Starting at Llyn Padarn, and heading to Bath, via the A470 and A479 solo camping in Dolgellau and checking out Avon Mawddach, River Wye north of Rhyader and Keepers Pond. See you in the water soon.
You’re my go to channel Rach. I am currently going through a lot of health issues and to be able to see your adventures and enjoying yourself gives me hope I can get back in the water soon
I hope you are starting to see some health improvements and are managing to hang out near, if not on water x
Rachel you always bring a smile to my face watching your videos. The places you had a swim looked so beautiful. I Iove that you take us on the journey with you. Looking foreword to the next adventure ❤😊xx
Hi Sarah, thanks for watching. I'm on the hunt for my next adventure and I'll be sure to bring you along for the ride 🏊😀
I absolutely agree with Mary Charlebois's comment and I'm awed by you camping at this time of year as well as the speed in which you put up your tent. You really are the queen of micro adventures. Also the visual story telling of this swimming road trip is truly excellent. I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to future adventures.
I'm hoping to do some more micro adventures once my weekends of work finish. It's so much fun. I'll certainly take you all along on the next one. 🏊😀
@@EverydayAthleteRach Looking forward to that.😀
Wow Rach your a cool dude and a free spirit , you give us all the encouragement to start to try things and test ourselves
Enjoying all this media
Hi Nigel, welcome to the clan. I hope you’re managing to enjoy the water 🏊♀️😀
Lovely scenery , but it does look v.cold! The feeling you get afterwards makes it worthwhile 🥶👍👏
They were mostly just shot dips in beautiful surroundings. Well worth getting wet, and mostly completely shaded from any wind. 🏊😀
What a beautiful place Rachel! A pleasure for me to see an area like that.
I hope you are managing the odd dip on your mega walk. There are so many beautiful spots in Scotland. I'm following you with envy and admiration x
Thank you so much for the mini tour of North Wales and the beautiful countryside of your trip to Bath! It must have been fun finding those swim spots. I hope you manage a return trip to the pond though - that looked fantastic!
Keepers Pond looked beautiful, I'd be more enthusiastic for getting in if there was less wind though! I'll be back to check. 🏊😀
Thank you Rachel for lovely video. I love Wales.🥰 I have to try to swim in the Keepers Pond 🥰 I walked there once a few years ago, but I wasn't into wild swimming then. Lovely to see your happy smile 😍🥰🥰
Keepers Pond is well known for being cold - it's where ice swimmers do their training, so pick your moment for a swim there - I'll be looking for a windless day! 🏊😀
A real treat on International Woman’s day to watch you on your road trip. Thanks for all you do to boost women’s confidence x
Aw thank you, what a lovely thing to say x
This is an amazing video! Thank you so much for sharing such a wonderful adventure x Keep going!
Thank you! Will do! 🏊😀
Fantastic road trip. I’m really enjoying your videos and helpful hints about cold water dips. Just started my adventure and am on Day 29 of #100daycoldwaterswimmingandwalking. I love it!
Thanks for joining me Katherine. How is the challenge going?
Oooh. It was lovely to see you at one of my favorite places for a dip. Such a shame you didn't have time. It is usually rather windy to say the least and the waves can really slap you in the face. 🤣Love it. X
Was that Keeper's Pond? I'll def o be back, it looks like an enormous infinity pool!
@@EverydayAthleteRach Hi Rachel. Just seen your msg. Yes it was keepers pond. Love it. So enjoy watching your posts. 💖
Hi Rach, great video! You've inspired me to re-think my holidays and weekends! I'm glad you found the beauty of Llyn Padarn which is lovely all year round. Just another idea to experience- Come up to Leasowe Bay, chat and swim with the Wirral Chilly Dippers and Buetits on the summer solstice - the atmosphere is amazing! You see circles of people around campfires- singing - meditation - yoga - everyone welcoming and friendly you can join in with just about anyone and it can last with some parties until long after the sun has set. Perhaps stay in Liverpool and have a dip with some in one of the docks the next day.. . You'll have the best time! I need to get myself over there soon, I've talked myself into it now 🤣..
