I so look forward to your videos. I'm 68. I remember the first voyages to the deep ocean. To see how far this science has come is truly awe inspiring. Thank you
I'm amazed at how much is yet to be discovered in our oceans. Thank you so much for your videos showing us things we could dream of seeing for ourselves ❤
That's a mollusc?! It looks like a salp mixed with those swimmy scotoplains or one of those bell shaped translucent scoopy boys. Absolutely wild. Nature has a heck of a way of converging phenotypes based on the niche they occupy. Makes me imagine another planet would be full of creatures that an explorer might recognize as species of Earth, but with a completely unique taxonomical journey.
First saw a picture of this in The Deep by Claire Nouvian more than ten years ago - it was described only as a "mystery mollusc", and I always assumed I'd never know what it was. So cool to see that it finally has a name!

Thank you all for your hard work, I love to share your videos with my 8yo kid. I think it's the best way to create better humans for the future.
Beautiful! Thank you, MBARI, for the amazing and vital work you do.

It's really amazing how varied sea slugs are in color, shape, size, etc. Always love seeing new sea slugs.
Sea slugs are my favorite…they come in so many shapes and colors or in this case transparent! Thank you for your work.
I love them too. What's your favorite species?
@ hard to say…there are so many beautiful species.. and I definitely don’t know their names, lol.
That's fair
Nice to see Doc Ricketts’ name on the exploring vessel. He would be astonished at the deep sea research today.

Yes, nudibranchs are molluscs.
I had a chance to go into the institute when there was an open house years back. It was so cool! Amazing it was right down the road from our house

I used Nudibranchs to clean out my reef tank of aiptasia. A+ cool species.

Looks a lot like the predatory hooded nudibranchs in the family Tethydidae.

MOOOOO-BARRRRRI! Hi Shell.
New Subscriber here. EarthSky™ recommended the video and it's right down my alley of interests. ✅
That's great! It is more closely related to melibes than other nudibranches, or did they independently evolve the hooded mouths?
What is size of this slug? 🙂
this is wonderful news! 🥳 made my day 🥰

I am using 2:47 to propose the common name of Bobbit Molusk.
Nudibranch? My money was definitely on it being a pteropod.
Skip. The title is a lie. Discovered in 2020.
First observed in 2000. Research published in 2024. It's like video descriptions don't exist for you. Or a quick Google search......
