- Does "the old way" of egg preservation really work?
Today we are eating our eggs that have been preserved "the old way" with the water glassing method for almost 2 years! We will test out the old eggs and compare them to fresh eggs to see what difference 20 months in a jar of lime solution makes. Is it worth it to preserve eggs with liming or water-glassing? Let's find out!

Good afternoon 🙏😊
I too have two year old eggs! They work perfectly for scrambled eggs and for baking. lol I just have to make the scrambled eggs WITHOUT my family seeing me. They love them it if they see that I use the water glasses eggs they won’t eat them.
The smell I think is just the lime from setting . But I wash the eggs before I crack them and they are fine.
Thank you for sharing this. Josh is a good sport! 😊
Good video. I have heard they will last for 2 years but had not seen anyone do this. Good stuff! Curious though how long they will last. I smiled because Annie won't eat them but she will feed to her family...lol. Even a fresh egg that is stored on its side (which these are) will have the yolk stick to the shell - this is why they are sold pointy end down and why when incubating, the eggs are turned..to prevent that very thing. So not really surprised the yolk was sticking.
Fun video! Glad to get the update on those after all these months!
Thank you for the demonstration ❣️
Mine are about 9 months old, will post try them soon ❣️
God Bless Y'all ❣️❣️
This was interesting thanks. I'm wondering how they differ nutritionally now that they have aged and been limed. That would be very interesting to know.
Good thoughts 🤔 now we are intrigued 🤠

I have 2 half gal.jars full In a closet, been there18mos.they look just like yours....now I know that when you incubate eggs you have to turn them throughout the day so they don't stick.....water glassed eggs I guess do that because that aren't turned?? Maybe?
Hi really love your videos n I remember watching when you made the first batch I’m just wondering you mentioned you have a lot of lime so the lime doesn’t go off? If you store them in Mylar bags with oxygen absorbers?
I don't believe lime will go bad necessarily. You just need to keep it dry and fresh. We store ours in 5 gallon buckets and do not put oxygen absorbers in there.
Have you tried to hard boil the water glassed eggs? Would be interesting to see how they turn out. Deviled eggs, yum yum.
Hmmm 🤔 maybe soon 😉

Don't want to eat an egg that old. It really did not appeal to me. Seems like the egg white was not clear. If I had too many eggs, I would just donate and donate.
In bad times, could use for a trade if you have enough food.
My husband and I are the same way. He’s all about eating whatever but I wouldn’t touch them knowing they’ve been in there 2 years and especially after smelling it 😆 we threw our first batch away without trying them
