It used to be £3 for 3 courses pre 2020 but they reluctantly had to put it up £1. They have people eating there 7 days a week. It’s a poor area with a lot of widows and widowers - it’s an incredibly affordable full meal, and served in a wonderful homely environment with lovely welcoming people like Ally. It’s many people’s only company. Long may it continue!! 👏
I was about to say that this sort of place would bring succour to elderly people, who can't afford to splurge but really need to engage with other people. Bless this place, I'll definitely have a few pints there next time I'm up.
It's probably cheaper than anything the government provides. And a pub is a social centre too, what can be wrong with this. I wish the Star Bar all the best for the future
They definitely deserve a 10/10 Gary, got quite emotional watching that. To put themselves out and probably make a loss just to help those that are down on their luck is so so rare in the world we live in. Well done to The Star Bar! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I think not just people down on their luck but anyone who appreciates friendly company and a decent home cooked meal - I’ll definitely give it a go when I’m in the city again.
When you have food that gives you such emotion, how on earth can you not give it a 10+ ? Basic food that is tasty beats any overpriced celebrity stuff out there.
Think of all the oap's, people with disabilities, people who can't cook, don't know how to cook, a good meal and company can completely change your mood, mindset, give you something to look forward too. In these currently horrible times for so many this is simply wonderful to know a place like this exists. I've cried typing this out because I know so many people are struggling and I wish I could help them all ❤ Thank you for the video Gary.
10** from me. In these hard times what a wonderful place for people to go and get an hearty meal with friendly staff. . You couldn't make that for £4 at home. Wonderful vlog Gaty wonderful review ❤ x
Wait till the migrints get wind of this place it will be flooded with them and the people who really need it will stop going … sounds like a complete crazy comment but it’s 1000% true & sad
Cheers from Glasgow, can’t believe you reviewed the Star Bar……brilliant….they have been doing this for many, many years, great honest people doing a service to the less fortunate. Best episode ever
Surprised the Glasgow football clubs aren't supporting this place. If they arent they are missing a trick as a community exercise. If they, good on them.
@@weechief2009 fantastic people serving others God bless them long may it reign, I am frightened to put the heating on, but you got something hot inside that’s all you need God bless them 🙏❤️♥️❤️🙏♥️
Hey Phil seen your post and just thought id let you know that my club Celtic do a lot for the local community, and the homeless, and hungry. They donate thousands each year, as well as doing food banks etc. @@philwill0123
100/100! can you image how much this helps people, especially the elderly community get a nice warm meal when they are struggling to just pay the bills. love this so much and reminds me of living in spain going down to the local pub and getting a daily meal for a couple of £. these are people that do it for more than just the money. hats of to them.
Of all the places you've been, fancy meals, fine dining etc, this is actually one of the best reviews you've ever done, Gary. It was clear how personal it was, too. And of course, a 10/10. Those people are angels.
Fills your heart there are still places in the UK that still support their community. Sadly almost gone. This video brings joy, but really more of a tear for a fallen nation.
@horacephistbump 100% bang on should be more places like this especially these days I went to one pub last week £30 just for a steak this pub is doing 3 course £4 how many family members would benefit off that...truly amazing I wish them all the luck in the world.
This isn't just the most heartwarming food review, it's the most heartwarming 15mins of vlogging full stop. So much of what matters socially has been eroded by capitalism, so huge praise to The Star Bar and others like them for bucking that and caring to offer a truly important service for the area. These are the kind of pubs I remember from my youth and I can totally relate to Gary having an emotional response. Our communities are all the poorer when they disappear. 10/10 for them. And Gary for coming to Glasgow to promote. Thank you.
Since Liz Truss I have been experiencing poverty like never before (not proud). I am learning a lot and I think it is making me a kinder, more compassionate, more humble person. To offer families a place to go for a meal at an affordable price has so much more value than a full tummy. It can be difficult to appreciate when you have a few quid about you. Thanks for reviewing.
