I love my Dagger brush. I do a lot of heavy texture painting/paint sculpting but I still paint with brushes some. It's a very versatile brush.

I bought a dagger brush today and I don’t know why the hairs just bend easily and stay in that position when it’s wet. If I use it dry with acrylic strokes are weak and hard to manipulate. What am I doing wrong?

That's the nature of many brushes. It's important to have enough paint on the brush. For acrylics, using an acrylic medium might help. In my opinion, certain brushes have certain strengths. A dagger (for me) is somewhat of a niche brush. Good for doing something like cirrus clouds.

Are the Claasico paints Artist or Student grade? Just curious because I don't know much about them. Thanks.

I haven't seen anything that specifies which they are, but it appears to me that they're artist grade since they don't include any fillers/waxes (the typical hallmark of student grade). They also use real cadmiums and cobalts. I've been impressed with the colors I've used so far.

    Very nice and informative video.
    Question please:
Would a Dagger brush be a good choice for painting Evergreen trees?
I am having trouble getting nice detail with background Evergreen type trees consistent with Colorado mountain type landscapes. Getting the individual branches with the leaf detail has been alluding me and I was researching using a dagger style brush.
Note: I am trying to paint the trees that are medium distance away at about say 100 to 250 feet away. Thanks and very nice video. Giving you a Sub.

I wish I could tell you, but I don't paint those kind of trees. Get one and give it a shot!

@@LayneJohnsonStudio Hi Layne. Thanks for your comment. I appreciate you following up. I've been trying out a very small Princeton fan brush (20/0 inch) and that so far has been helping me get closer to the Colorado evergreen type trees that you might see in the distance. I still need a lot of practice!
BTW: I may buy this dagger brush also...Are the bristles firm? THX.
