That's what I would have done. Or to see them equally. Passenger trains unless they are old like dining cars, do not excite me at all even if they are rare new ones like this.

For the people who don’t understand the video the reason why it’s called almost missed it is because everyone was watching for that second train to pass but it was almost blocked by the first train.
The Talgo sets are only used as a standard consist along the I-5 corridor between Portland, Oregon, and Vancouver, British Columbia. They were watching a rare trainset for the midwest.
@@cltidball The ALC-42 is an SC-44 but with a modified nose section which has kind of a bulge on it as opposed to the original SC-44 used by Amtrak Cascades and Amtrak Midwest.
I too wondered and recently looked into it. Yes there are websites, but from what I've seen, only outside of the U.S. or rarely in the U.S. (or they are just schedules) at certain locations and for passenger trains only. I mostly just wanted to know if there was a daily approximate time schedule, even if I had to keep a log and see if there was a pattern at all. For me I live by CN tracks and was only able to find a schedule of when the local train crews went on duty, from where, and their destinations. So that helped a little to provide a window time frame for local trains cause you have to factor in delays, travel time, other train traffic volume, track maintenance, etc... But that did not help at all for when the big trains come through. But then I kinda discovered an answer I was looking for and apparently what rail fans were using. There is a system called ATCS where by using a computer program and a software defined radio (like a police scanner but connected into your computer) you can decode the local radio signals to see the track rail light settings for sections of track (the ones trains obey whether to stop, slow down, or continue moving) and then you can, I'm assuming tell where trains are near you and their direction. I have not been able to find anything yet if people share their ATCS info online, so if you are looking for info other than nearby you, (depending on your radio, antenna setup, location, etc...) you may only get info from a few miles away. There is information online including how to set it up, where to download the free software, etc... I'm a radio and scanner hobbyist and was planning on getting a S.D.R. radio anyways.
That was actually a short one for us. But yes, I've noticed all the european one's I've seen are very short. I'm not that interested in passenger rail, but what I've seen of our amtrak, they are usually short as well though.
That Talgo is coming my direction soon enough! It will replace the Mt. Adams set on the Cascades, which derailed in December. The charger is mostly gonna be leased here as well.
This was before the station rehab last year. You can see the difference in the view you got then, compared to now. You could see the people much better back then. The new camera is in a little different position and must have a different lens with a different focal length, more of a wide angle. Can't see the passengers as well.
Awwww. I see now. The new SC-44 passenger train. If the BNSF came 30 seconds later, they'll block the view of the new train coming from the other track from the railfans. That'll be a very big disappointment. I see why they almost miss it. Make since now.
No idea, those boxcars can handle just about anything you can think of. You'd have to contact a high-up executive in BNSF to get that information. As far as I know not even the crew knows exactly what's in the train, although I might be wrong.
No need for it. The whole job of having a crew at the back has been delegated to a single EOTD (end of train device) that clips onto the rear coupler, providing brake system info at the back of the train and also emergency braking.
Where I am, there is a little town called Rogersville in New Brunswick, I would always look at the tracks every time I pass by there. If you can, Is it possible that you put a live cam at the station there? It’s in Canada.(probably unlikely lol)

I must say, this video is even better than the last one of the Amtrak Talgo train, because we almost had a meet! And the freight train even had a CSX unit as well! Thank you very much for sharing!
So, the title has people confused that the freight train (first one) would have been longer causing the onlookers to have missed the passenger train. They caught both trains, or so I'm gathering from the comments.

The length and size of that first one, I know there's longer but still... I can't fathom the kW of the locomotive or the start/stop times.
Start times are about 15 minutes to top speed. stop times are about a mile.
Was the Amtrak going to beech grove Indiana
I’m pretty every one of those new Talgo trainsets was bought up by the the states of Oregon and Washington for use on the Amtrak Cascades route