Gary, I found myself tearing up as I watched your obvious joy and enjoyment! Simple food, prepared correctly, fills the belly & the soul! Hands down the most affordable, community-minded place you've visited! Absolute gratitude and appreciation for the compassionate, hardworking owners who are going the extra mile for their friends and fellow townsfolk. I would give them a 10 out of 10 all day long!! Bravo! Wonderful, heartwarming video, my friend!😊❤
@@momuv6980 Same here I always went there with my mum and sister but sadly no longer here but seeing Gary on UA-cam eating in star ⭐️ bar a lot of good memories and good times in star ⭐️ bar had a tear in my eye going on Saturday with my daughter thanks 🙏 Gary made my day seeing this thank you 😊🏴❤️
Just for having you smiling and full of emotions, they deserve a 10. Zero bullcrap, zero modern "aesthetics", zero renowned chefs, zero pretentious "ambience", zero twisted specialities, but 10 for being honest providers of a warm, hearty, normal homemade cuisine. Cheers!
I give it 10* because they are providing a service to the community. People under pressure from the cost of living crisis but at this price point it is probably cheaper than mesls on wheels and allows older folks who may not have much contact with others on a daily basis to come somewhere with a warm welcome and good food and maybe a chat. Also maybe a treat for the family to get out too and also circulate with others.. it would be wonderful if more pubs did this to make pubs the heart of the community again and provide a great service. It is heartening and terrific.
Forget the marks out of 10 Gary, it deserves its own recognition award so it’s a Golden Star. I’ve been a viewer of your channel and subscriber since the beginning and this is in the top 3 reviews you have done, your heart felt emotions and words speak volumes about what kind of a person you are. Absolutely brilliant my friend, keep up the great work and showing us subscribers there is more to food reviews than high end Michelin starred restaurants. Well done.
The cost, and quality, of this is just incredible. Hats off to the place! Also I can tell you loved the place, you were beaming the whole video, lovely to see it.
I used to go into the Star Bar as a student for a decent cheap meal and drink all those 30+ years ago - it's great to see that the ethos of the place is still alive and hopefully it's thriving. Brilliant that you're in Scotland Gary and as usual covering all the eating bases with passion and honesty!
Is alan yde the bookie still going ? This was the pub he used to go to tell us about bloody hell 20 years ago i lost touch when lost a phone😊an all me numbers
Thanks Gary, love the review as always. Regardless of the quality of the food, 4 pounds is a testament to the consideration the pub’s owners have for the community. Much respect from Canada.
One of your best reviews yet. I grew up in a working class housing estate in Ireland, community pubs like this are worth their weight in gold. They actually care about their customers wellbeing, how rare is it to find a business where profit isn't the main priority. It would cost the customers more to make a meal like that for themselves every day than it costs to eat here. The owners are absolute pillars of their community. Next time I'm in Scotland I'll definitely visit. I'm almost in tears posting this, I'm a Socialist and this has given me such faith in the working class. Thank you Gary. Anyone know the owners names to give them a shout out?
its truly sad. The Pub, or Public House used to be central to a local community. And it wasn't central for the publicans to make their coin, it was central so the community had a heart and hearth where all could gather. Unfortunately, government regulation has had a large effect on pubs, so it is not always the owners, but the regulations, red tape and unbearable taxes. Few Publicans today are making the killing many people think they are.
What a brilliant initiative looking after the community like that. It's not just a meal but a chance to talk to others and get out of the house for many. Bless them for doing good for others. The food looked lovely and no wonder you left looking so happy.
Loved this wonderful review of this lovely pub in Glasgow. So positive, so genuine, and yes!, wholesome and well-cooked food that fills up and warms up the stomach and the soul! Lovely! And, hello from Guam, in the Western Pacific, where this retired US Navy Lt Commander wishes he was not half a world away from the UK, and Glasgow and the Star Bar. Lovely!
This is probably the most wholesome video I’ve watched in a long time. It’s beautiful seeing your memories of childhood flooding back through something as simple as peas, the power of food. Great video once again!
Oh Gary, that really touched your heartstrings, didn't it? In this workaday world isn't it so precious to see a local for locals, giving decent food for very reasonable prices? I hope the community appreciates this absolute gem of a pub and supports it to the hilt. You can't argue with £4 and I bet it was more nutritious than 90% of places, and certainly better than any takeaway.
Right. It's homemade food that is healthy with lots of veg. If an elderly person was struggling those three courses and a breakfast or small supper would do them for the day. It would heat them up and sustain them or anyone on a small budget that wanted to have a meal out. We all deserve a meal out now and then no matter what our budget.
