Great selection! Untold night and day sounds very intriguing… I have also learned that Emmie’s recommendations are usually spot on 👌😊
I love the thumbnail of the video btw! So cute ❤

Oh I totally agree. I've found some really great books based on her recommendations that I've never heard of before ☺️
Thanks so much! I still feel like I haven't quite found my stride with thumbnails but it's been nice to be able to experiment a bit 💜

I'm not a romance reader, but I loved Book Lovers!! There's much more than romance in it 💜

I often hear that about Emily Henry books, so I'm looking forward to reading more of her books ☺️💛

I've been wanting to read the Book that Wouldn't Burn too, since I heard it enthusiastically reviewed last year. Like you, I've got a few fantasy series (especially the two you mentioned) that I'm trying to work through before picking up new shiny objects, but maybe I'll jump on this one if you say you love it. I hadn't heard of The Blue Book of Nebo but that sounds tempting also. So so so many books that I want to read all at once! I'd like to sneak Emily Henry's Beach Read into my summer also. I read Book Lovers last summer and I liked it. I don't read a lot of romance, but in the last couple of years I've made a bit of a "tradition" of picking up a rom-com or contemporary romance that's summer themed in the summer and one that's holiday themed around Christmas. Enjoy your reading!

I've heard really great things about it, so fingers crossed! 🤞
So many books to read, so little time, right?
I'm glad to hear you liked Book Lovers, too. I feel like I've been burned numerous times by romance books. Each to their own, but often I just find myself struggling my way through them.
I know it's absolutely not the season, but if you have any good Christmas themed books, do send them my way. I almost never read Christmas themed books, but I'd love to give some a go this year ☺️

@@aiscahill I'd recommend checking out Comfort and Joy by Kristin Hannah around Christmas. It's got a romance component but it's more than that. To me it was a nice blend of genres, feels, plot development, etc. Have you read any Kristin Hannah? I've also really liked The Women and The Great Alone by her. Edit: I just read some Goodreads reviews for Comfort and Joy and they were brutal, so I guess take my recommendation with a grain of salt! 🤣 But I still liked it. 😊 I would say, if you check out reviews, try to avoid spoilers.

@@Jodi9810 Oh brilliant, thank you! Yes, I've read and enjoyed The Nightingale and The Great Alone, so I'm happy to check out some more of her books even if they don't come the most highly recommended on Goodreads 😄

Your TBR looks exciting! I also got a good mix of books at my library:
To the bright edge of the world by Eowyn Ivey
    Underland by Robert Macfarlane (non-fiction)
The girl who drank the moon by Kelly Barnhill
The end of loneliness by Benedict Wells
    Imago by Octavia Butler
and Rental person by Shoji Morimoto (non-fiction, recommended in your comments by laughinstockfarm).
I don't read seasonal books, ever since I moved from Switzerland to South Africa, my inner seasonal feelings stay confused. We are in winter now and though the temperature some days doesn't climb over 8 degrees Celsius, we have a fair amount of sunny days over 18 degrees. That's why some days I feel wintery and others I thinks it's summer😂

I am also still trying to find a romance book that I like. It seems that Abby Jimenez and Emily Henry are booktube's most championed among lit fic lovers. I don't get those at my library.
So far, to enjoy some easy reading, I gravitate towards middle grade books, which generally serve the purpose😊.

Your library seems to provide you with a really great selection. I have The Girl Who Drank the Moon on my shelves for a couple of years but I'm determined to read it around September or October of this year. I'd also be really interested in reading more Octavia Butler and haven't even heard of Imago 'til now ☺️
Haha okay, I completely understand the lack of seasonal reading on your part though. Your winters sound very similar to Irish summers 😂
I didn't know that you're from Switzerland. My entirely unrealistic childhood dream was to move to an isolated cabin in the Swiss Alps after reading Heidi 😄

I was reluctant to try Abby Jimenez but I'm feeling more and more tempted the more I hear about her books. I'm really trying to just keep my head down and read my own books at the moment, so maybe next summer.
I love reading middle grade books, too. They really scratch an itch that books for other age ranges never seem quite able to reach ☺️

Hi Aisling!! 👋😂 I hope you enjoy The Book That Wouldn't Burn!!
I've never read Emily Henry and was tempted to pick one up a few times, but I just don't know. I'll be interested to hear what you think of Book Lovers. I am craving something fun and light like romance, but I just think I'm more a historical romance type person. The Girl Who Fell Beneath The Sea has the most gorgeous cover! I've only heard good things about it so hopefully you'll enjoy it! Can't wait to hear what you think

I saw your comment - FWIW, I think for a light historical romance you might try the Electra McDonnell series. It's maybe more mystery (spy stuff, set in WWII London - but fun/light, not heavy) but has slow burn romance woven through.

Fingers crossed, Suzanne. I've high hopes for it ☺️
After Beach Read, I still feel a bit on the fence about her but I'm absolutely willing to try more of her books. I own most of them on Kindle (thank you, daily deals!) so it wouldn't make sense to not read them. I'm quite like you in that regard - I enjoy books with romance elements but don't necessarily always love books solely focused on the romance.
Yeah, The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea seems like it could be relatively light and easy which I feel in the mood for, too, so hopefully it's worth the read!

"1984" is definitely not a read for pleasure 😅 more for an education, I'd say. don't be scared of "Brave New World", it is much easier and not so dark, although is also educational. Love your videos and thank you, have a nice summer reading!

    • @aiscahill

I thought as much, and I absolutely recognise its merits, but it certainly wasn't a reading experience I'd like to repeat 😅
I'm so glad to hear that about Brave New World - thank you.
And thanks for your kind words, and for watching. You too! ☺️☀️

if you didn't like 1984 you might like Brave New World still, they are quite different in almost everything except the genre really

Ah that's excellent to hear. While I absolutely recognise the literary merits of 1984, it just wasn't such a great reading experience for me. I'm looking forward to giving Brave New World a go for sure ☺️
