[bass cover] Casiopea - Time Limit (Tetsuo Sakurai)

- Warning: 120bpm 16-th note fusion ahead!
I've transcribed this a long time ago but never took the time to try to learn this. Mr Sakurai's bass playing is fenomenal on this track. Check out the 1979 live version of this tune, even faster than this one and he keeps on being fluent like as it was at half speed!
My playing isn't near effortless-sounding as his but at least I've tried ;-) The bump from 100 to 110 was easier to get over than the one from 110 to 120.
As always: I hope you enjoy the music as much as I did transcribing and playing the part.

The technical stuff: Lakland 55-60 (Joe Osborn model) with d'Addario XL nickel strings, J-Retro Deluxe preamp, SWR DI out into SoundSkulptor MP5.66 preamp into computer.
I do not own any rights to the music, this video is just made for educational purposes

Hands down the most underrated bass line
the bassline of this song is so solid. Incredible cover!
I just recently discovered this song and I really like your cover! I know This is one of those perfect pieces that are way above my skill level, but are a really good exercise to get better.
Superb! At about 1:30 when you switch to slap you're cranking the tone knob up right? Just checking so I can get my J bass to sound as funky as yours haha. Awesome job, though. I only got the first part in funky A down, your video will help many bassists learning this funky goodness, sir.
And flange chorus, if I'm not mistaken?
@@Rizilo Thanks for your kind words, happy if this helps!
No extra effects added, what I do there is turn the balance knob on my preamp from bridge pickup to both pickups. That typical Jazzbass-type bass sound where some frequencies get enhanced by the double pickups and some get cancelled, sounds a little like there is some modulation going on. ;-)
Amazing!!!
Incredible...jawdropping!
DAMN!!!!!! well played sir. that really was insane. love the tone too
Great man! Weel done!
Good Job‼︎ Excellent‼︎

Killin
Yeahhhhh !!!
Huge fan of this song and your cover. You clearly get a ton of influence from Jaco Pastorius. Jealous of your right hand skills.
Take care
Hi man! Great vid, which recording are you using?
Thanks! You mean the version of the song I played along to? It's the 1982 Live version (Mint Jam picture on YT)
Hi Herwig, you play very good and I like your tone! Can you tell me the specs of your Lakland please? I have a 55-94 US but I would like to buy a 55-60 US.
Hi, Thank you for your kind words. This is a 2012 55-60, stock pickups and John East Retro Deluxe preamp. As far as I remember nothing fancy going on with the bass: standard body or dimensions, maple fretboard. I ordered it through Bass-Central in the US and the only thing custom was that they didn't drill the holes for the pickguard for me (have the PG and screws somewhere :-p.
I have a 55-64 as well - that one's great in its own right but this one gets more playtime.
Hello
Damn I love this tone.
Do you have the tabs for this?
thanks for your kind words. No tabs, only notes.