This is my favourite video out of all the ones you’ve uploaded so far. There’s something so honest and sincere about food like this. Of course, most of us watching these videos can afford food that is considerably more posh than this, but this kind of food just speaks to so many people. I’m Canadian, and I’ve never been to the UK, but when I eventually visit, I’m for sure paying this place a visit! Great review Gary!
That's an easy and very big 10 out of 10! What wonderful people helping out their community like that, where many people are starving, a homely meal in a friendly atmosphere, and good sized portions too!
As a glaswegian whos grandad adored the star bar its food and amazing staff it truly is a 10/10 special addition to the city we are all very grateful for. Atmosphere good food that is always perfectly cooked and a smile on all the staff's faces who go over and above for all customers ❤
Watching you smile as you ate the peas and talked about the memories they brought back of your mother and father was so lovely. Great hearty food at the great price £4.00 is unheard of. Kudos Glasgow.
Hello. A Scottish pub serving the local community...brings back so many memories from my childhood in the Highlands. Most are gone now, but this was tradition. Thanks for doing this video, much appreciated.
They look like Marrowfat peas. I'm originally from the UK but moved to the US 10 years ago. I love your channel, Gary; it warms my heart, especially since I lost my mother to dementia a few months ago. She lived in the UK and was born in 1939 into a farming family. This type of food is what I grew up with, and it brings back so many memories... I'm going to step away for a little cry now... Love it!!
So sorry to hear about your Mom. I just lost mine to dementia as well. 13 months ago. Strange you should also be the first person I've seen who mentioned the peas. I wish he had shown them a bit closer. To me they appeared to be what we call in the American Deep South as Crowder Peas. They were my Mom's favorite. One of mine too Second only to White Acre Peas.
@@Echochamber79 they definitely are marrowfat peas, not my favourite unless they're swimming in vinegar. Sorry to hear about your mum, lost my mum a few years ago to hospital negligence while in a dementia ward. (Not being observed enough) Strangely enough, she was born in 1939 too.
First time seeing your videos and what a genuine and lovely review, highlighting somewhere that gives back to the community and helps so many people afford decent meals. This is what it's all about and I'm sure it's filled so many people with hope and joy, keep supporting and celebrating places like this, they're awesome!
Some lovely reviews from your fans/subscribers, Gary. 10/10 for their humanity and appreciation and a solid 10/10 for The Star Bar! Warms the cockles! ❤
Problem these days portion sizes have dropped dramatically gone the days of paying for a suitable 3 course meal and feeling full, now it's 5 courses served on a bed of burning twigs for a smoke infusion.... then stop off at McDonald's on the way home. I want to be fed and walk away satisfied, not questioning if I should be a veggie or vegan (no disrespect intended). I've recently left the chef world, and for me morally, I got fed up ripping off the consumer and wishing them a nice day.
Yeah the use of ‘shrinkflation’ whilst still putting the price up is criminal but equally with operating costs and commercial rents absolutely skyrocketing it’s not surprising
No matter where you are on the planet there are people cooking with a little bit of money making the ingredients go a very long way. I don't know what it is about places like this but they make me extremely happy
I've eaten there a few times and was struggling to hold back the tears after I'd left. Not because anything was wrong, but because I had experienced good, ordinary food and been made to feel happy and to get that warm, honest atmosphere that frankly no other city in the UK can equal in my opinion. If this isn't a 10 out of 10 purely for the sheer joy on your face, then I've missed the point of your content, which never fails to grab my attention in a most positive way. Lots of love, Jaye ××🎉🎉❤
love it Gary, we spent a lot of time in Glasgow going to gigs and looked for laces like the Star Bar away from the tourist/fashionable places and we have had some amazing weekends in some of the most fabulous pubs and local clubs you could ever imagine lovely places, lovely people...
Thanks again Gary. What I loved about this (as the Matthews Fish & Chips episode) is that it made me smile and feel good that there are really nice , clever people out there who work so hard within their community. As an Englishman I have always loved Glasgow, having worked there many years ago. The people are some of the toughest, most brilliant, funny, kind, generous, irreverent and genuine people in these islands and to see this and your conclusion was fantastic (especially the call to help others). My overall mark out of 10 would be 10 for the joy and knowing there are people who refuse to change for all the best of reasons. Well done Glaswegians, you never let us down!
