Appears like a decent product. Since it's water activated, might be tempted to pressure wash area to clean and open up cracks, then pour layer, tamp, add more, tamp, water, to keep moist as layers added and tamped. Just a thought. Cheers
What you did here is probably about most the diy'rs would have done. You showing us this is a great teaching aid at your expense and I (as we all should) thank you for it. I myself would not have given it the 1-2 day 'tire test', at least between 14 - 28 days. What I need to do is raise a hollow spot, then try to raise the width (9') to the street about 5'. Street crew placed more asphalt on the street making my driveway about 1 - 1 1/2 inches lower for the first five feet. So after a rain or melted snow, we gather a small puddle at the end of the drive. Annoying as the devil. Thanks buddy for sharing this with us.
I imagine a longer-lasting fix would be to dig up the alligator cracking and fill the hole with cement, using the old asphalt broken up as the aggregate.
Can you first flame it to make it super hard, add cement dust to fill in the nooks and crannies and then slather a smooth layer of Rustoleum rubberized epoxy shield to make it very very smooth..dry, .and then add two coats of driveway sealer to make it even more smooth....
Thanks for doing this. I think this would work better if you watered it before tamping. But then again I have not seen the whole video. Being water activated... if it’s already tamped, less water will reach it.
yep, his duck were not in a row when he tamped first. Prob just need more dry time because he starved the lowere portion of the ingredient it needs to react with.
So a year later and may I ask "How did it hold together" especially if you have had a cold icy winter in between? I'll be very thankful if you answer me. Thanks,
Been doing asphalt 25 yrs and I don't see how this material can bond to the existing asphalt without any bonding agent. But using this material is only temporary. To make it correctly you would have to saw out a patch and have a good stone base. Fill in the patch with real material and compact and tack
William, thanks for bringing your 25 years of experience to the conversation. Aquaphalt is not your traditional cold patch. It actually has binder already in it. When you pour the water on top it activates the binder and causes the Aquaphalt to set up and get hard. Its German engineering at its finest, but we manufacture it in Virginia. Aquaphalt has a 3-year warranty after its installed. Check out our website for aa Virginia DOT case study with a 4-year follow up picture. www.aquaphalt.com
Bad review, that was not compacted enough and left to cure long enough. This is a fantastic product, better than any patching material on the market. Will get as hard as hot mix asphalt when cured.
No applied in the proper way it’s not a coating it’s for patching potholes. It’s great stuff. He is wrong terrible test don’t pay attention to this result. This a typical homeowner that isn’t knowledgeable about pavement repair. When applied properly this stuff performs phenomenally. www.brewpro.net
It seems all the videos of folks using this always seem to tamp it down before watering. The directions are clear, wet it, then tamp. It makes sense that you want to activate the binder and get as much wet and activated as possible, then smash it together creating a stronger bond.
There is a "4.0" version, compared to "6.0", and the 4 is FINER ... wonder if that would be better for this application because the cracks are fine. I'd be pretty disappointed with that ...
There's no way of knowing for sure obviously. But I bet it be safe to say that your tires well under pressure. The fact that you got a big bubble on the side. Tells me you're not riding on the ball of your tire. Next time you go to stamp something try putting a little of that I'm finished cuz I think you'll act on those Stamper strikes. Overall good video though
You have a keen eye, Dr Solo! I actually had the tires replaced shortly after that which is why I was fine using them to grind on the aquaphalt. Despite the slight grinding, the aquaphalt has still held up nicely, and I just posted a follow up video!
That's true, Matthew. I was trying to use it in a way that it isn't advertised for to see if it would work. I'll probably do an update this summer on it, but after the winter, plowing, freezing, snow, etc... it still looks perfect!
Hey thanks for the reply, I do appreciate the video and plan to use this stuff this summer for my driveway can’t wait to see your updated did of how yours looks now
You're not even supposed to drive on a freshly paved driveway for a week so expecting that stuff to hold up to turning the tire on it a day later isn't even a fair test.
Good question. If you've ever used tradition cold patch you already know the answer to this....traditional cold patch is petroleum based and temporary. It never sets up and will come out of the hole after enough rain and/or traffic. Aquaphalt sets up with water and bone to the surrounding pavement. It has a 3-YEAR WARRANTY after its installed.
@@aquaphalt7659 When we used a cold patch from HDepot, it took forever to set up (over 6 months), but eventually worked quite well, even in some depressions without vertical sides.
Wet the surface before Appling. Take my word on this, it works better

Well for doing this in a heavy traffic area like a driveway or parking lot. You cant expect people to not drive on it for up to a month
Asphalt contractor 35 years experience Don’t put no seal on it for about at least 30 days if you seal it sooner you will make the asphalt Soft
Great tip! Thanks for the insight, Michael! She’s out baking in the sun!
Its not asphalt tho
Asphalt contractor You need to tire roll The patch over it back-and-forth until it’s compacted
All that to show off the Porsche. Nice! Great simple clear video, thanks for posting!
Ha, #humblebrag ?
The manufacturer says to water before tamping. That may have helped with a deeper cure. Looks good though.

Trowl on Patch in white green Bucket works for small Depression.
Awesome thanks much especially for update...now I will try it ..!😅👍

Hello Sir is this AQUAPHALT product already available in the Philippines Market?
6.0 works better and is stronger. Yes, the rocks are larger too. 6.0 or Perma Patch brand are my go two patches that work.
So a year later and may I ask "How did it hold together" especially if you have had a cold icy winter in between?
I'll be very thankful if you answer me. Thanks,
Here ya go, Sam! ua-cam.com/video/D77oPUSY0oQ/v-deo.html

Got a product recommendation? Just had my driveway done last fall and now a gas spill has screwed with my driveway, arghhhh!
you're supposed to water before tampering it down
I would use same product to seal it.
What is the difference between aquaphalt 6.0 and 4.0? Is this good for smaller cracks? How small or large do they have to be?
4.0 is smaller and can get down in smaller areas.
6.0 is designed for all repairs 1" and deeper. Aquaphalt 4.0 is designed for repairs less than 1"

Supposed to put the water on first them tamper it

You added the water after you tampered
Would love to know how long it lasted?!
I'm still driving over the patch every day!
@@petervonpanda Would love to see an update!
What product did you use to transition the edges?
Good question. I used this trowel grade filler for blending the edges. geni.us/SexAvc
should have tamped it down and it wouldn't have done that when you drove over it. Used it and it dries rock hard when properly compacted.

I garuntee if you drive on it ,it will come up
Really not bad at all for water activated.
Yeah, I was hoping for a little better, but it's help up nicely especially for how easy it is to use.
Its good
Wrong order. Apply water first and then tamp according to instructions. The tamping stopped the water from seeping in sufficiently and cure it.
How much for a bucket?
It was about $59/bucket from my local retailer.
Put a 3 pound cleansing rod on the back of a moose duster and find Mongolian shadow combustion
Love how you didn’t follow instructions at all. Lol. You should pay someone to fix it for you and take your porshe for a drive.

What are those 👟 !

Seriously?.?.?.?
Your heaviest vehicle was a Porsche...
On top of that, the asphalt patch failed from the weight of a Porsche..🤣.🤯🤔🤯🤣
i dont think you were very prepared for this...
Flame it till it gets hard!
real asphalt would cost you 63-80$ for 1 ton of blacktop that's a lot more then 50-60$ a bucket of aqua looks like shit phalt .
Fail
I think if you use a sealer you would be fine.
You need a compactor not a hand stamp
