Hi, I've only got 4 mins in and feel that I'm going to be able to learn this song thanks to your video, I've never picked up a guitar in my life and just got one to learn this song during the crazy times were having, this song is especially important to me, this was the song for our weddings first dance, and I want to learn it to play for my wife who has struggled with bpd, childhood anxiety attacks and depression most her life and hasn't left the home in over 2 years and just as we started making progress and getting her out the world went to shit and we are back at the beginning so I want to do something to keep a smile on her face, so I'd just like to say thank you for making this video, seriously thank you 👍
Hey Marty My wife loves this song and I practised for ages what you taught. She was delighted when I finally told her I learned a tune. You explained it well.Hey cheers.Keep up the good work.
Some people have trouble playing and singing. Don't worry about it. You're a fantastic guitarist and teacher/educator. Love following you from the simplest to the toughest. Keep on keeping on....
ever since ive found ur channel i hav learned songs in like 5 minutes or so... compared to when i took lesson and took me days to learn one song:) thank you so much
I met Brudda Iz on several occassions and I have always like this song. I like listening to Iz singing this song, in particular, because it was so "child-like".
Great techaer man,I've been learning from zero to an acceptable level of skills for a beginner, all thanks to your lessons.THANKS MILLION MARTY!Añso your sense of humour keeps me learning.
Thanks bro! 5 years on this video is still helping people learn this song. I was trying to figure out the chords to this song (most websites were inaccurate) and having trouble placing that B7. Your led to me to the proper chord :)
^Thnx To U Nd Justin I Started Guitar 6 Months Ago Nd Nw I Play Bst In My Skool Nd Sweet Child O Mine Feels So Easy THNX To U 2 Bst Teachers EVER !!!!!
I started in January my friend and I have been playing pretty much everyday and I can move from cord to cord pretty well. Just stick with it and keep practicing you will get it in a couple of weeks for sure!
I LOVE your videos, The way you teach just makes it easy to learn. I just got my first acoustic last week. Super beginner. I got this down, well got completely but i can play it for the most part, in about 1 hr. I love all your videos!!!
I've been teaching myself for a couple years and recently started taking lessons. You do get to the point where chord progressions comes natural. I'm just trying to get technique down and strum patterns.
found ya about 6 months ago. been a lot of fun looking forward to learning more. I'm looking to learn dirty heads sloths revenge of you ever get to it. thanks again I learned a lot so far. look forward to more.
lol it took me just under 2 months from actually starting to learning the guitar to get down that palm mute with the back of your palm. HARD WORK PAYS OFF :) and I love the results if you just stick to learning in no matter how frustrated it gets you :)
Marty, Thank you for putting this up. It was really cool because this is my fiance's favorite song and I was going to learn it for her and play it at our wedding. I'm having trouble muting the strings like you talked about, but it's coming along none the less. Thanks for all of your great videos, you've taught me a lot.
I've been slowly learning the guitar and I find this is a really good song to start with. It even sounds better on a twelve string. If anyone tries it you will enjoy it.
cool!! nice, marty, to share this stuff for free! haven't played for years and when I went to youtube some days ago for finding something nice this was the first good one I stayed with.... thank you! For those who got problems with that "mute style" (like when using e-guitar..) -> just pause (so don't strike the strings) on the 2nd and 5ht cadence on each 8/4 cycle... I hope you may understand...I am definitely no pro..lol... marty, thanks again!!! I love akoustic guitar play!!!
Your a awesome teacher! :) At my school we got a guitartest + singing, and im gonna preform this song.. and im beginner at guitar, so yeah! Wish me luck
dude i couldn't play nothing until watching your vids you are the best tutor iv ever used and theses are vids man not in person lol cheers mate learning this 1 now my capo as just arrived :-)
@ brozzahcheese Although I've got a capo, you do not necessarily need one if you understand would it does. By barring the strings, the capo raises the key half a tone with every position upwards. Marty plays Gmajor, Dmajor, Eminor and Cmajor, while putting the capo just before the 5th fret. It means that the capo transposes Gmajor>Cmajor, Dmajor>Gmajor, Eminor>Aminor and Cmajor>Emajor. Recapitulated you could also play C, G, Am and E without capo as long as you play them in the same octave.
I have been playing a long time and Marty has the best stuff out there dont get caught up in the theory if at all to later on. Marty keeps it simple and builds confidence when y learn. Once u learn one song , it will keep u going , another easy song it "all right " by joe cocker, it is a, then d , capo on 3rd fret to keep u going
yes. I've been playing for four months and had the same problem. If you practice as much as you can then it will go away. I don't even have to think about chord changes, its just natural to me now. Hope this helps!
@dme62003 I was exactly the same. I remember I couldn't get the D chord right for ages and I felt as if I had hit some sort of wall. The trick is to keep playing over and over again. Don't worry about playing it too slowly or slowing down when you reach the chord. Watch the fret board while you're playing, and eventually you'll end up playing with your eyes shut without even noticing, just feeling the music...
Nice one Marty. IZ's version of this song is the best. Funny you posted this, I just turned my brother on to the song and he's working it out on his latest passion, a pedal steel guitar lol.....
You think theres any way that you could post the chords, in the description of your tutorial videos? By the way i love your videos, and think that you are by far the best teacher on the internet, and better than the guitar teacher i had before.
Nice on Marty. IZ's version of this song is the best. Funny you posted this, I just turned my brother on to the song and he's working it out on his latest passion, a pedal steel guitar lol.....