Watching this on the west coast of the USA. I think this is one of your very best reviews. Lump in my throat as I watched this. 10/10 all the way. Grew up in Birmingham and pubs like the Star Bar were woven into the fabric of the community. That fabric has been neglected and it warms my heart to watch this video. Salute to the owners and staff of the Star Bar and to you Gary for such a heartfelt review.
I think my wife/I would be hard pushed to cook a three course meal at home for £4. That is brilliant: and what a service the staff are providing for their community. Good on you for featuring this pub, Gary.
check out atomic shrimp's budget challenges, he makes some weird stuff on low budgets, it's not easy at all. I could probably do it, but it would be tricky
I'm so glad you enjoyed great Scottish hospitality, please let me pay for your meal at the Star Bar. If your in the Stirling area, I highly recommend the Allanwater cafe in Bridge of Allan. Fantastic fish teas.
Great that you visited the Star Bar Gary. I walked past it recently but next time I'm for a lunch in there. I live about 7 miles away but sometimes I'm in that part of Glasgow, so I'll have to pop in and try it out.
Hey Gary Glad you had a good experience. £4 Domino's pizza are currently advertising a small pizza for the same price as this meal. Shouts out to this pub serving their locals. 👏🏽
Wonderful as always, Gary. I felt the emotion when it took you back to mum & dad’s cooking and I think any food that does that is very special. Best wishes to you & your son 😊
This made me smile. My dad used to be a bus driver, and the bus station is close by. On a shift change he used to pop into The Star for the lunch deal. Great video.
Gary, I loved that. One of your best. The honesty that prevailed from that establishment and through the food shone through. I don’t mind saying that I had a tear in my eye watching that. Love it 10/10 ❤
You put a smile on my face the way you were enjoying the food and mentioning lovely memories of childhood which in turn made me recall mine too thankyou
Been watching a few of your vids Gary and when this popped up on my page; being that I don’t stay far from the pub, was really happy to see you enjoy this little gem of a place. May not look like much from the outside but with its warmth, affordability and welcoming; it really is a diamond at the heart of the community.
I did my very first 'eating out' review on my own very small food & kitchen channel a few weeks ago on a total community enterprise - The Folk Hall in New Earswick in York and it has been the most watched video I have done - obviously I don't get views like you Gary but it goes to prove that there is a need for community kitchens or business-led initiatives in Britain and people like to watch them and appreciate the immense benefit they give to any community. So, please keep up the good work! It is always a pleasure to see you covering ALL meal options, Gary. Thank you.
Gary, it was great to see the delight on your face, what a great place... And an even better experience, bringing back treasured memories is priceless... For looking after the community, they are total gems. When I visit Glasgow, I will definitely pay a visit and be sure to tip!
This is one of my local restaurants, Gary & what The Star Bar does for the community is incredible. Both the elderly and people with a low budget are able to eat and socialise and it doesn't cost very much at all. It makes me proud to be from Glasgow. There are still great places out there, even in the most difficult of times. Anyway, back to your review. Honest, fair and non judgemental. Gary... I'm so glad that you tried out this cafe/restaurant and I'm glad that you've ventured into Scotland. It is heartwarming to hear that the dishes reminded you of past times with your parents' cooking. Food should take you on a journey, as well as bringing back good memories. This is what food should be about. ❤x
@GaryEats Thank you for highlighting this place to your vast fan base. The owners and people that help out are the real heroes... we al should be doing more to help those there aren't as fortunate as what we are.
Oh this has moved me to filling up. So like the food I remember from my 70s childhood here in what was then a coal-mining village. The need for places like that in communities is huge and yes I like jelly - though we had it with IDEAL milk from a can with a blue label with white stripes. So loved seeing you experiencing a bit of the past in the now...
Gary what an absolute joy to watch 😂 I didn't realise that places like this existed . And thank goodness they do , it's so wholesome and rustic, and makes you realise you don't have to have all the bells and whistles to provide a decent eating experience . Your genuine enjoyment was infectious 😂 10/10 for the food , but complete respect and kudos to the Star Bar for making a difference to their community❤
I'm not only giving the Star Bar a 10 out of 10 for everything it offers and stands for, but I genuinely think the people that selflessly deliver that food at that price to service their community are worthy of every honour possible. MBE, CBE, OBE, Consumer Champions, TV Recognition, Financial Rewards through Endowments. You name it, we should give it to them. I hope this unbelievable vfm and selflessness makes the likes of Tom Kerridge and Salt Bae take a long hard look at themselves and the pricing they are trying to justify.
