    3:35 you aren’t threatening to fork anything, the rook is protected by the Queen, WHICH IS HANGING, THATS why you can’t deal with the queen preventing you from castling.

    • @alandouglas2789
      @alandouglas2789 Рік тому

      Wrong. It is a fork, but after the black moves he can take the queen with his rook on d1

  • @hallow50
    @hallow50 Рік тому

    5:57 is Qxe6 a move
    -It threatens to take the f2 pawn and wins a pawn
    -They cant take because if Rg7+,Kh8,Rh7+,Kg8 and Rcg7#
    -if they take your pawn on f2 with check and then take your pawn on g3, you are still fine because you have Rxf2 and you have the same amount of material but more activity.
    Edit: I just realized once black takes pawn with check and your king goes to a3, they don't have to take your g pawn but can actually play something like Rbe8 attacking the queen and suddenly they are the ones in control of the position. They can also play Qf1 after Ka3 , threatening checkmate on a1. this gives them a small but still strong advantage.

    I once witnesed a rated game of two about 16-1800 players where both got 3 queens, both also had a rook and some pawns, one player made the mistake to capture a queen with their rook, then the other player attacked their king and succeded in getting checkmate after a king chase.

    Stupid newb question time. Right after white captures the D4 pawn at about 2:01, what prevents black from Q-A5 check, then next move capturing the bishop at B5? Is there a way to both get out of check and defend the bishop, is there a trap when capturing the bishop, or is this a sacrifice? I'm going to presume some good reason as Nelson says he's "very comfortable" with capturing with the queen instead of the knight (which would have also guarded the bishop), and because black ignored this moved and played P-A6 instead.

    None of my chess sets came with more than one queen of each colour.
    By the way, in a tournament game with arbiters and everything, if my opponent promoted to an upturned rook, as soon as it was my turn I'd say "j'adoube" and calmly turn the rook the right way up, because an upturned rook is still just a rook! My opponent could have stopped the clock, called an arbiter and asked for another queen.
    Of course in a private game where you don't necessarily have any extra queens, I'd no doubt adopt a more flexible attitude.
