I have this amplifier. There is a very audible difference in the natural output of the Vox VS the Marshall I found this to be impressive. The voicing is great. I also have a pedal for cabinet emulation. I use an overall volume clean pedal. This amplifier responds just as all of my vintage tube amps and new tube amplifiers. I am using this in a Multi-Amp set up also pushing it if needed through a Rockville PA powered speaker. I am Using a 2x12 Peavey 1290 Vintage speakers in a well built vintage cabinet. I add Quilter 101, and a Blackstar 40 watt head, Baby Bomb 30 and the Quilter 45 pedal sized amplifier. This has a surprisingly good reverberation. On stage this can be used with other amplifiers. I am happy so far with this dual amplifier floor amp.
How would you say this compares in tone, feel and output (especially with pedals) to the Quilter Micro Block 45. I have the MB45 and I love it, except I want a more versatile EQ section on the amp.
I just came back from a music store after trying it - speaker out to 4x12 slant Marshall cabinet. It sound awesome and loud! Possibly good for a gig with a full band. I would not hesitate to take this for a standby should the stage head fail for some reason in a gig. Great demo by the way.
Thanks for the vid! I'm looking forward to hearing both these Hotone floor amps through an actual cab. If they sound good and get loud enough for small/medium gigs, one of them might get a permanent spot on my pedalboard.
Kinda wish you had demonstrated cleaning up the gain sounds with the volume control and addressed whether the amp takes well to pushing the front end with a gain/overdrive/boost pedal. I'd also like to hear what happens when you jack the mid knobs. Perhaps in the update?
Thanks for the feedback. We might return to this at some point in the future to see if we can accommodate some of the requests we've received from viewers.
Just got mine in the mail sounds are pretty accurate to the real vox and Marshall simply love the thought and quality of this amp. But guys the reverb wtf was this unit designed by musicians and if so what music do they play? Anywho still love this little beast
Will this sound as good if I’m only sending the xlr signal to the house (monitor myself with wireless in-ear buds), or does it need the speaker-load to sound good?
Hey mate, i noticed you had cab sim hooked up for this pedal demo? Does it make a big difference compared to the last video of the mojo attack (no cab sim was used as far as i know?)
Hiya. Yes, there was a cab sim in the Mojo Attack vid as well. In fact towards the end of that vid I provided a A/B demo of with and without the Sim....yuck. The cab sim makes a huge difference if you're unable to use a cabinet. It's a must. You don't necessarily need to use the cab sim on the BritWind or MojoAttack though. You could use a Digitech Cab DryVR, NuX Solid Studio, or the Hotone Binary Cab.
So, this thing can drive an external speaker cab? It says so in the description, so I guess you just run a speaker cable to your cab. I was gonna get the Mooer Baby Bomb as I want to have an actual cab onstage with me when I DI, maybe run from my preamp unit>Rotary Sim (Tech 21 Rotochoir)>Baby Bom>cab for a "faux Leslie" thing. This unit looks interesting. I'm getting too old to carry around heavy amps. Even smallish combos are getting to be a bit much for me.
@@ThePedalGuy Ahh. I see. I thought it was a 75 watt SS amp, based on the specs. The Baby Bomb will drive a passive cab. Thank you for the clarification!
Nick B thanks for your question. I haven’t used it with modeler pedal but we did use it with an iso cabinet. Check our playlist for the link to the video. But I would imagine that this would sound great with the NuX solid studio or Hotone Binary cab pedals.
Sure, that would work fine. We have reviewed the NuX Solid Studio and the Hotone Binary Cab. Either of those would be a fine solution. You could also look into the Digitech CabDryVR as well. They all get the job done.
@@ThePedalGuy That's interesting, as you know we discussed the Solid Studio which I like. Not 100% on the Hotone Binary Amp. But there are a few options, I'll definitely consider this unit. I think my NUX Cerberus will have to go, it's just not my thing (multi-FX are always a compromise, but it does have great delays & reverbs). Thanks for demoing all these products!
if i use one of these and just pretty much have boss delay, chorus and dunlop phaser and ibenez tube screamer will the reverb cause any problems? I know with pedals delay or reverb is often at the end of the chain
utubecenseorstruth thank for your question. I don’t think you’ll have any issues. Think of the reverb as a built in reverb like you would find on an amp head. It functions the same way. Worse comes to worse, you could not use their reverb and just use a reverb pedal, but where’s the fun in that?
Hey PedalGuy, thanks for the videos. I was wondering if these amps take other pedals well in front of them (I'm thinking Wha and/or overdrive). Have you tried this? Thanks in advance!
vicente saiz thank you for the kind words. Absolutely it works quite well with other pedals put in front of it or by making use of the send&return i/o’s on the back of the amp.
Thanks for your question. Yes, you bet. It's not a power amp like the Loudster. This is meant to go straight to an amp of some kind, PA systems included.
@@ThePedalGuy Follow up question. So do I use this like an "amp" at the end of my rig? so my rig looks like this, Tuner - Preamp -OD's - Comp - Delay/reverb - Hotone Legacy Floor - PA?
Which of these inexpensive amps would be the best pedal platform with lots of headroom that would fit on a pedalboard and have the capability of DI (along with powering a speaker for monitoring)?
I have the Moore legacy and I'm really disappointed. The distortion channel sounds like crap and unlike many solidstate amps when you back off on the volume it cleans up . Not this one . The lower the volume the more crappy it sounds . Just using the clean for a pedal amp

How is the fx loop?
Hotone Good job! 👏👏👏
Does this sound pretty much identical to the 5W Purple Wind head or is there a tonal improvement going to the higher-wattage floor amp? Thanks!

Matt Gilbert if it’s a powered cab then yes this will drive it. If it’s passive you’ll still need a power amp like the Hotone Loudster.

@@ThePedalGuy wrong - this IS an Amp, in addition to a cab-sim DI output. It pumps 75 watts to a 4 ohm cabinet, 40w to an 8ohm and 20 to a 16ohm load.
JCM 800-ish on the dirty channel?
It's listed as a Marshall Plexi Super Lead 1959

Take into account the way that he EQ's the amp. He is boosting the highs and taking away some mids. That is the recipe for a thin tone.
