I do listen to a lot of jazz fusion, some from video games and some not. I get recommend a lot of bass covers of songs like this, and I don’t think I’ve ever been so impressed than in this one
Thank you I really appreciate that. I'm still doing music, ended up getting a couple of music degrees along the way and I'm currently doing it for a meager living, so definitely still grooving!
@@BassAri Yeah man, so good. Watched a few covers of this, and yours is the tightest. Some other players have some different techniques down, but your timing is so rock solid, which is the toughest thing playing those crazy lines.
Hey man that was awesome, I really like the bass in that song so I immediately looked for a bass cover of it. I want to try bass guitar as well but for fun, any cheap bass guitar recommendations ? Thanks for the great cover man
Cheers! I managed to play my Fender Squier P-Bass (in the video) for a long time and it played well enough to get me deeper into music studies (It should be around 200 €ish). It also depends on what you want to play etc. (P-Basses are pretty allround as far as I know). If your budget is higher (~500€) I highly recommend SIRE Marcus Miller Basses. (I own the 5-String V7 and I really want another one lol). But I recommend you do some research on different basses and what you want to be playing. Hope this helps in any way :) Edit. Of course you can get basses around under 100€, but they are somewhat unreliable in terms of how well they work and might not even be fun to play in the long run. Also try different basses!
@@BassAri Thanks for the quick and detailed response ! I actually don't know I've never really played music before haha, it's just that Casiopea (especially Tetsuo) got me into really liking bass, so I have absolutely no clue about it lol. But I'll look for the 200€ guitar and try to look for myself. Is there anything else I need to buy to make it work (sorry if it sounds dumb). Thanks again !
@@jmnyot939 Not dumb to ask about things you don't know! An amplifier and an instrument cable to plug it in. There are plenty of cheap and compact amps out there, (I personally enjoy the new fender rumble series). I started out with a roland micro cube for bass! :)
O:24 its so fast what are you playing? Ive been learning this by ear and I hear a whole tone scale and the final note is F but your landing on a different note.
I had no clue about the fill back then, I just played the idea of the fill and the notes seem to be B major down from E here. As to what's on the actual record, the whole tone scale starting from F sounds right. The Mint Jams version sounds like it's down the scale to B and then to G (which is where I land here as well and I think is right). This version is a bit muddier to figure out (and the whole tone scale seems the right bet) but after hitting Eb it has a hint of A or (instead of Db), of which I'm not certain, and the usual - B - G. Perhaps someone can correct me here. Hope this helps!
Every instrument in this song is EXTRA HARD.
True, all of them are amazing musicians.
Tetsuo Sakurai is definitely one of the best fusion bass players. Good Job!
Yes indeed! Thank you!

Smooth, but not quiet the same to Sakurai smoothness :P
Thumbs up, all Casiopea fans will love this.
Well yeah Sakurai does some magic with the bass, still working on that :P

Hi what strings are you using on this recording? Are they flats ? Sound amazing 🎸🎸
Thanks! Actually they're roundwounds, Daddario EXL 165 if I remember correctly. But they were quite old and used I think. And some eq.
Cool!
great job!!!
Thanks!!
nicely done!!! I know it has been some time but which pedal did you use at 1:50??
I'd really like to try this one out myself, I love casiopea
It's a flanger effect!
What do they put in the water there in Finland? Other great demo is that Finn Hammond B3 player. Both impressive!
+radcam69 Thanks! Haha, it's probably the ice and cold!
Derrochas talento!
You did justice for sure! By the way, did your try the live version (1979-1980)? That line runs even faster, it´s a nice challenge.
Thanks, nice to hear that! ;) Yeah I've checked it out, it's busy as heck :p
Good job man!!!

Please tell me you have the tabs for this, also excellent playing!

damn I need to find a bass player like you man. awesome taste in music too in your videos.... where do you live again?
Haha, appreciate it a lot ;)
I live in Finland :p
Tutorial perhaps?
Dude how did you get that tone
As far as I can remember it's mostly hands, fairly used strings and the tone knob partly closed.
