FYI you can hit multiple models under the central hole, but only one is hit with the high S attack. Risk being hit says that any model even partially under the central hole is automatically hit. So if you land a 3" blast in the middle of say 4 dragon ogres, it automatically hits 2 of them even if the blast doesn't cover their base

one thing to protect warmachines: a 5 slayer unit with a Giantslayer or a Doomseeker, i've tried a lone doomseeker and was nice, but i got a -1 movement on the mercenary roll, so, maybe it's better the 5 dude unit

Played my first dwarf game yesterday, with a canon and an organ gun against high elves. I underestimated how bad BS 3 is on the organ gun, fortunately my lords and heroes cleaved through what ever he put against me and my rangers cleared his backline. I defently found love for the humble dwarf warrior with shield wall and great weapon, and the multipurpose rangers.

I’m taking an expeditionary force with 6 war machines to my 1st tourney next weekend. This was great. Thanks for providing all that insight and tactics. Quick question, with giving the war machines “move and shoot” for the organs guns that use the crews artillery to determine hits, does the movement penalty for shooting apply to the “to hit” for the war machines as well? I assume it does as the rules for multi barreled state at the very end “apply all appropriate modifiers”. Great video as always and keep up the great work!

grudge and organ gun are my favorite so far. I manage to shoot over 14 shoot 3 turn in a row :) with organ gun. I gonna try cannon because it for me a classic artillery that i have to try ! Thank for you vidz!
@@Dawiafterdark with my friends we will try a campaign. 600 army list, with only 1 character max 100pts, limit of 1000 lowered to 750pts. I tried several list but not manage to take a win yet. (in like 7-8 game.), maybe too agressive or not artillery. My next try are: runesmith- full plate shield, 2 rune of shielding 12 rangers great weapon, shield 10 warrios (full command) shield 5thunderers (champion only) shield 1 gyro clatterguns 5 irondrake (champion with tornado) or xpedition list: burlok damminson 10 thunderers (full command) great weapon shield 15 warriors (full command) shield 10 thunderers (full command) great weapon shield 1gyro clatterguns
Always great content. One thing I learned is that giving them engineering runes gives them magical attacks which helps against ethereal playlists. Which unfortunately eliminates the organ gun imo. So I usually only take cannons and/or grudge throwers as they are more flexible if you don't know what you will be up against.

Don't be too hard on the poor Flame cannon. I think with the "Function over Form" upgrade from the X-Force there is some fun to be had. (but yeah, it's in a tough spot. Doesn't even force a panic at one casualty. That might have been a redeeming quality) Another aspect on the mathematics of Grudge Throwers: On a direct hit against models on 25mm bases, you score most hits (both automatic and partial) on units which have an equal number of ranks and files. Against 30mm models, either rank or file should be uneven. Good thing to keep in mind if you have the choice of targets (and there are no other strategic implications).
As usual, another good episode. I'm enjoying these even though I don't play Dwarves! I have a question, I am still a beginner, so please do forgive me if this is really obvious. If a unit that has the evasive rule and are targeted by a cannon, can they avoid it? If so, how would that scenario play out? Thank you

@@robertpigeon2530 so I use 32mm for mine just so they look nice on the tabletop , I normally use slightly bigger bases for my artillery so they can fit better , if anything it’s more a tactical disadvantage as they are easier to hit , but they look better bigger

I still have 3 of the itty bitty cannons that came in the battle for skull pass set, and an old lego catapult which is a bit bigger than the grudge thrower you have. Shame the cannons are pretty dreadful in TOW.
It’s a grudging that Dawi gunpowder lacks power. Should have a ‘superior mixture’ or ‘perfected powder’ rule that has stronger projectiles, reflecting the dwarves powder recipe being of higher quality than that of manlings.
You mention aiming with the cannon to bounce through and hit units behind the one you're targeting. Are there any restrictions on doing that when the unit behind is one you can't see (i.e. not a large target) and it's obvious that that's what you're really trying to hit? I don't ask this to cast aspersions or anything, I expect competitive players will be doing whatever they're allowed to do, just genuinely interested to know how tournaments deal with this.
@@ClydeMillerWynant so as long as you pick a point on the ground you can see it’s fine you can even shoot through woods that way . I personally don’t like shooting through woods but people do it , it’s in the rules so it’s fair game :)

Would have thought they might have ruled out the woods thing on the grounds you should be able to see something in the direction you're firing, but not really surprised. The other one that I'd raise an eyebrow at is 'aiming' right in front of a unit you can see that is only one rank deep (i.e. you can't possibly hit it as a 2 will take you over) in order to hit something behind, but I guess they (or Rob at least) are allowing that too as there's not really a rule against it. Think it's actually a bit of a shame that they didn't rewrite cannons entirely, was a good opportunity to finally do it.
So I really don’t like the rule and think you should be able to see what you’re shooting at , but those are the decided rules so might aswell use them I suppose . Personally for version two I’d like a redo

Man that pivoting thing is cheesy. It's so obnoxious that I don't think GW will even address it in an FAQ. I'm not sure what the best way as a community for us to respond to these types of rules is. Love the channel!
Can imagine it might get FAQ'd though I see your point! The rules on woods aren't very good to my mind - old pre-8th Ed rules where you had to be within 2" of the edge for shooting out and to be shot at made much more sense.
Be careful with your pivot tactic. Please double ceck the base size and the rule for pivoting. It works different as the pivoting of "open order" rule.

Pivoting isn’t classed as a move so your all good :)
Can you aim for the back of a unit since you can't see it?
So basically you pick a point that is ten inches infront of the back of the unit :) that’s statistically the best place to shoot :)

Yeah 100 percent , apart from other artillery is actually better than dwarf artillery but the tactics are the same :)

Empire always had the better cannon, even in older editions of WHF. It was BS then and is BS now.

The Barak var color are purple, but i havent made them that bright lol, only the Shield/banner

It’s not brokenly good it just gives a bad taste. Rolling the cannons up and firing is what should make the D.E.F. special.
