your permaculture projects. Between the farm, guests, projects, videos, and much more, we unfortunately have minimal free time to reply to all of you on these topics. We have decided to prioritize those who are a part of our Patreon community who have reached a threshold of contributing $40 to receive an hour long consultation with Simon. There's also the option to make a one-time contribution of $40 to receive this meeting.
We have already had many of these one-on-one interactions with you and really enjoy being able to help the best way we can. Please send us an e-mail if you're interested in consulting with Simon. We love to hear from you. permacultureretreatcenter@gmail.com
Subscribe and ring the notification bell as we have many videos planned to show other ways that we use our urine on the farm!
    Much love,
    Jessica & Simon

The solar powered fan is a good idea (aside from odor) because it will speed up the desiccation process, the first step in converting pooh to fertilizer. A suggestion; rather than empty your bucket into the eternal pile of pooh bin, pre dig holes for tree planting and simply dump the pooh bucket and cover with a bit of soil. The earthworms and soil biota will immediately go to work. The next time you have a tree to plant - the planting hole is already to go. If you don't have a tree nursery, start one. The best way is collecting your own seed from the most desirable trees in your area. Every retreat center should have a tree nursery.

Nightsoils are a pathogen vector. They are useful for fiber crops, but not comestible plants.

If you isolate (put a string around it with posts in each corner) a spot within a grassy area and fertilize with dilute urine, you will be amazed at the way the grases respond to the nitrogen. Within 3 weeks you will see a marked change in color and a flush of new growth. To keep it simple, I made a long narrow strip that I could water easily by walking along each side with a watering can. Would be a perfect experiment/content/proof of concept for your urine as fertilizer video.

Well I suppose for some people this would be kind of a stinky subject that it's natural it's got to be done and it's got to be taken care of. You were talkin about that plant that was very soft. I have one in my yard and I'm sure you know what it is it's the Mullen and they have giant leaves on them and nice and velvety soft. Right now I don't have to use them but there's going to come a time when I do and it'll be there because I don't cut them down and the medicinal uses of mullein is for the lungs but I'm sure y'all knew that. Thanks for the video and thanks for some ideas. Y'all stay safe out there now.

Hey Terry! Yea I had an application name the soft velvety leafed plant “Princess flower” but only 1 out of 10 photos on the internet look just like it. I’ve also never seen the bush with the purple flowers it supposedly has. Mullein looks quite different from it but sounds equally soft. This Princess flower plant is suppose to be very medicinal as well where studies have suggested antioxidant, antileishmanial, PARG-inhibitor, phytoremediative properties. Whatever it is, it’s amazing “toilet paper!”

    Hi Simon
You don't mention using bokashi leachate or EM1 in your compost toilet? Is this an older video?
We copied a Finish design where you don't separate the urine, but pipe it off to a collection drum, every time you use it we give a spray of em 1 and some wood shavings. Seems to work well

That is in an older video. We will make another shortly about urine as an amendment. It's great stuff. Your design sounds good! If you are not squeamish you can add worms to the first chamber.

@@robknowles6152 ha ha. You would have to choose either bokashi or worms in the first chamber though. Gotta say though many won't like tiger worm melee beneath them lol

Uhm questions 🤔 separating urine is all fine and dandy when you have a spout but when you are a lady its not so simple.....how does she do it ? and what about period blood ?
If you mix urine & feces it starts to ferment ....isnt that better fertilizer?

Hi what hand soap or cleaners do you use? Planning on living off grid by years end.

Hi! Jessica, here. We make our own soap & shampoos; for cleaning depending on what we have like rice water, citrus peel cleaner we make and vinegars. I could make whole video explaining the things we make and use. Would that be interesting?
