Brother Calvin, obviously there will be bumps in the road but my love for my family, and the Philippines will overcome any obstacles. I’m leaving behind a loving family who don’t want me to leave but back me 100 per cent. My support group. I’m willing to sacrifice what it takes. I had the advantage of growing up in the hood, and it prepared me for life weather it’s good or bad. Physically, mind, body, and spirit, I believe I’m ready. I’m ready to learn. I’m ready for the successes and the setbacks that will happen. But after nearly 40 years in the po, and the hard work by lady, we have turned dreams to reality. Sir Calvin, I’m the richest man in the world and it has nothing to do with money. And as you, I will help the Philipino people in any way I can. It’s my honor to do so.
I keep telling people they can live and be happy in a tent. In fact, the less you have, and more mobile you are, the happier you will tend to be. The key is keeping the path clear of stones.
Speak for yourself. Some people could probably be happy living in a tent. But my guess is that 99 plus percent of us don’t want to, and prefer our happiness with a decent roof over our heads, and the nicer the better.

Calvin As always great video and a lot of good points, you brought up for people to think about before deciding to move to a foreign country. You know many of us are spoiled and use to having resources easily available, with that said it's not easy for most. I think it takes a special kind of person to enjoy life with less materialistic things compared to being spoiled. Life not always going to be easy but with the right attitude you can do anything you set your mind to. The real question at the end of the day is, what makes you happy. What do you need in life to be content? What is most important to you? Personally, my life was never fulfilling driving a fancy car living in a fancy house living the rat race until the end of your days only to pay off all the materialistic things that make many people happy. It's like at the end of the day no matter your success, what have you done in life accept for yourself. I would rather have less for myself and do more for others in order to help make this world a better place. I want to be appreciated and remembered for all the great things I have done for others in my life, it gives me peace of mind sort of speaking. Rather than to be remembered as a person of success that had never done anything for anyone except for themselves. The real question you should be asking yourself is, what is life really about and what is your purpose in life? My favorite quote: “I would rather die a meaningful death than live a meaningless life.” Thanks for the video Kuya and wish everyone a safe and wonderful year. God bless to all and spread acts of kindness and love

Calvin, it's a mindset, if one sets their mind to a lifestyle, the can/will live it. You are just one case in that point, look in your mirror and see your achievements. I'd think before one leaps they should look where they are leaping to, and it doesn't matter where in the world that is. Most men will travel to the Philippines for physical comfort, once found it might, and I use might loosely, it will become mental comfort. As said, 5 things are identified, should they be considered, you being in the ground with a perspective, I would say yes but there will be doubters who will use a different set of values, they might win/lose but your attitude is a great starting point to look at before taking that leap, good workers are hard to find, you are a good worker. In closing, you know the drill, it's open have a couple on the tab🍻🍻🍻 p.s. give one to your engineer, can't wait to see the finished product.

