Rockport Music presents Xavier Foley, double bass

In this virtual concert, Rockport Music's Concert View presents the dynamic and thrilling bassist Xavier Foley performing Bach’s Cello Suite No. 1, as well as a series of original works. He is joined in this performance by pianist Kelly Lin.
Winner of the 2016 Young Concert Artists Competition and the 2014 Sphinx Competition, Foley was hailed by The Philadelphia Inquirer as “… a standout player….a musician who hears borders between styles as limitation best ignored. He has appeared as soloist with the Sphinx and Atlanta symphony orchestras, Philadelphia Orchestra, and the Nashville Symphony, and made his Carnegie Hall solo debut with the Sphinx Virtuosi, with which he was a soloist on East and West coast tours. Also a composer, he is a 2016 graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, where he studied both composition and performance with Edgar Meyer and Hal Robinson. Xavier Foley strives to incorporate all styles of music into his work, whether it be cultural, national, or folk music.

Wonderful original compositions! What a blast for listeners everywhere, and for bassists who can play them. I adore the Bach Suite almost any way it's interpreted, but this just soars and floats, so essentially musical. And what a story Xavier Foley is telling in the Gliere, right to the heart.

The jazz classical piece reminds me of Miroslav Vitous when he would play a monstrous arco bass solos over jazz chords....Xavier Keep playing that futuristic jazz with the Bass On Top...

hay tanto bueno en youtube que uno suele centrarse en su instrumento. El mío es la guitarra y en este mismo escenario vi al extraordinario Grisha Goryachey. Pero reconozco que Xavier Foley es tan buen músico como cualquiera pueda serlo en su instrumento, y me ha encantado verle, y con este descubrimiento maravillarme más con la Música, traída este vehículo tan espectacular, pero como pocos lo tienen en su casa no tiene tanta audiencia como los más comunes.
