One of my favorite things about Enshrouded is the fact that we can clip items through walls and other objects. So many other games make the build items have massive collision boxes.
Yeah it's an unintuitive design choice as a game programmer/designer, but I hope the industry realizes this is what you need to let users create good buildings
It's definitely one of the top ones. Voxel based building has it's pros and cons, but Enshrouded has some innovative systems that are very promising. It's certainly early access and there some refining to do, but the potential here is immense!
This made me want to play enshrouded, build 3d models in blender, binge watch LOTR&The Hobbit, and study architecture. Someone give this man a goddamn award!
This is by far the best hobbit hole I've seen so far! Love the design, the detail, the furniture! All of it fits the theme so well! I had the feeling Gandalf is jumping by with his smoky pipe to give me a ring and throws me out to Mordor.
Such a great building system. I love it. I watch these to inspire me because I suck at building. Then I go into my game, place a pillar and go “welp, there went all my creativity. Now, let’s go die a bunch”
I have wanted to make a hobbit home in every survival crafting game, and every game has let me down in some way. Seeing the ease in which you built this really excites me. I'm still early in, but when I get some more building blocks unlocked, I'm absolutely building a hobbit home like this.
its actually the easiest way to build a home in this game. like being able to place down large blocks in the ground then instantly delete them allows you to dig out huge spaces really quickly.
the building is so intuitive in this game, im not as detail oriented as you, but i was able to do things that many other games dont allow, for example the fact that you can place a wall inside another wall to make more unique builds
When I playthrough this game, I'll definitely use this build as inspiration. I love making a cozy little hobbit hole. Excellent video as always Smitty :)
I think its so important to have an idea in your head of what your end goal is, as it helps direct the build into a more natural looking final build. The way you tried to express the circle elements on the outside really helped sell the final vision, and I love how you pulled the earth back over the top, really helping it look built into the earth. Such a great video! I really gotta get this game, I love building and decorating houses in games!
Ahhh a fellow builder I see. Having a good process is always important. Starts with a vision, even if just a general concept! So glad that you enjoyed the video though! Building in games is the best!
@@smittysurvival fellow builder indeed! The first and one of the only videos I ever uploaded was a fallout 4 settlement build haha. Right now I’m toying around in no man’s sky, but I am definitely going to be getting enshrouded as soon as I get my pc working again (stuck on a Mac right now and enshrouded doesn’t play on Mac, sad day).
You are a true artist. A GOAT! I love this and cannot wait to create my own Shire in this game. I’m loving the game so far! I am also adjusting to the new building system, but so far am really happy with it. Thanks for sharing! ☺️
At 4:15 you reminded me of the line in the hobbit. "In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, bare, sandy hole with nothing to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that meant comfort."
Very good my man, you dont do much talking and more narrating voice with showing the build and that's perfect, you're doing very well with this strategy
really nice little place to live, l especially love the way you made the window, very clever use of the square frame, it gives it a sort of oriental theme but still works well
The cave digging ability is magnificent in this game. I have a cave with a demonic face carved into once side and its eyes are holes in the ceiling through which sunlight filters in, it’s truly epic
Oooh, look who's conquering this new building game! I haven't done much building myself so far, only some walls and a roof to keep up appearances, because I'm still quite busy exploring the game and find all the materials. But I'm absolutely not surprised that Smitty would come up with something special and I can't wait what you're gonna come up with next!
That's what I forgot to buy at the shop yesterday! Chocolate! Yes @smittysurvival thank you for that message at the beginning there. It is actually a really lovely reminder. Subscribed!
This video makes the game seem a lot more desirable than the playthroughs I have watched! I'm not fluent in what type of building stuff is available aside from what you have shown, but you immediately made me think about making a Dwarven Mine. Great stuff!
It is quite solid for a co-op survival crafting game. And while it is meant to be played with friends, you can perfectly fine play it solo and it's not boring in the least. If you unlock everything in early access right now, you can build a ton of stuff already in a surprisingly big and varied game world with comparative ease. From a humble hut over large manors or even straight up castles, although it still lacks many decorative elements. A lot more easier if you use a trainer to spare yourself the tedious resource gathering for bigger builds. And you can build quite big, entire villages or massive castles with a flame altar upgraded to maximum diameter.
man it would be so awesome if they added functioning chimneys for those fireplaces, the smoke coming out of the hobbit hole is always the #1 thing that caught my attention from when i first saw one as a kid
I really like how you can use the terrain like this! It's far more advanced than Valheim from what I see in your video 😄 For now Enshrouded is on my wishlist, but hopefully I get to play it in the future 😃 Thank you for showing us how you built your hobbit hole! It truly has that vibe!
wow beautifully built. More of this please, I find it difficult to implement such things myself, especially when it comes to interior design, so I'd be happy to have more to recreate.
