James Pearce hasn’t played a lot simply because we’ve been up so much. We rotate around 10-12 deep on the d line and he hasn’t had to play at all in the second half of games
The OU podcasts I've watched have Troy Everett back to start at LG for this game also, so Hickman and Everett may both be back to help bolster that OU OL.
This is also what I’ve heard they will be able to put Sexton back to LT with those two guys back at RG and C. Also Anderson and Anthony back for the WR core. The offense should be as close to whole as it has been all season. I see this being a great game Saturday night.
James has been sitting out after UT gets a lead. At like 35 points he doesn't go back it. That serves two purposes. It rests the starters and prevents the injuries and bumps and bruises of the season and also gives your other guys some reps so you know exactly what you got in those guys as well. In crunch time and big games he will play more.
I get what you are saying and that makes sense. But he's not really playing hardly at all. Other starters are playing a lot more. We will see this weekend, bc this ain't nc state. I was going to say the same. Campbell was the starting LT all season last year. The only reason Heard picked UT was because Campbell agreed to move over to RT. Vols OL vs OU front 5 is going to be a good matchup in this one. Heard is questionable in this one.
I was just old enough to remember the dark yrs before stoops and heupel came and revived ou football can’t say anything but praises for heupel and what he’s done not only for ou over the yrs but also how he’s made everywhere he’s been better
The OU DL hasnt stopped the Run against lesser teams the last 3 weeks, yes the numbers look nice, but do those teams have OL and RB like TN? I think we will win our fair share of rushes in this game. I bet we average 3-5 yrd a carry early and stretch it to 5-6 yrd by 4th qrter. TN DL is 12 deep so they are constantly Rotating the DL, and on top of that we've been blowing teams out by the end of the 1st half so they shut the starters down by halftime. As far as QB run by JA, our LBs arent sloths, so for now I think we will contain JA, but he certainly will make you nervous til it happens an we stop it well.
They have been good against the run, not sure what stats you are looking at. You could ask the same about tennessees offense..... who have they played? This is the biggest test of the year for both teams. We both feel good about a Tennessee win here but this ain't Popcorn state. If tennessee wins, it will be an impressive victory on the road. Best of luck this weekend, thanks for watching
By the end of the game, I'm thinking you are probably correct. As long as Tennessee is getting positive yards on 1st and 2nd down, they will be hard to stop. Thanks for watching! Good luck this weekend.
It's a combination of things with Pearce. He's sat the entire 2nd half in two of the 3 games because it's been a blowout and even vs NC State he didn't play in the 4th quarter. He's playing less than 20 snaps a game. He only played 10 snaps vs UTC, so he just hasn't seen a lot of playing time because UT hasn't needed him. Both UTC and Kent State audibled to run away from him whenever he was in the game. NC State doubled him all game, and all 3 teams went with 2 or 3 step drops and quick passes with him in the game. I think UTC did a five step drop once and it was a sack by Tyre West. So teams definitely have a game plan for when he's in the game and he's changing their offense just by being on the field.
The problem for OU is that all of their stats have came against an offense that's nothing like Tennessee. The gameplan against us is to stop the run with 5 preferably, and 6 at most. If you play zero coverage then Nico will run straight ahead for a touchdown. If you play one deep then you get burnt down the sideline for touchdowns. The best defense against UT is two deep safeties and a three man line. So far, only UGA has had the personnel. We'll see if Oklahoma does. If they don't it's a blowout. GoVols.
This makes a lot of sense here. That is the big question when playing Tennessee.... can you play base defense and win your battle one on one. But to be fair, Tennessee hasn't played anyone as good as oklahoma yet either. I obviously like Tennessee to win but I'm thinking it will be a good game, atleast for a half or 3 quarters

Georgia is the only team to slow Tennessee down. SC in 2022 we still put up 38. The OU d-line will hold up good for a while but if we get tempo going then the dam will break at some point. John Campbell was a starter at LT last year but was injured. Pearce doesn’t have stats bc he hasn’t played many snaps this year and when he does they are sliding his way or doubling him which opens the rest of the line, we are rotating 12-13 guys on the d-line, no need to get him hurt vs a Kent State or Chatt. It was obvious that those teams made an emphasis on getting the ball out quick as well so the sack numbers are lower than what we would expect thus far.