Hey Jane that sounds like a really fun way to spend the solstice. I may take you up on that, would be a fun adventure! 🏊😀
Lovely! Gutted you didn't get to dip in KP, it's like swimming in cold tea! You'll have to plan another trip
Next time! I wouldn’t have been keen with the wind direction even if I had had time. But I will go back for another attempt next time I’m in the area 🏊♀️😀
WoW, Rachel… in addition to your 100% flash rate, I’d say that your trip, based on what you’ve shown us here in this video, was 100% stunning!! The quaint little towns & villages, the amazing swim spots, the bridges, the architecture, and the trees and forests were all spectacular. I was surprised to see how close some of the buildings were to the road. I was envious of your stellar and somewhat secluded swim spots. Above all, the opening shot in this video was tranquil and breathtaking. Over the years, I think I have watched all of your videos and I must say that this one has created quite an impression on me. Thanks so much for taking the time and the energy to bring us along with you on this trip. It was great!! Ⓜary💕🏊♀ PS - I also loved the long boats (narrow boats?) at the end of the video.
It was an absolute cracker Mary. I imagine in the summer some of those places would have been swamped, but I got them mostly to myself - what a treat. I'd definetly go camping at that time of year again, I was snug as a bug in a rug! The opening shot was taken from a viewpoint I'd never heard of, but seemingly during lockdown the roads all around we jammed with people heading there. It's called The Lone Tree. I'm hoping to do a few more little weekend swimmy trips, possibly with Cookie, though not sure how the camping will go with her! Watch this space 🏊😀🐕⛺💦❤
I've been to North Wales so many times but not since becoming an open water swimmer. I would so love to swim in Lyn Padarn. Your other swim spots looked great too 😃
It's a veritable outdoor swimming playground, certainly worth a visit, and of course it wouldn't matter if it rains! 🏊😀
Oh yes, bonus points 🤩
Great adventure Rachel. If ever you are Aberystwyth way give me a shout.
I will, thanks 🏊♀️😀
Hi Rachel new to your channel and loving it.. i live in Guernsey and swum in the sea all my life but this year going year round for the first time. Have you ever swum in the Channel Islands we have some beautiful bays.
I haven't yet swum in the channel islands, but I'd love to visit them. I think I have a family connection to Guernsey. 🏊😀
What an adventure Rachel. I think very brave. You should tour UK exploring wild swim spots. I'm off to the Peak District end of March with a swim mate and will share any spots we find.
Lovely stuff. I bet there's plenty of watery fun to be had there. Hope you fnd a waterfall or two. Would love to hear of any beauties you find (feel free to PM me on Instagram or Facebook if you'd like to share one 🏊😀
@@EverydayAthleteRach once our adventure completed I will happily share Rachel!
That's glorious! It's always very uplifting to watch your adventures.
When I see rivers I am always slightly put off by not knowing about either quality of water and also duck lice (or something else I can't remember the name of) , I believe it gives you some itchiness in following days. How do you deal with that? or have you ever encountered? Thanks
It was a fabulous way to spend a travel day! Touch wood, I've never experienced duck mites, and I always consider when it last rained before I hop into a river. These rivers were pretty remote, so I was less concerned about sewage overflows or animal waste or farm chemicals.
Lovely scenery, thanks for taking us with you 👍 Am intrigued by the planning aspect - I think you said people had suggested spots on your route. But at Avon Mawddach you could not find the swim spot, or the get in point, and so improvised and found alternatives? Wondering best way we can share swim spots with others? - What3Words? Or OS map grid refs? Any advice Rach?
I had some suggestions and some which I used to explore further, I realised that if a couple of people suggested similar locations then the area would be good for it. I also had a book which gave some details. I like the thrill of finding a spot, sometime the info you receive is not up-to-date but there were tracks leading down so I went for a look see. There is an app called Wild where people share swim spots, and quite a few books about places. Again I tend to use them as a guide to a particular area rather than a precise spot. Happy exploring! 🏊😀
Went in search of the same waterfalls on afin Mawdach a few years ago but ended up having a dip under that same bridge instead too!
It’s quite a lovely spot. Such a beautiful walk too
Hi Rachel if you fancy a road trip to Norfolk I swim with a great group of girls and we have some stunning locations to swim 😂 we would love to see you
I might well be up for that in the summer, I'll be out and about camping with Cookie, my cocker spaniel who is absolutly mad for the beach!
Great just let us know we would love to see you 😀
Brilliant, Rachel. How do you dry your kit with several swims?
Good question! I didn't - I took loads of kit with me so as not to transfer anything between waterways.
That was a nice trip! Brave going in without your swim shoes, while you were in Bath did you get over to Bradford On Avon for a dip there?
Not that time, didn’t have time around work. Have swim in a few spots south of Bath though.