@@grahamd9518 yes correct massive respect to the owners of that pub i would spend my money in that place every time instead of those rip off places like kerridge and salt bae just imagine they must only be making about a pound profit on each meal but obviously its not about the money its about giving something to a local community where the people havent got a lot of money not many places about like this so they deserve all the respect and luck in the world
Not only the soup was warming - so was the whole video 👍 I really enjoyed how much you emphasized the importance of such a place for the community, thanks to them and thanks to you.
Been there a few times and always feel welcome. The regulars always have a laugh and let everyone get involved in pool. Keep up the good work Star Bar!
Hello Gary from Australia! Aa a expat of 20 years your channel is a real refreshing look at UK restaurant culture and I give you 10 out of 10! I give The star bar 10/10 for every aspect of what they do, especially for community unlike so many celebrity chefs. Please keep up the good work and I look forward to many more videos! 😊
Hiya Gary, the exterior is rough and ready. A throw back to Glasgow in the late 50's and early 60's. But bearly minutes in and you can feel the warmth. Not just the soup😊WOW, an old-fashioned stew. My mum was a basic self taught cook. Meals like this were hearty, best ingredients we could afford. Heaps of onions and carrots. Boiled potatoes. Have to confess, few tears falling. She passed many years ago, but I'm back in our old kitchen. Family, how important to cling on to those memories. Fabulous forkful, mashed potato, stew. Jelly and ice cream, to be honest the the rice pudding would have caught my eye. So what can you say 🤔A massive thank you for the way the people behind the curtain are looking out for their community. Should be mentioned in dispatchs ❤❤it can be done, not making a fortune, if breaking even I'd be surprised. Sadly we will be more dependent on places like this. A solid video, interesting informative and needed to be made and shown. Well done both of you, wonderful work. Take care of yourself and continue to make such great content. Allan&Family
What an amazing, compassionate and heartwarming venue! They clearly have the needs of their community at heart. I hope people who are passing go there, support them and enable them to continue to offer affordable food for a LONG time to come. It looks hearty, nourishing and pretty well balanced. Some celebrity chefs would do well to climb down from their pedestals and investigate the REAL needs of the REAL people in their locality! How many who live next door to some of their restaurants can afford to eat at them, even once in their lifetime? Thank you for showcasing The Star Bar. I know where I would head to if I was ever in Glasgow! Much love to those who work so hard to keep the place as warm and welcoming as the food! Brilliant!
Love your honesty and you can see you have that grounded background where you understand what the basics are. In some ways I feel a lot of places could do with getting back to basics.
Definitely a 10/10. Can't even buy a decent microwave meal for £4 so a 3 course meal eating out is unbelievable value. And homecooked, just like going to your grandma's for dinner! Now I'm craving jelly and custard, or trifle!
Definitely a 10 Just simple basic food for £4.00 and for it to evoke cherished memories for you. You can’t beat it. So many people are struggling and for them to do this for the community is just the best Yet another great review Gary 😊
When you said £4 i had to turn my phone up as i thought I'd misheard you.Its so nice to see other people looking out for other people that aren't as well off. Scottish people are very friendly. The elderly would truly love this and others down on their luck as well. I've been there and bought the t.shirt. They look like processed peas and that's a special memory of my mum,we had them every Sunday. Great review home from home .😊 😋 xxx Without a doubt 10 out of 10 ⭐ .
Gary, you always have a smile on your face when you go into a restaurant but not always when you leave. This has got to be the most I’ve seen you smile from start to finish, especially your memory Lane dessert. All that was missing was a party hat! Fair play to the owners for serving their community. It’s an easy 10+ from me 👍
We have had many many happy holidays in Scotland (all the way from England!) and have yet to meet a local we didn't like. Always felt welcome. Great memories, we'll be back ❤
I'm a proud Scot and Glaswegian and it's only the extreme, idiotic nationalists who have a totally irrational problem with English folk. Empty vessels and all that 😀🏴🏴🇬🇧🏴
Good old fashioned simple wholesome food designed to fill you on the cheap , these guys are to be applauded for turning that out for so little and never have I seen you so happy 😁 It's easily a straight 10 from me purely based on their service to the community 👍
Here is to you for doing this place. Yes it was emotional to see your humble comments on such modest fare. Not high dining but honest. Brings a tear to a blind eye. One of your very best. Keep up the good work and I hope you get the upvotes this visit and coverage deserves. I don’t know what else to say. Humbling!
