It’s great your dog stays by your side while working away - I have a wolfhound puppy and he does the same

Nice video Tom. Only trouble is, that propshaft is about 20" too long for a proper Defender..lol.

Your video reinforces my view that much of the poor LR reputation for reliability is down to the owners' actions. How can one possibly fail to lubricate the UJs? This is a requirement for every service. If one is off roading or on an expedition they have to be greased very much more often.
If the previous owner didn't grease the UJs what other abominations did he commit?

That Goes through my head as well about what else has been forgot about!
Yes i totally agree! Unfortunately its a very common problem. Even garages that dont realise things parts on land rovers need lubricating as part of the service. Take mine for example, i have full service history and loads of recipts from previous owners and it had an extra service from the "Car" dealership where i bought it but yet every grease nipple bearing was seized, this goes to show that whoever serviced it over the last few years didnt realise or know about the extra checks which then leads to breakdowns/ more costs to worn parts. If the service checks are done right they are a reliable car. My family have always had land rovers and worked them hard but because of correct servicing we havent had many problems with them.

@@lifes.projects We are on the same page here.
After having been sold contaminated fuel in Hungary I wanted to overhaul the injection system. My local LR workshop didn't want to touch it and particularly not the timing belt. So I did it myself and having done this tricky job I started to question whether I still needed the workshop. The answer was of course "no". My Defender hasn't been back there since.

I cant fault you! At least doing it yourself you know your way around your own vehicle (especially if you are in the middle of no where) and then you know its done right!