Had this video pop up into my feed and I have to say I am really glad it did, I am speechless. You have definitely earned a subscriber. Like you said, it's not a huge project, but it does a really good job of showing off the level of detail you are capable of achieving in this game. Still working on getting to that level myself, I've always been more of an efficiency over ascetics kind of guy when it comes to building in survival games but I have always wanted to build something that looks incredible like this. Unfortunately, habits are hard break, but this video definitely gives me some inspiration, so please keep up the great work.
What a wonderful build! I’m so thankful you included the interior design portion, as a fellow builder I got a lot of great tips for my current build. Thank you!
Haha props to you, I got a snack and a drink and searched for a video to look while munching, and then you mention to grab an snack and drink, made me smile :D :)
Unrelated to the title but the fact Keen Games went from Portal Knights to Enshrouded is fuckin INSANE!! Finally i will have a reason to play my PC that i built 3 months ago and played once😂
also great for renovating dilapidated homes. the building system allows you to fully repair any broken down building on the map so you can plop down a way point and get to work. theres a great spot near the first tower, its a big church with a farm next to it so lots of free soil. you can fully repair it and have a pretty sweet base thats actually part of the world. kinda limited by how many waypoint things you have but its a fun gameplay loop, getting all the right blocks, using the scaffolding to get the placement right, adding in features like wells or lighting....
Game is very pretty! Nice lighting and great textures! Building is definitely a high point for the game as well. It can feel janky at times, but the results are quite nice! Very nice for a voxel based system.
Oh i love it! I just bought Enshrouded yesterday, but this gave me a lot of inspiration! Now i just have to play for a few hours to get all the blocks and items i need 😍🥰
I have be pleasantly surprised! Definitely has some great things going for it. Will be great to splice in with Valheim as both are great games for building
Really happy about the fact u start playing this specific game, hope for more interesting builds! Btw, i try to get inspiration from your valheim Edoras build and try to build same style colony in enshrouded. Slowly but steady progressing. for solo player with big ideas it's hard to progress fast lol... Anyway, peace buddy, will keep eye on your channel.
This guy really cares. Get comfortable, well rested, and fill your buffs. You're about to learn something cool. hahahaha All jokes aside, I really enjoy this guy's ability to create something amazing, yet so simple.
damn OK I might have to get this game. I love building and I'm really impressed with the flexibility and the very nice looking assets. Super nice build!!! Definitely getting some inspiration :)
Would definitely recommend it! It's got spots that need work, but for an early access title this is actually one of the more polished ones. Definitely worth picking up if you like this type of game. Glad i could inspire!
Oh man, I wasn't sure about buying this game after playing the long demo but I do love the building in it. I may buy it just for that lol. I got hooked on Palworld first. I think I will buy this after I finish another game. I probably will grow to like the main game in time. The building in this looks like a builders dream! As I am sure you will feel too!!
some tips: you can get books from the abandoned homes for free, go to any large abandoned settlement in the game and just loot them off the shelves. i recommend the woodgard town just west of the springlands ancient spire. plenty of abandoned homes to raid and plenty of books around.
Yes!!! I've been hoping for you to try this game! Even though I still prefer Valheims building system I've still had a lot of fun building in this game. It's very different from Valheim but that's what makes it fun y'know, trying something new. And seeing this proves to me that It's possible to make some incredible stuff in Enshrouded. it's still a very new game but the general feeling I've gotten is that given time, Enshrouded has the potential to become an Incredible game, not just for building but a great survival game in general. I'm looking forward to seeing what becomes of this game!
Yep, I love both of them for what they are. Valheim for the structural foundation logic, which is a fun challenge and reward loop, and Enshrouded for the freedom and beautiful dynamic procedural voxel building and materials.
Don't know about a hobbit home BUT I this building video showed me what I needed to see to build my hunting lodge!!!! :D getting the game pretty soon here and when I do and get into the game enough oooooooh man am I going to enjoy making myself a hunting lodge!!!! :D
Thanks you so much for building on Enshrouded ! I really hope you’ll continue ! I was only waiting to see how you will build on this game to buy it myself 😇 ! You are inspiring !