10/10 Gary. This is one of your best ever videos brought straight from the heart. Plain to see what a vital community link the pub is. Locals can get a proper hot meal in a friendly environment and have contact with others. Even treating oneself to a pint to go along with it seems affordable. The pub should be lauded for the service it provides.
Absolutely brilliant, Star bars been there for ever and a day, remember it from 40 plus years ago, hope it’s still there 40 plus years on, 11/10 easily, food looked good before you even tried it, 👍🥃.
What a bargain. Love soup. It's so lovely that this venue is offering this 3 course for £4. Bless them. A super deal for those that are struggling or just need a warm up on a cold day .Beautiful ❤️ Super review our Gary. Thank you for sharing sweet .
Thank you so very much, you are a star

Hey Phil seen your post and just thought id let you know that my club Celtic do a lot for the local community, and the homeless, and hungry. They donate thousands each year, as well as doing food banks etc. @@philwill0123
They also do a sleepover each winter inside the stadium for the homeless.
100/100! can you image how much this helps people, especially the elderly community get a nice warm meal when they are struggling to just pay the bills. love this so much and reminds me of living in spain going down to the local pub and getting a daily meal for a couple of £. these are people that do it for more than just the money. hats of to them.
You know. Damn right.

Of all the places you've been, fancy meals, fine dining etc, this is actually one of the best reviews you've ever done, Gary. It was clear how personal it was, too. And of course, a 10/10. Those people are angels.
That’s really appreciated
Just like having your tea at your Granny's house! What a godsend this place is... they deserve every award going.
Definitely great memories
Tears to my eyes - good food isnt expensive and these guys are putting so much back into the community I pray it succeeds
I agree Neil long may it continue
Relax.
Gary my gran used to live in the second floor of the building ,the price is absolutely stunning 😁
Wayne Kerr staimer will kill it unfortunately
You seem insane
Fills your heart there are still places in the UK that still support their community. Sadly almost gone. This video brings joy, but really more of a tear for a fallen nation.
Amazing initative!!
@horacephistbump 100% bang on should be more places like this especially these days I went to one pub last week £30 just for a steak this pub is doing 3 course £4 how many family members would benefit off that...truly amazing I wish them all the luck in the world.
"Fallen nation .." Never a truer word spoken. It’s wonderful to see a business rise high above that said fallen nation and shine like a beacon. ❤

So negative about our country go live somewhere else if its that bad trust you be right back after a week
Thank you.
You sir, have nailed it.
What a lovely lovely comment Pete. Have a superb weekend.
Spot on mate.
If it wasn't for capitalism you wouldn't have food on the table. Ever seen a pub in North Korea?
Beautifully put!👏👏👏
Since Liz Truss I have been experiencing poverty like never before (not proud). I am learning a lot and I think it is making me a kinder, more compassionate, more humble person. To offer families a place to go for a meal at an affordable price has so much more value than a full tummy. It can be difficult to appreciate when you have a few quid about you. Thanks for reviewing.
I do understand your point completely thank you very much and please take care
Nothing to do with Liz truss, try a labour government and see how poor you get
You could feed 2 parents and 3 kids for £20. And its decent home cooked food. Couldn't even get a McDonald's for that . 10/10 👊💯
Well said Gary
And you'd be hungry 10 mins after the McDonald's.
@snotgoblin exactly 💯👊
Is it all home cooked? If it is, I’m there.
McDonalds should only be compared to a bag of crisp and chocolate bars. Its not a proper meal.
This has to be one of the very best if not the best Gary Eats video. Totally heart warming tear jerker. Well done the Star Bar.

The Star Bar will benefit hugely from your review Gary.
They deserve huge plaudits and so do you for doing the video 👍
I really hope they do Gerard
Just for having you smiling and full of emotions, they deserve a 10. Zero bullcrap, zero modern "aesthetics", zero renowned chefs, zero pretentious "ambience", zero twisted specialities, but 10 for being honest providers of a warm, hearty, normal homemade cuisine. Cheers!

Definitely a 10/10. Supporting local community is awesome and refreshing. Great video once again.
