I find it funny that Bharatis (modern-day "Indians") in the comments are arguing in favor of Porus and claiming him as theirs, while the battle took place in and Porus was from modern-day Pakistan (also known as ancient India). At the same time, they hate Pakistanis with a passion. LOL.

To identify Porus as being someone of Pakistani heritage because Pakistan currently occupies the land he ruled doesn't make any sense. His identity is alluded to only in Hindu sources, but he is not named what the Greeks called him. Porus's state consisted of the Taxila and Punjab region and when he submitted to Alexander, his state actually grew exponentially by fighting alongside Alexander. The sources clearly indicate the people were Hindu and were of similar ethnicity to the peoples along the Indus River - thus they were Indians. Pakistan exists primarily because of the suspicion and hostility between Muslims and Hindus. Of course Islam did not exist back then so there was no major cultural difference between the peoples of the Gangetic plain and the Indus River Valley. They did speak different languages and had different rulers as there was no united state until the rise of the Mauryan Empire which retook the lands from the Indo-Greeks.

@@DarkFilmDirector Nice mental gymnastics. We only know of Porus' existence because of Greek sources. He is not mentioned in ancient Pakistani sources. If you knew anything about history, you would know proto-Hinduism started in Punjab, which is mostly in Pakistan as well. Even the name is derived from a river that flows in Pakistan. Porus belongs in Pakistani history, not anywhere else.

Puru belongs in Pakistani history as much as in Indian History but Pakistanis do not (and sometimes hate to ) associate with their pre Islamic Hindu Past.
According to them their history starts with the invasion of ummayad commander Mohammed bin Qasim who is hailed as a great hero while the native Hindu King Raja Dahir is depicted as a villain
Expecting them to respect Porus is like asking Turkish people to celebrate Byzantine History
As for India any and all history related to Pakistani occupied land is part of Indian history since that land and the ancestors of modern Pakistanis always identified themselves as people of the "Hind"
It doesn't matter if the land is part of India or not many of our scripture were composed on the banks of rivers that flow in Pakistan and one of our greatest temples was in Multan which was subsequently destroyed by the iconoclastic Muslim invaders

King Porus' brother Amar killed Alexander's horse Busiphilus (Sanskrit-Bhavakapali) with his spear and slammed Alexander to the ground. The Greek army had never seen this happen in its entire wartime. When Alexander fell on the ground, King Porus was standing in front of him with a sword. Alexander was just a guest for a moment and Alexander's army fled with Alexander. And Sikandar occupied the whole world but succumbed to the great Porus, Sikandar could not capture the land of Porus.

To stop any further killing, he allowed Porus to surrender with many terms in his favor. Porus continued to rule the region but was ultimately controlled by Alexander.

Yes, the Indian army fought well, but that does not change history. Movies are not EXACTLY historically accurate. Alexander's army won the battle. Since the Indians fought so well, he allowed their king to rule the area. Since his army was tired of fighting, they turned back and headed home.
