    I believe it was later stated through supplementary materials that Jolinar was one of the few Goa'uld that the Tok'ra managed to convert to their cause, rather than being a "true" Tok'ra. It explains why she acted more like a Goa'uld than the other Tok'ra did, even if she ultimately had good intentions.

      Explains why she was so callous. Remember that at this point she's taken control of two unwilling hosts, something Selmak indicated later that the Tok'ra considered repulsive behaviour for one of their own.

      I actually wanted the Tok’Ra to be more like the other Goa’uld, but good. It’s a shame what they actually did with them. I always thought they were horribly underused and pretty much immediately replaced by the Asgard and the Ancients. They were almost pointless to the story in the end.

      @@EzraYalanBenjamin as they were first described in Jolinar's first appearance I initially thought of them as a reclusive community of fringe dwellers who kept to themselves, not a terrorist group operating within the Empire.

      @@tompearce5418 that would have made a lot of sense, though I’d have seen them intervening when necessary. I also imagined them as having ships, planets, some luxuries without the oppression, slaves and Jaffa. Theyd have been the cultured, spiritual, scientific and philosophical Goa’uld. Somewhat like what the Ancients could have also been had they not fully ascended. I really don’t like what they actually did with the Tok’Ra, to be honest.

      I thought that Goa'uld couldn't be swayed to the Tok'ra cause because their inherent evilness and lust for power and worship was quite literally ingrained in their DNA

    It was an annoying intro to the Tok'ra...they could of straight up explained everything and cleared up any misunderstandings and it would all be resolved.

      To be fair, the Tok’ra were not clearly thought out…like at all. Egeria sort of randomly gets added to the Tok’ra lore later, and even that doesn’t really fit with what we get even later.
      That being said, I do agree with you. The Tok’ra were often victims of bad/biased writing, and any insults towards them were considered justified. Imagine if Jack went years calling the Jaffa snake-bellies?

    • @tompearce5418
      @tompearce5418 Рік тому +10

      The Tok'ra were hostile to the idea of an equal partnership with unblended humans - when the Tauri made formal contact later they stated clearly that their idea of an alliance was using Earth as a source of new hosts, and that was about it. It appears they viewed humanity as too "young" to fully relate to them in a mature fashion, no matter their ideals.