Couldn't agree more! Thank you
I give it 10* because they are providing a service to the community.
Very good point about it being a place for families and friends to meet up for a meal out, at a price that is pretty much affordable for all.
Well said 👍👍
No meals on wheels now
Easily cheaper than Meals on Wheels.
Well said and what a brilliant comment
Forget the marks out of 10 Gary, it deserves its own recognition award so it’s a Golden Star. I’ve been a viewer of your channel and subscriber since the beginning and this is in the top 3 reviews you have done, your heart felt emotions and words speak volumes about what kind of a person you are.

Unfortunately, altruism is a rare commodity.
Thank you very much and I'm so sorry to hear that I reduced you to tears. I think the owners are May and John!
What a fantastic place 10/10. In a world full of greed, this is so refreshing to see and hats off to the owners. Great work all.
its truly sad.
@@thecocktailian2091 Yes, Overheads & taxes are astronomical.
What a brilliant initiative looking after the community like that. It's not just a meal but a chance to talk to others and get out of the house for many. Bless them for doing good for others.
The food looked lovely and no wonder you left looking so happy.
I agree completely Jan 🌹
Loved this wonderful review of this lovely pub in Glasgow. So positive, so genuine, and yes!, wholesome and well-cooked food that fills up and warms up the stomach and the soul! Lovely! And, hello from Guam, in the Western Pacific, where this retired US Navy Lt Commander wishes he was not half
a world away from the UK, and Glasgow and the Star Bar. Lovely!
That’s very kind to say, thank you very much
This is probably the most wholesome video I’ve watched in a long time. It’s beautiful seeing your memories of childhood flooding back through something as simple as peas, the power of food. Great video once again!
That has just made me smile. The simplicity of it and the joy on your face. Thank you.
I’m still grinning, marvellous place, great people!😊
Thank you
Oh Gary, that really touched your heartstrings, didn't it?

Absolute 10 out of 10 chefs should take note
Well said Warren!
You and me both
I've eaten there a few times and was struggling to hold back the tears after I'd left.

Thank you very much for your wonderful comment Daniel and I fully agree
Watching this on the west coast of the USA. I think this is one of your very best reviews. Lump in my throat as I watched this. 10/10 all the way.

Hello Colin. Brilliant and thank you
Hiya Gary, the exterior is rough and ready.
This was everything you can ask for Allan and another fantastic comment from yourself. Please send my regards to Elizabeth!
Brilliant!

This has got to be the most I’ve seen you smile from start to finish, especially your memory Lane dessert. All that was missing was a party hat! Fair play to the owners for serving their community. It’s an easy 10+ from me 👍
Much appreciated, thank you
So happy to see you in Scotland Gary, yes, the people are lovely and friendly, and we don't hate the English.
Empty vessels and all that 😀🏴🏴🇬🇧🏴
Thank you Tris, I did worry for a second lol
Good old fashioned simple wholesome food designed to fill you on the cheap , these guys are to be applauded for turning that out for so little and never have I seen you so happy 😁
It's easily a straight 10 from me purely based on their service to the community 👍
Well said and thank you
Brilliant, heart warming video! I could see the nostalgia on your face. What a great place. Thumbs up!
Thank you very much, Georgina
🤗 that warmed my soul Gary!!
My eyes were stinging alongside yours... Gotta be a 10, just to see you contented and reminiscing. Bless them
Here is to you for doing this place. Yes it was emotional to see your humble comments on such modest fare. Not high dining but honest. Brings a tear to a blind eye. One of your very best. Keep up the good work and I hope you get the upvotes this visit and coverage deserves. I don’t know what else to say. Humbling!
Beautifully said. ♥️
What a wonderful comment
Gary, so glad you have ventured up to my area of Scotland and shined a spotlight on these communities in Glasgow. Brilliant man!
10/10
Thank you Chris!
Well done Star Bar, you did Glasgow and Scotland proud. Great review, can't get the smile off my face, 10/10
Thank you very much. I agree.
10/10 - So glad you liked it. I've been taking the family there for years. Great review too.
Thank you, I really appreciate that
Nice one Gary thanks for coming up 🏴🇬🇧
I had a great time 🏴🏴
10/10 Gary. This is one of your best ever videos brought straight from the heart. Plain to see what a vital community link the pub is. Locals can get a proper hot meal in a friendly environment and have contact with others. Even treating oneself to a pint to go along with it seems affordable. The pub should be lauded for the service it provides.
