At the top level or expert level in Quickstep (usually beyond Gold syllabus, so either Novice, Pre-Champ, or Champ), the scatter chasse in dancesport Quickstep can be a setup for a myriad of quickstep advanced tricks. In Gold syllabus, learning the Tipsy will give you an idea on the syncopated hop actions that will appear in the more advanced Scatter Chasse.
2 examples of such a set up are listed below.
Scatter Chasse into the Progressive Side-Close Hops in Closed Hold (Lead Part).
1 step of a Natural Turn (S) on RF into the Scatter Chasse LRLR (Q and Q and) in PP, and then changing hold to Closed Hold, into L side and close-up R to L foot with hop so L is propelled in a way that the L foot is about a few inches above the room and that this L foot is straight and pointed on a diagonal, (QQ), and you repeat the two actions (QQ), which I call "Side-Close Hops". (So, SQ&Q&QQQQ).
Scatter Chasse into the Bullet Hops in PP Hold (Lead Part)
Another scatter chasse example has the same 1-step of step 1 of Natural Turn on RF (S), and go to PP to Scatter Chasses LRLR (Q and Q and), and then going into PP into step hop forward L, cross RF and at the same time HOP the LF into a straight point slightly off the floor (QQ), and you do the same two actions aforementioned again (QQ).
(Same timing here would be SQ&Q&QQQQ)

Wow, I can see how Egils and his partner stay so trim! The scatter chasses are hard work after a while it is like skipping on the spot.

Why after scatter chasse to left you do tipple chasse to right? I understand that tipple chasse to right is sqqs qqs, where man goes back on left foot on slow, first then do the tipple chasse section, qqs, then do a forward lock qqs. Since man
has right foot free why not do tipple chasse to left group sqqs qqs as
man goes forward on slow first then do
tipple chasse section qqs, then do back
lock qqs? To me tipple chasse to left brings man moving towards line of dance or diagonal center. The way you seem to
direct the forward lock step for man, he is
travelling diagonal against line of dance. Please explain reason for using variation of tipple chasse to right and not use the true chasse to left instead ? Thank you, I love your videos and have learned greatly from you! Regina

Thanks for the interesting question. Indeed after Scatter Chasse you could continue with Right Foot forward Diagonally to Wall with Tipple Chasse to Left and Back Lock Ending. It's quite good option. But then, finishing the phrase I would be left with Man backing to the Line of Dance. I decided to end the composition with Tipple Chasse to Right, starting from the 2nd step, because in this way we end phrasing (even count of bars or mesures) and I finish with facing Line of Dance or Diagonally to Wall.
Natural Spin Turn, Progressive Chasse - 4 bars
Step Hops and Scatter Chase to Right - 2 bars
Scatter Chase to Left - 2 bars
Tipple Chasse to Right from step 2 and Forward Lock Ending - 2 bars
Because of your question I came up with one more version which is even better in relation to music (4 bars), but involves more difficult Tipsy movement.
      Tipple Chasse to Left SQQS
      Tipsy Q&Q Q&Q Q&Q
      Forward Lock Ending QQS

Hi, Teacher Egils. The aforementioned step hop is done in QQ. What the difference compare to step hop with "Slow&" timing?

    • @EgilsSmagris
      @EgilsSmagris  2 роки тому +2

Q (quick) corresponds to one beat of music. Slow corresponds to two beats of music.
      & steals 1/2 from previous
      beat.
      QQ - 1.0, 1.0
      S& - 1.5, 0.5

@@EgilsSmagris Thank you for d explanation. So Step hop with QQ step and hop on 1 , then land on 2? Step hop with "slow&" step and hop on 1.5, land on d remain 0.5?
