    I own this. The rectifier channel is very bassy. The reverb has a really long tail. The boost makes little difference. But for the price it's worth it just for the 70 watt amp. Its giggable. A master volume is really important to me. I put an EQ in the FX loop.
    I would love to see this with a 5150 as the second channel.

    I have a hot one purple wind and a black diamond I run wet dry in my living room. These amps surprise everyone. The "fender" goes to a carbon 4*10 the "plexi" goes dirty and dry into a HB 1*12... Epic little amp.

      I have not tried mine with anything solid state so I do not know how it reacts but I think it is worth bearing in mind. 😊
      Also I did see you had a grounding issue in some other videos, I also had a grounding issue recently and once I got sorted it out the OX sound was transformed.
      The Ox seems to be sensitive to that kind of thing.

    I was going to grab a Purplewind but the consensus was that they are not loud enough to gig with so I passed.

    Nice review, actually quite nice little pedal amp for those who want something small and loud.
    Does it have load balance build in that enages when no real speakers are connected?
    For it's own clean and drive, I think that 4 cable method with a multifx board or maybe an additional EQ pedal would be able to add what's missing in tone, although have to agree, it would be better if it had a better EQ section on it's own.

    • @JoeBaermann
      @JoeBaermann 6 років тому

    • @MaaZeus
      @MaaZeus 6 років тому +1

      Its solid state, it should not need a built-in load. That is entirely a tube thing with output transformers that go boom when no load is present (infinite ohms). SS does not have that problem, they only melt if the load is too low for what they are rated for or if the spealer cable shorts (0 ohms, so obviously less than what it is rated for).

    • @JoeBaermann
      @JoeBaermann 6 років тому

      Thanks, just asking since my Orange Cr120 user manual states "Always ensure the correct speaker load (Ω) is connected to the SPEAKER OUTPUT terminal(s) at all times during operation", so it seems that some solid state amps do require a load while they are turned on.

    • @MaaZeus
      @MaaZeus 6 років тому +1

      @@JoeBaermann There are some solid states that do have output transformers for reason or another but they are quite rare . If your amp has a switch to match the loads then it is better to respect that. I am 100% sure a small pedal amp like this does not have OT because they are big and heavy square thingies. You see them in every tube amp near the power tubes.

    • @JoeBaermann
      @JoeBaermann 6 років тому

      Thanks, figured that there was no OPT that can handle 75W in the pedal.
      Found a photo of how my amps looks inside, only a power transformer there, so will let the people from Orange explain if it's just a failproof to avoid that people connect their speakers after the amp has been turned on or if it is something completely different.

    Hallo Hans-Peter!
    Erstmal danke für die vielen tollen Videos.
    Trotzdem möchte ich dir hier bei dem Mojo Attack widersprechen. Der Sound geht besser, ja, der Sound geht immer besser. Oder eben auch nicht. Du hast völlig Recht damit,, dass der verzerrte Kanal viel zu dumpf ist, wenn man den EQ wie gewohnt bedient. Ich habe gerade eben nochmals den mojo attack an meine PA angeschlossen und direkt danach den Bluguitar AMP,und ich möchte sagen, der mojo klingt in beiden Kanälen besser, im Sinne von authentischer. Ich habe eine Fender Strat benutzt. Der Bluguitar ist clean über ne Box sehr gut. Die zerre ist leider doch eher künstlich und die Regekwege des EQ sind total kurz. Der Zerrkanal auf dem Mojo Attack ist auch nicht saugeil,da Stimme ich mit dir über ein, aber clean klingt er über pa besser als der Blug. Hast du das mal getestet, über mixer u pa boxen? Es macht einen großen Unterschied. Der EQ Regelweg beim mojo ist sehr groß, und es hilft, wenn du einfach die Bässe auf 1,2 oder 3 drehst, dann ist der Sound klar genug. Alles in allem, wo steht der Mojo? Als Pedal Amp vor der PA ist er super nützlich und spart unheimlich Schlepperei. Der Klang ist natürlich nicht saugeil, wie es Gitarristen mit Marshall Stack empfinden , aber er ist auch nicht scheiße, sondern gut. Der Otto Normal Zuhörer im Publikum, wird keinen Unterschied zu deinem 5000€ Rack wahrnehmen, und das ist der Punkt. Es beleidigt nicht die Ohren, wenn du ein normaler Hörer bist und die Sounds vermengen sich im Bandgefüge ja eh so, dass du am Ende eben nicht hören kannst, was da für Instrumente beteiligt sind. Das Auge isst mit sagt man. Und so spielt auch der Preis und der Name in unser Urteil mit rein. Gibson klingt aufgelöster und präsenter als alle anderen Gitarren. Das ist so,da sag ich nichts gegen. Aber ein Freund von mir, der nur Hi End Instrumente spielt, konnte im Blindtest eine Harley Benton 79€ Strat Kopie nicht von der echten Fender Strat unterscheiden. Er konnte nix sehen, nur hören. Und meine Gitarrenschüler können nicht mal zwischen einer 300€ Höfner Klassik Gitarre und einer 3000€ Hand gebauten Gitarre den Unterschied hören.
    Fazit: was immer du für teures Zeug kaufst, es ist nur für deinen eigenen Ohren,nicht für die Audienz.
    Wenn du einen praktischen, leichten, kleinen Pedal Amp suchst, der gut klingt, und mit dem du deine Arbeit verrichten kannst, dann probiere den Mojo Attack aus. Für 199€ geht das voll in Ordnung.
    Wem es nicht gefällt, der kann es ja zurück senden. Ich bin zufrieden.

    Hey guys, I need help!
    I have an old 70's Roland Cube amp (one of those Orange colored ones) and it feels more like a speaker honestly. I'm not sure how it behaves, but honestly it feels like a speaker not an amp. No gain knob just two inputs. I'm looking for something i can use like an amp modelling unit or whatever. I was looking at the Boss GT 1 and Zoom G3XN, I'm lost. I need something that will sound good through this amp (using the unit I will purchase as an amp modeller) and I can use live via plugging it directly through a PA system.
    What do you suggest? Boss? Zoom? Or this one? Also, does the hot tone need a speaker cabinet? Or can it be used with the amp I have? Thank you in advance.

    • @martinkrauser4029
      @martinkrauser4029 6 років тому

      I'd take the Zoom for effects because you have a lot more freedom setting up the signal chain, but the Mooer G200 is a LOT better at amp and cab modeling. I don't know that much about the Boss GT-1, but it seems to me it loses out on features to the Zoom and on tone to the Mooer.
      This Hotone is an actual amp, not a modeler.
      That said, your vintage cube amp is unlikely to have a full range flat response the way a PA speaker does and probably colors the tone in a way that wouldn't necessarily work well with amp modelers. I'd take it to a store and try the pedals out before buying. Unless the amp is specifically meant for acoustic guitar. Then go for it. :)

    • @joebobhenrybob2000
      @joebobhenrybob2000 6 років тому

      Abdela Hafez that Hotone is a 75w amp. You don't need an amp to drive that cube, so I'd stick with preamps.
      From there you'd decide do you want something sort of trying to be a solid state or tube amp OR do you want a box that gives you some amp sims and effects?
      I'd tend to say pull up multi effects pedals on musiciansfriend, zzounds, etc, sort by price. Hunt down ones that look interesting on youtube and listen.
      If you're trying to keep it cheap, if you can find an old Yamaha DG stomp for like $50, that might work.
