It’s criminally underrated. Also the hypocrisy surrounding it. People were upset when they didn’t do endgame when in fact the MCU didn’t give a flying frick about the shows events. Also, it’s way of making the characters develop themselves and their relationships was also a huge highlight.
Also, in a way, it was right that the Agents of SHIELD team weren't in Endgame. The Avengers were in the limelight. SHIELD were the ones who fought the worst of the universe from the shadows. The victories that mattered but didn't make the six o'clock news. While the Avengers were fighting Thanos, SHIELD was stopping the unknown threats of Sarge and then the Chronicoms.
As far as I’m concerned saying thanos was enough considering they were never gonna be in the movies no matter how much we wanted it. Plus it would probably make the avengers look bad if daisy showed up and casually outperformed several avengers.
i honestly like agents of shield better than the avengers, just character wise, acting wise, relationship wise, plot twist wise, creative wise, presenting mental illness and real problems wise, and they did it all with a lower budget than avengers. Dont get me wrong i love the avengers, but i was pretty dang dissapointed when i didnt see daisy or coulson in endgame because they as a group have saved world ending problems, that werent just under the avengers payroll, but saved the world by solving even bigger problems too, and also without destroying cities in the process. Most of the relationships, either romatinc or platonic, are the ones we most ship and are all canon. Oh, and not to mention that AOS doesnt even need one specific scene to show female empowerment because the whole show is female dominance and empowerment without even trying.
May, Daisy, Jemima, Elena... all these women were amazing and they didn't have to make hoopla for a political message like they continously do nowadays
This show is literally the iconic show for --> when you have a limited budget and sources, just played it by YOUR OWN GAME. The show used the elements most TV Shows forgot they had, especially GOOD WRITINGS! And as it turned out, THEY MASTER IT PERFECTLY!
Agents of SHIELD is one of my favorites because of the humor, the action, the ladies, and the found family trope. Truly amazing. After season 7 aired, I immediately rewatched it :D
My parents only just introduced me and my sister to agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. a few months ago because I was too young to watch them when they were coming out and then they just forgot entirely about the show but I am now a huge fan of it and I like it even more than a vast majority of the mcu films.
After a month, the visits in this video say a lot. So much love was poured into this show and so few cared. It's so unfair, but being the runner-up and the underdog overcoming difficulties sometimes doesn't have a reward. There is a little bit of a misesis between this video and AOS itself. AOS put all the effort in it, managed to make something unique and few watched. You made a great breakdown, critique and review of all 8 seasons and few watched. Mad respect for your work.
Easily one of the best reviews/summaries of one of my favorite TV shows in recent memory. Your 7:32 video has more effort put into it than some of the most clickbaitiest channels/websites around.
I binged all seven seasons over winter break and I really wish I'd hopped on the AOS train earlier...one could say the length of the show has something to do it, but I feel like I've connected with these characters so much more than ones in the MCU
damn dude you’re so underrated. and this video is inspiring me to watch the last season of the show. i’ve been holding out on watching it because i’ve watched aos for many years and i kinda grew up with it. i’ve been procrastinating finishing it because i’m not ready to say goodbye, but your video is giving me the push i need so thank you
SAME, I've put it off for a whole 8 months now, but I saw the last season and I fell completely in love. This show will always be an underrated Marvel Classic.
i wasnt there for the most part when the show was airing. i court the odd episode of the first season at my nans house and that was the extent of me watching it (i was 12 or in my early teens at the time, and had no idea about tv show scheduling). in that way it was a similar show to GOTHAM for me. but then i found it on disney plus. i put it on my watchlist and started watching the first season from the beginning later on. then the second season, then the third, and so on. i loved the show to death. it had some of the best writing of any marvel show i had ever seen up until that point, I was sad to see it finish. i go back to it now and again, but i will never forget it.
I just finished this seris yesterday for the first time and while it has it's ups and downs I honestly like it better than every MCU movie from infinity war on
6:27 that episode in particular is great. Deke's stolen songs and his "agents", the slasher-styled kills, murder robots, old TV Coulson, Mac bonding with Deke, every stylistic choice is intentionally funny. I loved rhat batch of heavily edited episodes to fit the decade and the finale was awesome.
There were two points in the MCU where AoS did connect, the Theta Protocol which aided the Avengers defeat Ultron, and the Sokovia Accords which did affect S.H.I.E.L.D. But if Joss Whedon directed Infinity War & Endgame, I believe there would have been a presence of S.H.I.E.L.D. in those movies.
