skz are geniuses. for a casual listener, listing random cheeses seems odd but actually, those cheeses enumerated in the lyrics are still kinda safe to eat even for lactose intolerant individuals. it just basically says that even if you are lactose intolerant, or in this case “skz intolerant” because you hate their music, you will still find a song or two that you’ll enjoy.

I feel like there’s multiple interpretations of CHEESE in this song.
1. Cue for smiling before taking picture: they’re gonna smile at all hatred thrown at them saying that they’re untalented group and their music is noisy.
2. Peace sign you make along with saying cheese (supported by finger gesture in the lyrics): they will still respect ppl’s opinions on them and continue to focus to explore new ideas and won’t let hate comments affect them as an artist in negative way.
3. Different kind of cheeses (ppl hv different tastes in music, and skz’s got wide range of menus in their discography): since antis been calling their music noisy, they will show/ emphasize the diversity of their songs in this album, and ppl may find the ones that suit their taste/ enjoyable but still hv the core SKZ color in it. In this way, they also showcase how versatile they are as an artist.
4. You will deffo smile by saying cheese when taking pic even if you’re in bad mood, thus you would make a good pic anyway (“you chew, taste, bite, enjoy so what’s the matter?”): although antis are hating on skz, these ppl usually will still check on skz’s work/ stream the song, talk about it in social media, spending their time to make a comment, it would only get SKZ more popular, and more ppl will check out their actual work and then most likely fall in love eventually lol. So SKZ might as well enjoy the ride.
5. AND THEY FRICKIN PUT CHEESE AS AN INTRO for Noeasy album, as in actual appetizer?! Bruh i bet their avg IQ is 150.

a fun mostly unnoticed fun fact about this song: when they’re naming the fingers to put down, it ends in a thumbs up. but if you pay close attention, in the final chorus, you can hear han saying a different sequence of fingers, while chan says the main line. this sequence ends up with them leaving their middle fingers up! it’s my favorite thing about this song. just the quietest f*ck you to the haters.

As you said, this song is essentially an f you to the haters who tell them that their music makes no sense and it's noise music. The Noeasy album was created for this. I connected "what's funny about a headache" with Side Effects (because of "mori apeu da"(my head hurts), but I might be reaching with this one.
A funny thing that I definitely wanted to include, because it doesn't say it in the subtitles and I think it's hilarious:
These two lines don't match in the lyrics because of the adlibs in the first one and are explaining two different hand movements:

I think my favorite part of this is when Chan says Index, Middle, Ring, and pinky finger, then fold them down. In the background, Han is saying Thumb and Index instead of Index and Middle. So if you follow Hans words, you would fold Thumb, Index, Ring, and Pinky. So telling everyone to flip off the haters. 😀
New to your channel and loving your SKZ reactions 💗 I just wanted to throw out there that as a newer Stay, I've seen anti's use this song as an example of their "nonexistent talent". Even without knowing all the context up to that point, I could understand that this song wasn't about actual cheese and that those haters were doing exactly what they were being dissed for in the song. This is one of my favorites just because it's so hype and it's SO confident. Its Also SO GOOD LIVE. I got to see them in Newark and this song is pure hype for them and energy for the crowd.

So CHEESE is a song made for all the Stary Kids haters. The first line is asking the haters why they thought the DU-Du-Du in God's menu was funny and why they were making fun of it. Many haters also made fun of Side Effects which is where the next line about the headache comes from. The line in Side Effects translates to " My head hurts" or headache. This CHEESE was a song made to make fun of the haters (diss track essentially) and also to show the haters that they don't matter and that Stray Kids are going to keep doing what they want to do no matter what.

came late to comment this buuut... cheese is indeed, a fck u song. it has a lot of word play, inside jokes and things that make us STAY think that they actually see some of the hate they get specially on twitter. However, they made this song as a hint for haters, like they won't stop making this kind of music and that bad criticism doesnt affect them. I'll explain some of the stuff in the song:
dududu is funny: people has always dragged god's menu for being noisy, and was called "construction music" (which they also made fun of in GM video)
headache is funny: side effects was also dragged a lot back in 2019, and if you remember well, theres this part that says "meori apuda" which translates to "my head hurts". side effects talks about the consequences of pursuing their dream, but ofc twitter stans dragged the song for the loud noise.
whats funny about A class vibes: this has various meanings but the one i saw was skz referring to their music build from 0, no samples taken, no other producers involved. A class compositions means all the song and lyrics were made by them, not from someone else.
index, middle and ring finger: while they are singing this part, han is saying ad libs on the back, which form the word "middle finger up". translators had to check this twice but confirmed that it can be heard like it, so its a fck u to haters haha
Deep in some parts of the MV:
Han and the dinosaur: han made a joke about watching hours and hours of documentaries about reptiles, and also, he's scared of dinosaurs, so hes referring to that
seungmin in IG live with eternal viewers: all eyes on skz, on what they're doing no matter if youre a fan or not you're watching them
thousands of post its in the rom: a metaphor to all the things they are told, and also, looks like cheese slides, so s brilliant

Du du du du du is referencing gods menu which some people would just say “oh stray kids are back with their noise”
The headache is referencing side effects where they say 머리 아프다 (meori apeuda) which means I have a headache or more directly my head hurts. Which got a lot of hate for once again being “noise” and not “actual music”
The magpies and pigeons are from gods menu again they got hate for this particular lyric because people didn’t understand why it was in the song and “seemed out of place” but the lyric was a metaphor for even people that are just passing by or casual listeners that don’t really listen to kpop would be satisfied with Stray kids music
And the crow cawing is in reference to their song awkward silence which some people didn’t take seriously because it was a very different side of skz and was much more goofy and “childish” and they got hate for that
You’re right this whole song is one giant fuck you to the haters and if this had been the first song you ever listened to it would make absolutely no sense without the backstory or knowing about the hate they get and it’s honestly one of my favorite songs because it’s such a a big fuck you. If I’m correct there was a video somewhere at a concert where during the part where they say fold your index, middle, ring, and pinkie finger (to make a thumbs up) I think it was Han that said fold your thumb, index, ring and pinkie finger (to hold up a middle finger) to really say FUCK YOU I saw it somewhere a while back but omg that video was soo funny.
CHEESE hace referencia a las críticas que tienen ellos y mencionan sus cancione El primer verso habla de GOD’S MENÚ Y SIDE EFFECTS por ejemplo. Si se presta real atención esto están haciendo con esta canción. A ellos les gustan los juegos de palabras y saber más de un idioma los hace invencibles, aparte de ser diferentes.