Thanks so much
Absolutely brilliant, Star bars been there for ever and a day, remember it from 40 plus years ago, hope it’s still there 40 plus years on, 11/10 easily, food looked good before you even tried it, 👍🥃.
It sure is a top pub!
This was so lovely to watch Gary, really heartwarming episode, 10 star review as well as establishment! 🤓🥩🥂
Thank you, I really appreciate that
What a bargain.
Love soup. It's so lovely that this venue is offering this 3 course for £4.
Bless them. A super deal for those that are struggling or just need a warm up on a cold day .Beautiful ❤️
Super review our Gary.
Thank you for sharing sweet .
Have a lovely evening and safe travels both you and Son x😊
Ps the end hahaha 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hi sweetheart! I hope you're well & enjoying your weekend. 🩷
I'm having a very relaxed Sunday evening & thought it might be nice to scroll through the comments on this latest video. So many replies on this one already! 3K had already commented before I even typed mine! 😅 I wanted to keep a special eye out for you & Sharon. Based on her last message, I think Sharon may be in hospital now, so I'll watch for her to pop-up again soon & I hope she's on the mend quickly. 🙏
This one was a very special review & so many people have commented on the lovely nostalgia of it, along with the good this establishment offers to the local community & of course the incredible price. Couldn't be more deserving of such a positive shout-out by Gary.
I think it's the first time on the channel where we have heard Gary really get into a good chuckling giggle & it's quite infectious! 🤣 Another person said that Gary & son should do a blooper reel & I second that! If they ever have the time, I think regular viewers would love it.
I'd better leave the waffling there! ☺️ Take good care Maria & I hope you are feeling OK my beautiful friend. 💕💐💕
Much appreciated, thank you Maria. Sorry I've had so many comments!
@Erin.C.G Hello my beautiful Erin,
Thank you for your lovely kind comment.
I'm not brilliant at the moment and recently been sick.
But feel better for it.
I loved this video, absolutely beautiful. It definitely pulled on the heartstrings.
Everything you said I agree with . Just a beautiful review.
I agree a blooper video would be hilarious 😂 laughter is contagious for sure .
I did see Sharon make a small comment but if she's recovering I wanted to leave her in peace. I'll try and find her.
How's my darling been? How's work and life in general?
I promise I've not forgotten about you regarding your email. I will try and respond by the weekend if I'm better.
Please , please stay safe and well and happy because you of all people deserve true happiness for sure.
Catch up soon my beautiful darling friend . Lots of love xxxx❤️🌷💖
@@GaryEats Hello our Gary , no need to apologise. You work so hard it's a miracle you manage to get back to us.
It was a truly beautiful review.
I loved it.
Thank you and your Son for sharing.
I hope you manage to rest this evening.
All the best to you sweet x 😊
@@butterflydiva1 Hi Maria! It's lovely to hear from you. 💕
Sweetheart, I'm so sorry to read that you have been feeling sick. Are you able to get some proper rest at the moment or has it been difficult? I really, really hope that you are feeling much better soon. 🙏🩷
Yes, this vlog was a heck of alot more than a review for a budget friendly lunch. It was so endearing & nostalgic for Gary & for so many people in the comments too. What a service The Star Bar does for the area. I had a lovely chat with Terry yesterday & he was going back to watch this review a second time & I did the same.
I'll try to find Sharon in the comments shortly & just say a very quick hello.
Work is going along well. Personally I'm doing OK. There's probably a longer answer in that one! Lol! But OK sums it up for the moment. Thankyou so much for asking, you are an incredibly kind soul. 💐
That's OK sweetheart, don't worry for a single moment about emailing. The wonderful part about Gary's channel is that it also offers a lovely opportunity to catch-up here quickly too. I'm really thinking of you & you looking after yourself & feeling better is always the priority.
I hope you have a good week & take care. Catch-up soon my darling. 💙🌷
Could see this being great for pensioners during the cold months ..
Warm pub , hearty meal & some company during the day ..
One of my favourite reviews ..
💯
It is!
Never seen your channel before but might I say, what a joy to watch a man enjoy a hearty meal. Haste ye back, mate🙂👍🏻
Welcome aboard! Thank you!