It seems this game was heavily inspired by Valheim. It's similar in a lot of aspects (for instance, it's not a hardcore survival, so food = buffs), you unlock recipes by finding the material (wood, rock, metal, etc). But it really builds on top of it. There's more traversal options, like a wingsuit and a grappling hook (although boats don't seem to be a thing, not sure yet, haven't been too far). There's much more lore, story and quests; building is better, you select the shape and material (already an improvement), but are not limited by the predefined shapes: you can do anything block by block if you wish, shaping it however you want. Building-wise, I think we'll see some crazy creations here as well...
ehh... this game is far more casual than valheim is, in valheim you actually feel like you're in a survival game especially when you reach the plains biome, your base gets raided all the time and the raids get more intense once you start taking out the bosses, and you actually have a reason to turtle up and build defensive fortifications. whereas in enshrouded, the only real danger is from the shroud and even then it doesnt really feel dangerous since its not very populated. i'll definitely be spending a lot of time enjoying this game, but in the end i will still be going back to valheim.
Interesting Analysis of the two. I think that comparison of these games is at times overdone. Ensrhouded does borrow certain systems, but overall I'd say the two games just play completely differently. Enshrouded is more like a Survival-Fable, where-as Valheim feels more like a Survival-Soulslike. Preference of which is better is going go totally depend on the player, but I'd lean toward Valheim from an immersion standpoint.
Very cozy. Hope they'll add round doors and doorways in future updates. Also 45° beams and elements as well as the ability to rotate and place objects at an 45° angle or even better, a free rotation system like in Valheim. Just a little critique: you have quite a few fireplaces in there, but i've seen no chimneys. It looks comparatively well ventilated with all the big open windows, but still.
This game has got the bones to be a GREAT building game. Devs need to polish some things up with the interface and make it a little less clunky, but there is massive potential here.
@@smittysurvival yea hopefully the clunkiness is addressed in a future update, I was reading somewhere yesterday the devs said they had over 2000 fan recommendations which is funny but also shows people really care and love the game and want it to be perfect, for example look at the current build of cyberpunk with the phantom liberty DLC there has probably been over 2000 changes/ improvements made and the game is now pretty perfect.
"In a hole in the ground, there lived a Hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort."
One of my favorite things about Enshrouded is the fact that we can clip items through walls and other objects. So many other games make the build items have massive collision boxes.
is this doable on normal gameplay?
@@patrickpaulo34 Haven't seen any abnormal gameplay yet, so probably.
It reminds me a lot of Old Days Sims Construction, the detail on Building its Awesome
@@patrickpaulo34 There are no mods for this game. So yeah, the only gameplay you see is normal gameplay.
Yeah it's an unintuitive design choice as a game programmer/designer, but I hope the industry realizes this is what you need to let users create good buildings

You can tell the devs put their heart and soul into this game. What a great building system, other similar games should take note.
Agreed. Early Access titles can be real stinkers, and what they've released has really been quite a pleasant surprise! Lots of potential here

ehh... this game is far more casual than valheim is, in valheim you actually feel like you're in a survival game especially when you reach the plains biome, your base gets raided all the time and the raids get more intense once you start taking out the bosses, and you actually have a reason to turtle up and build defensive fortifications. whereas in enshrouded, the only real danger is from the shroud and even then it doesnt really feel dangerous since its not very populated. i'll definitely be spending a lot of time enjoying this game, but in the end i will still be going back to valheim.
Looks great on the outside. Those sharp, square, pointy corners look to blocky on the inside.
Yeah curves are tough to do in this game for sure
Finally seen you making video of this game🤠
Definitely fun to try something new! It'll be nice to splice in some Enshrouded with Valheim as they're both really great to build in!
You're right. It's great for Hobbit holes! Great job!
You sir, are an Artist! So inspiriring!
Thank you so much! Just glad I can share my hobbies with you all :)
I think in say 6 months, a year, we're going to see some mind blowing builds, full LOTRS castles, Rivendell, GOT settlements, castles
If there is a mod for making rounded/curved shapes it would be perfect
Agreed! Hopefully the devs just add them!
This looks so good! I should get back into Enshrouded.
Really great build!
I was floored with your Edoras in Valheim... What's next, Rivendell? Helm's Deep? I love it!
LOTR inspiration is in no short supply!
Love the build, great work on that one! 😃
Thank you! Glad you liked it!
Thanks for the new video and for bringing a new game to my attention! It was a wonderful build.
