You have to watch the episode of River Monsters when Wade jumps in the water with crocodiles in just his briefs no shit at all no defense weapon and he gets right up to one touches it swims beside it and touches it many times. Now Wade said the only way he was able to accomplish this is he had to go when the water was colder and they are less active and aren't so aggressive or want to hunt when their blood is cooler as when the temperature of the water is very warm where he said there's no chance in hell he'd ever even think to jump in and swim with crocodiles because they'd most definitely attack and most likely kill him. @@stevelawson1388 yeah, lots of people have done it. Mostly wildlife photographers. Chris Gillette(I think his name is?) These are American Crocodiles. They are the only other species that tolerates prolonged exposure to salt water. I've heard one or two people use the phrase "American Saltwater Crocodile" to describe them but I've never seen any scientific source that used that term. Oddly enough, American Crocodiles are among the most placid crocodiles and even crocodilians overall. I'm not saying they're safe to interact with in the wild. But they tend to be shy and relatively less inclined to bite, especially compared to Salties, Niles and Cubans. So this was a WAY better choice than flying from New Zealand to Australia or trying this in his boyhood home in Africa

I don't know if it's because they feel safer there, or if they recognize that we are very slow and awkward underwater, or what, but you can get so much closer to animals, including predators, underwater than on land, to the point that if you behave calmly and respectfully, they will even approach you out of curiosity.