See, I actually think that AOS is critical to the MCU going forward, and the reason for that is the fact that AOS actively talked about having multiple timelines in their last three seasons, and purely by accident set up the multiverse. This is going to be a bit long, so bear with me. I myselfy make the argument that in season 5, there were three alternate timeline created when Daisy fought Talbot. There's the prime MCU timeline where the snap happened, the one that all other timelines branch from. There's the season 5 timeline where the Earth broke apart, and given the timing with Infinity War, I'd imagine it would have either killed Thanos or blasted the Infinity Stones into the unknown depths of space so he couldn't retrieve them. Remember, in the season 5 timeline, they don't seem to talk about any galaxy wide cataclysm, they only talk about the Earth breaking apart. If the Snap had happened when the Earth broke apart, wouldn't they assume the two were connected? Now of course this is all more than likely just because the movies and the TV show didn't communicate with each other, but my point is, season 5 proved you could have an alternate timeline, because the battle ended and the Earth didn't break apart. And later, when Deke was still around in season 6, that proved that someone could move between timelines, that changing something in the past can't change the future, because if it did change the future, Deke would have vanished out of existence. Then there is the third timeline I'm convinced was created in that moment. When Daisy defeated Talbot, that stopped the season 5 timeline, ok, the AOS are not on that timeline any more. But think about the way it happened? She has the centipede serum, her Quake powers, and Talbot has the most gravitonium on the planet, and she blasts him into space. Let's assume, that at the same time that that happened, the Snap happened. Remember in Endgame where they said it was an energy burst so massive, no one had every seen anything like it? I think that the combination of all those elements at the same time was enough to create an alternate timeline, one where Thanos wasn't able to make the Snap (maybe that alternate timeline created in Endgame where Thanos left his timeline and never went back because the Avengers Snapped him?) After all, in AOS, who were the only people who knew about Thanos in the first place? Talbot and Coulson, (The Kree as well, but maybe he stayed in the season 5 timeline). Both of them died within a few weeks, and no one else seems worried or even knows about Thanos. Then there is the fourth timeline that AOS created in season 7, by going back in time and Shield being destroyed in the 1980s by the Chronicoms. You could argue that this could still make the future happen, that they rebuilt, but because John Garrett dies in that one and we clearly see him interacting with Nick Fury from Winter Soldier, I think there's enough evidence that this is a fourth timeline. So at this point, I think there is enough evidence to say there are at least 4 alternate timelines at play in this world. Now the real question is, which timeline has Loki taking the Tesseract from New York in Endgame? Do we go with the Endgame reasoning from Sorcerer Supreme that if you take an infinity stone out of the timeline, that creates a branch? So, would that have created one of these alternate timelines or is is a fifth one altogether? I'm going with the fifth timeline. I don't think any of this was intentional, it was purely an accident of the teams not being able to communicate. But AOS absolutely occurs across three timelines, with the two definitive ones in season 5 and the one in season 7. If you assume the third one where the Earth was safe and the Snap didn't happen in season 5, there's four, and there might be 5 with Loki taking the Tesseract. And I haven't even begun to talk about the shenanigans with the Doctor Strange movie
Also, in the MCU, you had three sides 1) The main movies where the big heroes save the universe and get all the kudos or hate 2) The Agents of SHIELD quietly saving the world and the universe in the background with no credit 3) The street-level heroes (the Netflix shows) fight to keep home going strong while everyone else in the universe is focused on the big picture.
7 months late but I loved every word of this video! AOS is my favorite part of the MCU to date! I need character development to stay interested and AOS is the best Superhero property to continually evolve it's characters!

As time went on AoS became the reason why I still had any interest in the MCU - I kept paying money to see the movies because they gave me an idea as to where the show was going next.

Agents of Shield was a great experience, and I don’t regret watching it. However, whenever I recommend it to someone I also tell them they should probably not go past season 3 as after that the continuity starts breaking, laser-focusing on one thing becomes a big issue, among other problems. It has great comedy and emotional moments, but it wasn’t perfect.
If they re introduced the agents of shield characters in the MCU with a bigger budget and all, I wanted it to be a Disney Plus movie. Similar to the lines of the trek films. Or hell, if Secret Invasion or Loki season 2 did just that, I’ll be hyped and all. Everyone would freak.
