The Hyundai i10 is now in its third generation and is more practical and sophisticated than ever before. Behind the redesigned bodywork is an impressive array of standard safety kit and more interior space than you’ll find in a Volkswagen up! or Citroen C1. It’s also cheap to run, with a pair of frugal petrol engines that can achieve over 50mpg. Here, we take a look at its best and worst bits.

Listing the cheap interior as negative is totally unfair giving how much car you get for the money as well as it is totally on bar with rivales in the same price group while putting petrol only engines is in that list is not reasonable giving the fact that an all electric powertrain to this type of vehicles will add another 10 thousand grand easily (just like the case with VW which went from 12k to 22k ) which simply not an option to somebody who shop in this category of cars that promise big bang for your buck,, and when it comes to the auto gearbox which is even though a bit slower to react (by nature or default) it is still among the better automated manual gearboxes out there.
It has a nicer interior than in most Nissan cars
It would still be fair actually. Worse plastics than any car feels like 90s eco car also the exterior looks like a toy.
And we had experiences of from other people that these cars tend to break brand new a lot and parts are so difficult definitely very unreliable to own.

Not sure where you get your information from.
Bought my i10 from new 2015 in the UK -- absolutely no problem with the car.
Excellent little vehicle.
It also scores highly in reliability surveys.
@@Wotsitorlabart good for you but still not better than Toyota. Not even better than VW lol
Well, this is the cheapest car of his category and the best at the same time. For this amount of money you can't get even the half of its equipment in any other car. Also since when is it bad to have an automatic gearbox ? If you don't like it, you can choose the manual one.
I don't think the reviewer here has actually driven a modern i10 auto. New auto box from 2014 probably the finest small car auto on the market. Who seriously would buy a manual box for city use? Sister car Kia Picanto goes electric 2021 and i10 in 2022 but the beauty of these cars is that you got a lot for very little. Electric models will lose that advantage.
I bought a 2018 i10 brand new and I am delighted with it, an electric alternative would have cost double, pointless for a low mileage motorist like me.
An electric option would be great when everything goes that way.
Very nice review in only 3 minutes 👍
No it's not sluggish if you choose it as automatic I find it handles quite well for small car being automatic I'd rate it 7 out of 10 if your looking for a small automatic car this is one to consider
Is it reliable? I'm looking at i10 automatic so any input would be highly appreciated
@@elfs31 hi good morning, Japanese cars have always been know for thier reliability, I only rented it for a week, but it had a nice feel and easy to handle. Brakes are quite sensitive and sharp fuel consumption is not bad overall a good automatic car choice. 7.5 out of 10 hope this helps :)
@@keithbacchus1840 thank you, it does. But isn't it Korean, not Japanese car?
@@elfs31 yeah your right it is
Looks like no disadvantages for what I am interested in
You do realize that people who go for cars like this couldn't care less about these so called "shortcomings" you've listed, right?
Haha, yes that's true. But still nice to know.
Nice video 👍. Did you think there will be an electric option in the future?
Anyone has the automatic version? Is it really a lot worse? And what automatic do you recommend?
I'm picking mine up in an automatic in 2 weeks time. So I will let you know. I currently have the the 2017 i10 manual.
@@RyanJohnsonsgtry85 Did you get it? How is the automatic gearbox?
charalambosnik yes I did, really enjoying the automatic.
I have the automatic and it's fine, a pleasure to drive and lots of acceleration. It's a really nippy car. I don't know why people are saying it's poor. You only get automatic with the 1.2 model, which I would recommend.
I really like the look of the i10 and might get this version next year, just one question the boot is not key only is it 🤔.
No. The boot release even has its own button on the smart key so you can open the boot without unlocking all the doors. It also locks automatically when you close it. I've just got my 2020 i10 and I love it!!!
what color is the one featured in the video! I love it!
What's the Euro NCAP safety rating of this car?
I think only 3 stars, but none of the small cars would get better !
Unlimited milage warranty over 5 yrs!
Yes, only if you keep it serviced at the expensive main agents, they told me my pads were 30% worn after 2000 miles, clearly not true.
NICE CAR
Honest question here, is there any car in this price range that doesn't have a cheap interior?
Kia picanto gt line
@@Randomguy-rh7rl Well, but that translates as the I - 10 N - line, since is the top of the line, and yes, the interior is rather sophisticated, although the plastics are not very friendly !
Terrible to start due to inbuilt safety device drives me mad
Is it just me, or is the European i10 different from the ones sold in Africa or some parts in Asia. In fact in my region the latest i10 is known as Grand i10. There is one that is a bit similar known as the Grand i10 Nios. I have to agree with the positives of the European i10, its the same as story here as well and 2 out of the three negatives are also true, however the i10 we have here we find that the automatic gearbox is fuel efficient and quite capable too. Though I would love to get the chance to drive a European i10 back to back with a Grand i10 to see how the auto gearbox differs.
And is slightly smaller, the european car !
What’s happened to James and Bach? Are they hiding from Corona ? Or have they left...
I’m here now
James and Batch? Same person ;)
@@batchreviews nice to read you - I am curious and left you a subscription
wait where is james
Its actually more efficient as amt so...
"Automatic transmission fron another car brand would be better", but which? Toyota's Multimode is terrible, Dacia has questionable and almost all other are way more expensive
I love my i10. Fabulous car 🚗
Automatic car are best and improvement, it is modern gear, driving manual car already backward is cheap gear
I particularly like the space that Is offed. I hope In the future that Hyundai will Introduce a electric version
they should do manual gear boxes for hybrid and electric
No gearbox in electric
@@kavanaghdarragh12 but they should, electric is like diesel. All torque at the bottom, but runs out at the top
Electric cars can’t have a clutch. Impossible.
@@DaveDVideoMaker 😆 Of course they can, they just don't have an engine to stall Electric Porsche 911 Fully Charged haha
Dumbaess, electric cars can’t have clutches or gearboxes. They’re not like internal combustion engines.
let's just state the obvious, i10 parked next to a Fiat 500 it's invisible and will stay invisible for a lot of people :)
Do you mean in terms of theft?
Beaty of I10
Pronounced Hyunday.
Auto box 'sluggish'?! It's dreadful, awful, the worst auto box I've ever driven. It lurches between changes, holds high gears, dangerous 1st to 2nd. The manual override is at least useful.
the visual design of this video............
Matiz 😱
Appalling review
Wow this new layout/narration sucks the life out of any joy 👎🏼
Second 😄
I had one as a hire car it was by far the worst car I’ve ever driven, felt like it was going to rattle apart on the motorway! Before anyone says anything at the time I had a 15 plate Ford Fiesta
uhhhh first.......... ahh why did i say that i hate people who do that
