just an FYI. Boardwalk is a great skate! but if you find you want more padding in the boot go for their fame OR a great alternative is VNLA a la mode or Luna . Just sharing as I loved the boardwalk but they were uncomfortable to me so I ended up w/ VNLA and I am very happy. I am a beginner skater
I got mine last week. Pulled back rug in livingroom to practice. I did have to put band-aids on my toes and ankles. Today I went to rink. What a difference, I'm not an expert but I really like these skates. I too was nervous about the correct size but it worked out when I used their sizing chart.
I actually figured I could wait a while because we get lots of snow where I am and the closest skating rink is 140 miles away... but I ordered these in black and they're almost here. Lots of shipping updates, should get them tomorrow.
Have you received them yet? If so, how are you loving them?! I wanted black ones sooo bad but I figured I would purchase the ones available to me and eventually dye them down to a black. It snows often here where I am residing but it looks as though the snow is slowing down so the streets are clear, but they just issued a stay at home order and you can only leave the house for food, work, exercise and healthcare. SO, technically I can go out but I'm afraid of any possible encounters with law enforcement. :(
I like them. The only issues are with my feet being different sizes, so one foot is usually loose. I like being able to adjust the toe stops and everything is functioning great for this beginner. Sometimes I can go into the parking lot where I live if enough snow melts, or practice small movements on my patio, but I'm dying to get with a coworker and skate on the fresh addition to the parking lot at work. Weather is my only real problem, we're not populated enough in Montana to keep people from being outdoors.
@@danielleoren1828 I feel you on the foot size being different. I would highly suggest making some adjustments to the shoe laces if you haven't already. When I first got my sure grips, for two weeks I had the traditional style lacing and one foot would always go numb. So, now I lace them up specifically for wide feet. It's not aesthetically pleasing but my goodness, my feet are so thankful lol
Well I have narrow feet actually. I've tried a lacing technique for the ankles and for just the toes and I don't like them. I'll try the wide feet one just in case, not like I'm doing so much on them that I'll fall on my 5 foot patio.
Heyyyy! I cancelled my Moxi order as well, ordered June 3, 2020 not gonna be available to January 2021. it kepted changing. I cant wait to get my black suede boardwalks
OMG YASSSS welcome to the boardwalk family! I really wished I could have purchased the black ones! But I thought perhaps I could eventually dye my skates purple, then eventually black. :)
I've been hearing from a few different sources that sure-grip boardwalk are a much better quality skate than moxi's... Stitched on sole etc.., the plate, wheels everything is better. Moxi's highly overrated. It will be interesting to see longer term reviews of these. Excellent colour by the way.
😮 I wear 7.5 to 8 and got same blue Boardwalks size 7. I don’t need bunions from squished feet. Mine came with 57 wheels. I ordered 65 wheels like yours but didn’t receive the bearings yet. I’m not good enough to go outside.
Thats one of the reasons why I didn't mind getting this color because if I ever did want to switch it up, I can dye them a few colors before going to my fav color which is black!
They’re absolutely gorgeous 😍 of course I had to buy the Sure Grip Stardust skates because of the sparkles lol but I think these will be my next pair 😍
thanks for the review I just bought mine yesterday. would you kindly shared update about the sizing did they actually break in do your toes hurt did the ankle part on top actually loosen up for you? I'm the same size as you eight and a half wide foot but I got the seven I saw a lot of people about the six but I was very reluctant please let me know cuz I would not mind exchanging if they actually do loosen up and you actually feel comfortable with them broken in mainly the front narrow part in your toes thank you in advance they're so cute I can't wait to get mine!
I would most definitely recommend this to a newbie skater! The bearings on these skates are perfect for a new skater because they wont roll as fast or feel as slippery. I've been skating for a while now and when I received these, I immediately upgraded my bearings for some Redz bearings and I kept the original ones as backup. The boot has a nice stiffness for beginners (some advance skaters might feel as though its too stiff and needs a brake in session before you can really enjoy them) and its a great set up to learn and practice with. Not to mention, its an absolutely beautiful boot!
This is great info! The Moxi’s are sold out and I was looking for an alternate skate that would feel decent with a slightly wide foot. The color you have these in are the same color I was interested in. Could you drop a link or some info on where you purchased your toe-stops and toe guards? I’m very new to skating (haven’t skated since I was about 13/14 years old).
I get all my gear at my local skate shop (they do ship nationwide) at www.medusaskates.com/ They are so awesome. Their phone number is textable, and I always call/text/email ahead of time before I make a purchase and they are so nice to let me know what's in stock and what may not be in stock. They are LEGIT the best company I have ever purchased skate stuff from. When I order, I always get my stuff shipped to me within that same week! I hope they're able to serve your skate needs! Toe Caps: www.medusaskates.com/Riedell-Toe-Caps-p/c42.htm (you can always go a less expensive route and get the toe straps but in my experience, these tend to shift around so I prefer the caps. Toe Stops: www.medusaskates.com/grindstone-heartstoppers-p/gss1.htm They have them available in long and short stems. Long would be something I recommend for beginners since they are a little closer to the ground and it doesnt take much to tippy toe to stop yourself and short stems of course would be used for people who prefer more space from the ground. From other reviewers, some people prefer the short stems specifically on the heart stoppers because the footprint of the toe stop itself is fairly large, so some people have said that having a longer stem, the toe stop sometimes gets in the way of regular skating and they sometimes 'trip' on the toe stop. This can be fixed by screwing the toe stop up so its shorter and closer to the boot, but you can only screw the long stem toe stop up so high before it starts to lift the boot away from the nylon plate. I hope this helps and feel free to ask any questions you may have!!!!
Thank you for such a great video on these skates, I live in France and dream of having these! So hard to find here so hunted basically the rest of Europe and a shop in Poland has a pair 😅 and here I am now pondering over sizing. You have been of great help and I thank you! 😁.... Plus I found your video not only helpful but also really entertaining 😁 ...... Just wondering after all this time if your boot stretched in length to give you more toe area?
I want to love them after two weeks….but…..anyone else getting pain on ankle boot and blistering in that area. Otherwise they seem to fit fine. How long to break in and is it worth it? Area is now so sore that it is making a general skate session painful
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to do a solid skate in them yet due to this semesters classes filling up my schedule BUT (don't judge me) I wear them consistently at my desk while I study (they give me good vibes lol) and wear them around the house while getting coffee and snacks and JUST by wearing them like that and switching up the lacing to accommodate my wide foot (and occasionally bending the ankle area with my elbows while I watch netflix), they are feeling SOOO good. At this rate, I would say little to no break in period and by the time I do take them out for a spin, they will be A1 sauce. I will def come back to this comment though after I take them a few spins.
@@kkor1462 How is the leather feeling now after almost 4 months of skating? Some moxis that I've seen look as though after the break in period, there is no general stiffness in the ankle area so I was wondering if you feel its a similar process for boardwalks.
