What was it like growing up in the 1970s ? I'm writing a black American play about Black 🇺🇸 in the 1970s I named Sweet July so I want to add Afro sheen commercials for each scenes! I'm an 90s kid my mom was born in the late 1970s
Her hair was so thick and gorgeous!!! I wish we would embrace taking care of & sporting our own hair instead of all these lace fronts and Malaysian weaves. Our naturally, Textured, thick hair looks so much better on us.
If a black woman decides to change her change style and wants to wear weave or lace fronts, she can if that what’s she feels like doing, you don’t always get what you wish.
deva190 I remember those days. No one would say a damn thing about what kind of unit/sew in/Malaysian/Brazilian hair they got. They would smooth act like their hair grew 26 inches over night.
Those were the days. It took me decades before I knew what a blowout kit was. A low strength relaxer. We used Ultra Sheen more than Afro Sheen, but they were both part of our family hair care supplies. Best Black owned biz ads, too.
I love the first, second and third hairstlyes the second one is my favorite, having Kinky hair is beautiful. God made our hair unique from other Cultures. I was a little girl, during the seventies and I have always loved the 70s hairstlyes on the Sistahs. Our hair was so thick and full,it all began to change during those dreadful years of the 80s Jerry, California,Classy Curls and Relaxers self hating years. Our thick long hair was never the same and now in the 21st Century all we see are fake horse hair down their back, having no hair on the side of their head. I believe that the Youngins of today say having no edges. My Generation, huh we used to say our baby hair. I wished that I could have a Time Machine to go back to the 70s and embraced that moment of self love.
Actually it was black women that was wearing wigs back then,my grandma was one of them after trying to get a perm. Not saying I disagree cause most black women back there was wearing their natural hair more then today.I wear my natural hair but I straighten my hair with heat but it was black women that was wearing wigs back then
They need to bring these types of commercials back.
The self hating and racists would have an fit.
They need to bring Afro Sheen back.

It's beautiful seeing this beautiful, mature, loving black couple. So sexy & classy.
SHE GOT BARRRRRRRRRZ!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂
Right before Rappers Delight 😂😂
I miss this looking at black commercials growing up and watching them with my oldest baby this made me proud to be a black woman

Believe it or not there was a time, not so long ago, that women were ridiculed for wearing weaves.
If a black woman decides to change her change style and wants to wear weave or lace fronts, she can if that what’s she feels like doing, you don’t always get what you wish.
A revelation.

That corn row side ponytail was super cute 😍

That's the one I thought looked like Valerie Simpson on the video thumbnail.
I love the versatility of our hair
😂😂I memorized this WHOLE commercial and did it with foiled covered products for a class project!! The applause was very satisfying 😌
Haha that's awesome
Now that's style, baby.
I love the commercial and love how she uses all the products from the same line. Now that's what you call One stop shop.
Homeboy lookin' like "I wish this woman would make up her mind."
We've ALL been there , EVERY DAMN SATURDAY NIGHT 😩
She is beautiful

I liked the Afro the most. She was pretty.

Gorgeous hair, and I love the styles
I used to love the smell of afro sgeen
This was out of sight.
The cornroll & the look at the were my favorite.
That second style needs to come back
Outta sight! Can you dig it?
What a cute commercial lol
That was awesome
Right On!!!!
this is When natural left and relaxers were starring again
Yes, I saw how he popped up when that hair was relaxed...lol!
Jherri curls the relaxers
Beautiful
This was actually a 1 minute commercial!!!!...... how much would it cost to produce and air this now....
I think most prescription commercials last that long now. Rattling off all those side effects takes longer than 30 seconds.
Man those Afro Sheen commercials were far out!.....lol!
Classic.
We never had adverts like this on U.K. TV. Not even now do we have Afro products advertising
Darn shame i remember the words to this.
She uses Afro Sheen....she ain't no Jive Turkey.
JUST LET YOUR SOOOOOOOUL GLO! GET IT OH SO SILKY SMOOTH! JUST LET YOUR SOOOOOOOOOOUL GLO BABY
Are these videos available for free use? How can I find these videos to add into a short documentary or at least get permission to use them?
This is the year I was born 1978 October
My sista!!! Use the Sheen, keeping our hair Clean when we step out on the Scene if you know what I Mean...Right On Right On...
The thumbnail to this video looked like Valerie Simpson
I know this aired during Soul Train. Cool commercial, nonetheless.

The model with Mohammed Ali, is that Veronica?
I remember, back in the day, this old lady doing my hair and she said "Boy, your hair looks like sheep sh*t on a rocky mountain.": Afro Sheen
that woman's name? johnny cochran
What's there names?
Not sure about the guy but the woman’s name is Copper Cunningham
BACK WHEN BLACK WOMEN WERE NOT FAT. OVERWEIGHT AND MAD AS HELL😠
There is a reason why BW are like that. Black America doesn't care for BW
I preferred Soul-Glo.
4 different hair styles using our own hair???? That art is lost to the wiggy weaves.
This is classic black nostalgic hair history but also Cringy asf
Back when black women had there own hair no weaves
You beasts are pathetic.
Actually it was black women that was wearing wigs back then,my grandma was one of them after trying to get a perm. Not saying I disagree cause most black women back there was wearing their natural hair more then today.I wear my natural hair but I straighten my hair with heat but it was black women that was wearing wigs back then
So ignorant
