This is animal abuse you know
The only good thing you get from house lizard is that they eat harmful bugs. But still you need to control their number by killing some. Not all, as that will put you into the risk of having diseases from other bugs.
Uh, there's already animal in some house especially in rural area that are predator to lizard. I find lizard are very useful in my house, eating cockroach, bugs, mite, etc. I also find ants are useful. But rats, birds, centipede, larger spider, etc are their predator

They can easily come in contact with food and children, many people have phobia of them, They die in small places and starts to rot, which is bad and they sometimes jump on people which may give them fright and also they look pretty ugly. No reason to keep spiders, termites, ants, lizards and rats or mice to keep them in home. They are a sign of low hygiene home. Would you like to see lizard in a five star hotel room which paid for, Of course NO. Then why keep them in house.
Killing them in a single blow is good because animals suffer less that way.

The reason behind the food-poisoning due to felling of house geckos in eatables is described in this paper. House geckos are known to carry various types of pathogens in their bodies which cause food-poisoning after consuming the contaminated foods. Since these geckos are non-poisonous, the food poisoning due to their presence in food is not possible.
I think gecko is different from lizard it much bigger and sometimes each gecko have there own color and it's very sticky that's why don't touch or beware to jump on on you it's stick to you...

found in the study, geckos are linked with Salmonella. The geckos being found in human habitation shows that man can be infected through contaminated food and water by faeces and saliva of the reptile or accidentally ingesting the egg"

Allah created many dangerous animals. If they enter human house and can cause trouble you have permission to kill them but in a humane manner. Such as a house lizard (and get rewarded by being humane with 1 killing blow as opposed to multiple hits and slow death)
He never said to poison them.
He never said to go and kill all of them to extinction.
Humans use traps and poison that cause prolonged suffering, the Prophet is against this.
So the Prophet merely gives permission to kill them but to do it humanely and swiftly without prolonged suffering.

Quran is clear God created all things in living pairs. Bacteria doesn't come in living pairs. Same go for lizards. Lizards are females that reproduce on their own without a male.

We shouldn’t blindly follow the hadith/Hadith books. It’s not the book of Almighty God. There are copious hadiths which were fabricated by the name of prophet, even these hadith books were appeared 200+ years after the death of Mohammad (pbuh) as like the way bible was fabricated. That's the bitter truth.
God is merciful, he loves & cares every creatures. If anyone harm any soul, nature or anything he/she deserves to be punished by God. This individual is not a prophet, just blindly following the hadith literature which is fabricated.

This is why one should do much research when reading a Hadith to make sure that it is Authentic and reliable in the chain of transmission and the person who heard the prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) say it was a trustworthy individual.
