Those pictus cats are a riot - we have 5 in a 90G with 6 silver dollars and a couple of other fish. They peel around the bottom like go-carts and go crazy when I feed the tank. Lots of fun. Your fish look amazing! I love BIG fish. Nice, nice tank.
I think you should keep your frontosa, because Moba frontosa don't breed as well. I use to have Burundi frontosa, and they breed once every six months, so I gave the fry to the local pet store.
They look stunning. You have a similar size colony to me, although by the looks of it, my colony is younger, they are around 3 to 4 years old on average. I also have an Alpha male (Herman), a Beta male (Eddie) and a third (Butch) who i also need to move on for his own good. i have 4 females, one has held 3 times successfully, Another female has held once successfully, the other two have held for about a week then spat or swallowed, but they're young. There are 3 juveniles that were born in the aquarium. but i now have a fry tank set up with 25 fry.
How do you know that they are carrying eggs/fry? What do you do when you realize that they have fry? I have 7 large Frontosas - two large males and 5 females. Do you remove her or do something else? Never have had them breed. They are in a 125. Thanks. Also, I wouldn't get rid of the male - I'd keep him with a couple females in another tank. If your alpha males dies, you'll have another one.
I could tell that they were carrying is by how they hold their mouth. And then if you watch the mouth for a short bit they will tumble the fry in the mouth and you can see that. I removed the smaller male and put him in another tank with a few other smaller ones. Unfortunately I went on vacation and had a friend watch the fish, she accidently turned off the wrong switch which was the one to the electrical and they died! I was supper mad and I still haven't spoken to her yet to this day. I am going to get sharks now. I will post a new video soon.:)

I am planning to setup a new Frontosa tank. The seller guy will give me 10 babies from his tank in two weeks. Please suggest what precautions and care I should take. I am new for Frontosa but not new in fishkeeping.

Yerry frontosa Carrillo Yes most definitely! One thing to watch for is chasing in the beginning they can be aggressive to the newbies. Have a divider on hand in case u need it.

what kind of pellet food do you feed ur adult frontosa ??
thats got hell of a head I keep frontosa but they've got some catching up to do compared to yours
thats a frequent filter change I change mine as little as possible for bacteria reasons
Most of the bacteria is held in the canister filter so it's fine to change the water as often. They like water changes the more the better.

So nice of you. But I have changed my mind and gone with a pair of oscars for my 320 Ltrs tank. I thought I will not be able to take care of Frontosa.
Fronts are the same as oscar
I thought I will have to do more maintenance for Frontosa and it will require a bigger aquarium.