If yall rush for 250, you got it any way you want it. Just about every loss over the last few years has been from not being able to run the ball, or not being able to stop the run. Every single one. This games no different! Run the ball successfully, win this game by atleast 10. Thanks for watching and best of luck to your vols this weekend.
@@1st_LONG_CFB 100% if we can't run we can't win
OU will have receivers and their Center back for this game, so there's no telling what the offense will look like.
Man, that’ll be a HUGE help!
I don't see the shoddy O line being able to stand up to the defensive front from TN. I do believe passing over the top is The way to beat TN. I just don't see this O line being able to stand up to 12 fresh elite D linemen. Honestly I'm not sure that there is an O line who could, but time will tell of course!
@@ImaITman this will be the best OL Tennessee has faced so far, still
@@ImAlwaysRightCFB That's straight facts!
But who are we kidding: Arnold was sacked 9 times by the patsies OU played in the first 3 games.
There’s no way TN doesn’t get to him. A lot.
Who’s the backup?
Fans didn't run Josh off, we love Josh......and we loved Brent, and we love Bob Stoops ...but this is all Bobs doing, not fans, Mike Stoops should have been fired. at that time fans were crying out about bobs nepotism...That said, it speaks to Bob's character, He would not turn his back on his brother, and showed he was his brothers keeper...
Yup. Coach Heup plays the long game. He's been pretty vanilla, imo, on BOTH sides of the ball. Coach always has em ready for the big ones. Remember Bama on the road last yr? Even Joe had em on the ropes for a half. We all know what happened but, I believe that was coaching. Same thing here
They definitely have not had to reach into their bag so far with how they’ve been handling their schedule so far
Tennessee lost to Missouri by 20 points last year
JA has been sacked already 9 times against the patsies OU has played this year.
I’m thinking TN is going to get to him. A lot.
Who’s OU’s backup? I’m thinking he’d better be ready. Better be throwing balls on the sidelines.
I'm hearing they haven't needed him really. They played 13 or 14 DL against NCstate, he played I think 10 snaps against chat.
I guess we won’t know until the Tennessee DL has a game where they struggle then
@@ImAlwaysRightCFB 100% We will learn alot about our team this weekend.
@@ImAlwaysRightCFBThat will probably be Alabama or Georgia. OU’s offensive line is going to be WAY overmatched.
@@nate665 I’m sure you’re right. Tennessee’s schedule is incredibly easy this season. If they don’t get at least 10 wins, you have to start to question Heupel. Honestly it should be an 11-12 win season with this team
@@ImAlwaysRightCFB They Play Alabama and Georgia, 2 of the top 4 teams in the country.
Saving him , keeping pearce safe
@@shanelee7742 are we sure about that? I understand sitting him out the second half of a blowout but the guy is hardly playing at all…
@@ImAlwaysRightCFBwhy does he need to? We go up by 30 in the first quarter and he doesn’t play anymore. Why risk him getting injured? Expect him to play this week and be disruptive. He’s hungry
@@oBRDY because he’s a football player who (I assume) enjoys playing football. Plus, he has potential to become the #1 pick but not if he hardly plays bc he’s afraid of getting hurt. He won’t be managed that way in the NFL
@@ImAlwaysRightCFB It’s pretty simple honestly, it’s a 17 game season now and he will have plenty of snaps down the road. No reason to waste his snaps against terrible teams when you have your sights set on a National Championship. I don’t understand why everyone seems to struggle with that notion so much.
@@ImAlwaysRightCFB Also they don’t have 49 point spreads in the NFL so comparing apples to oranges isn’t really the way to go there.
Missouri beat Tennessee by 20 points last year
A really good missouri team** and a different Tennessee offense. That wasn't your grandpa's mizzou team, they were tough as hell.
Mandatory SEC injury reports should come out today and give us all a better idea of who will play.
Ethan davis is our best yight end
@@shanelee7742 where’s he been?
@@ImAlwaysRightCFBhaven’t watched any TN games? 12+ receivers with catches this year, Pearce was in street clothes by the 2nd quarter in 2 games, and 20 snaps with multiple quick throws and doubles in the other. He still affected the plays when he was in. I feel like maybe it’s just stat watching for this vid.
You people are unreal. Who cares? You have played 2 high school teams and a crippled NC ST. We have watched all the Tennessee football you can watch that has anything to do with this game or this season. The team looks great. It ain't perfect. James pearces stats are almost non-existent this season, so it's fair to ask what's up. He has a tackle, half a TFL, and a handful of qb hurries. If it's just saving him, then we will see him a lot this weekend. I'm ready to see him play and I'm sure he is tired of sitting on the sideline.

I don't name them, just mispronounce them on youtube. Lol best of luck this weekend. Can't wait.
lol you guys think UT will “struggle to run the ball”
OU is actually good against the run though...
@@zophix-5741hahaha a lot of other teams were good in the run later in the season and still got gashed.
@@neetincleats if OU wants to win the game then they better stop the run
@@ImAlwaysRightCFB Said every coach since the dawn of time. Groundbreaking.
Yeah bc that's football. Smart-ass.
It was kinda hard to look at that red shirt with a G on it that whole time, but wow. Fantastic breakdown, best I’ve ever seen for sure. Thanks!
GBO!
Haha! Bad wardrobe choice. We do love our dawgs, but this isn't a Georgia show. We love cfb and like talking matchups. We just call it like we see it! Best of luck this weekend and thanks for watching.
Oklahoma's been on the verge of putting it all together so far and frustratingly haa stubbed their toes repeatedly. This is the game they've pointed to and I expect a strong performance. Dialing back the QB reads should give Arnold a quick passing look then tuck and run avoiding sacks and negative plays. I like the Sooners from start to finish by 7-10 points
I think oklahoma will play their best game of the year so far. I don't know if it will be enough, but I'm here for it no matter which way it goes! Best of luck this weekend.
You have clearly not watched Tennessee film
