Whats Going On was Marvins best and it touched me on a deeper level not even understanding English , because i lived in Germany at that time ! So Marvin will always have a place in my heart !

Marvin was what we call today an "Empath". He absorbed not only his own personal pain but the pain of the world. He had the practical tool - his piano - but the genius came from the sensuality he naturally possessed, combined with the pleasures and pain he experienced so intensely and his ability to translate it into million dollar songs that he expressed so brilliantly with THAT VOICE. His appearance on Motown 25 (in the white suit) in 1984 is the quintessential Marvin and his performance an absolute Masterpiece of Musical genius.💔

His political music gives me chills. Still relevant today. The most gorgeous sexy man of his time. Intelligent and sensitive. Off the chain even today.👄👄👄💕💗🎹🎼🎶☝️️😎👄💔💔

I wonder what the music industry would be like today if he was still with us. I know people would be chomping at the bit to collaborate with him today. Rip Marvin Pence Gaye

Marvin was well ahead of his time , a beautiful soul in spite of having such a screwed up parent to deal with . So sad that his life had to end the way it did . He deserved so much better . R.I.P Marvin , feel so privileged to have met you in person .

I was a 4-year-old kid in the 70s when WHAT'S GOING ON was playing on the airwaves. I just remember how powerful the lyrics and singing conviction had on me.

The softness left him as he got older. I guess maybe it was the drugs. Troubled man. Beautiful voice. RIP Marvin

By the way thats the Funk Brothers that are playing with him doing 'Whats Going On"with James Jamerson on bass, and Eddie"Bongo"Brown with him as well.

Charles Stevens Yes the Funk Brothers never really got the recognition that they deserve. They played most of the music behind those songs !!

No one can say BABY like him and SUGAR too it would melt any woman and he was sexy but he never was over the top because he was shy if you can believe it .
His speaking voice so soft who knew his vocal range and writer piano drums is there anything he couldn’t do ?? At least we have his
music and he knew things that are going on right now. I can imagine what he would say we will never know because his father murdered his son and got off easy
he lived 14 more years and got away with it . Shameful because of jealously.

R&B, Jazz, Rappers, Blues Singers today, they don't write songs about protests or worldly things going on. (Michael Jackson, Harold Melvin/ Teddy P. , Tupac, Q Tip/ Tribe C. Q. , Howlin Wolf, Billie Holiday, Donny Hathaway, Nina Simone ect....)