@@antoniohardaway6913 and yes I am talking about every state. From state to state the laws change only a bit. But the rest is always the same. One thing is living in a town where it might be a little good, but the second you step out of that place is all garbage. But you can't say there is actually a state that is good to live. There ain't any. That's why you always hear old folks say. This used to be such a nice place.
@@antoniohardaway6913 well, what can I say. Maybe younger people might see the US like lala land. But I'm about to hit 40. I call it quits. Is hard to find humble people around here anymore. That's just the way it is. In other words I'm tire of Disney World.
@@antoniohardaway6913 not as often, that's what I'm saying. I watch Philippines news. And in the Philippines is to specific areas. In the US is everywhere. And if you want to live good in the US you have to live in a rich area where no outsiders have access. The same with Puerto Rico, it happens is specific areas, not the whole land. In the US, people have abused the freedom of expression, freedom rights and every law to get away with crime to the point that a judge would let a murderer out in less than 5 years with good conduct. Like wtf.
Covid has put everything for me on hold for a year and a half. It feels like the world has been put on pause. My travelling has been stopped.
Wow thanks for that dose of reality
Calvin
As always great video and a lot of good points, you brought up for people to think about before deciding to move to a foreign country.
My favorite quote:
“I would rather die a meaningful death than live a meaningless life.”
Thanks for the video Kuya and wish everyone a safe and wonderful year.
God bless to all and spread acts of kindness and love
All good questions my friend!! Fortunately my time in the navy has left me the gift of adaptability plus the prior experience of having both visited and been stationed in many places both nationally and internationally. It can be an adventure!! Hahaha! Do what u can, with what u have, wherever u r,as u have decided in ur heart! The lord loves a cheerful giver!! Hahaha! Blessings!! :)
Wow Calvin, You have touch base on the very particularly exact action that needs to be taken into consideration. Again You've Given a great Guideline. Calvin keep up the Great Content its truly essential in helping potential Expats wanting to move to the Philippines. Brother Thank You Again🙏🏾🙏🏾
Good to hear a " straight shooter" mate ! No BS or flair !! Tks for one insight I neglected in my homework re my inevitable relocation , which incidentally is Valencia, Negros which is based on my numerous breif traveling in Phillipines ! Would love to catch up if possible or have time when finally relocate after all this crappy abates !Take care always Calvin ! Cheers ! ( Detlef. Yeppoon , Qld , Australia)
For me the number one question would be if you have a child/ children in the west … keep up the good work there 😎👍
Hello Calvin,, your right man, thanks for reminders, and patience, advice from a wise man, 🇺🇸❤️
Nice info. Your house is looking great. Peace Calvin.
Money is no problem to come over. I like smaller home without wall to wall furniture. I had 2 marriages first ended in divorce and 2nd wife got ill and died. I do not have friends just accquinces. My gf and I plan to rent for 6months to a year. Then see about about buying. My brother in Kansas is my backup.
Junior I start the conversation and hopefully someone can relate. Many of us are mature enough to make our own decisions, I make these vlogs to let people know that this is a whole new animal over here. We make it look easy but it takes some time to get to easy.
@@calroach1 my question is, what's up with the level of jealousy displayed, does the Filipina understand that this can be a deal-breaker with someone who is trying to develop a long-distance relationship, with your knowledge is think it would be a great vlog to address.
Thanks for your insight 🤠✌️
Great Video Calvin.
Building pensions and quality time.
Hello Calvin and lovely family
Thank you for sharing this great informative video, This is another fact video indeed.
Have a wonderful and blessed day/Ned 🌷🙌🌷
Hello Ned and thanks for your continued support! I’m struggling through a 12 hour brownout right now 😅
@@calroach1 🌴🏊🌴
I wanted to be the first hahahahaha.. now going to look 👀. From Miami Florida
I'm HVAC certified and would love to live there and contribute to wherever I'm living meaning that I'm 60 right now I'll be 60 April the 24th and this is 2022 and I still want to work but my concern is my SSI would that be enough for me to live comfortably in the Philippines and I'd still want to work.
Most men just go to
The Philippines only to find someone. That’s the bottom reason. It’s not because it’s cheap to live there.
Thanks for your feedback. What do you mean?
I'm Diabetic.Get nurse class 18 June Ft Knox Booth Camp.
I don't think your Engineer's license plate would last long in San Francisco.
Damn... Lol.
😅😅😅
I noticed that too lol
Lol literally saw your comment right as he pulled in.
Have a blessed safe and well day brother.
Thanks brother you too. Say hello to your beautiful wife for me.
Calvin, on the subject of being homesick and lonely at 14:50, you had arrived in a place where didn't know anybody, the language or much of anything else. what were the successful strategies you tried in building a new contact network? How do you strike a balance being open, outgoing and friendly vs. being too agressive, creepy and needy?
Don’t have any big requirements and you’re bold to assume I have any friends lol. What if I move when I’m younger. Like, below 30, as I’m planning to do in like, 7 to 10 years.
Thanks for yet another great video. I am planning to move to the Philippines within the next 2 years and find your advice so helpful. Currently i am living in Capetown South Africa, my home country. Here it is a rat race just like in the States or Europe and i am fed-up to the brim. Looking so much forward to a change of life! Keep up the great channel!
Calvin I meet you .I want to live in Community .First Month Subic Bay .
I wanna live REALLY WELL, quite very nicely actually (not extremely extravagant)...BUT NOT have to pay for it.... those 2 don't equate... bargain shopping & wisely shopping...= is the key (& in the right areas)

I'm 62..I've got $110,000USD and I get $1,400 month for life if I live a single life in no children or wife/gf you don't think I could financially make it in PI?
All excellent questions, that together, supports the ultimate question: does the pleasure I’ll feel in the Philippines out weight the pain I feel here enough for me to stay there? “He who has a Why to live for can bear with almost any How” Friedrich Nietzsche, philosopher
respectfully, your street is a muddy cart track through a field - doesn't seem sufficient
🤣🤣🤣 one of the sacrifices brother. You are the only one who mentioned that. I was hoping more would.
Great advice. 👍
damn not much to think about. do I have internet ...check. will I have food in the refrig....check... will I have a roof over my head....check. I'M READY. Moved to 3 different states in the past 20 yrs. so what's 1 more. thanks for the video. I will burn the boat when I land. this will work, there's no going back. (to what)
One thing all these people in there videos don't tell you if your like me and wear 2X t-shirts and wear size 12 shoes or larger ..truth is you will have a hard time finding these sizes ..there XL t-shirts are really L by American standards and there shoes or sandals usually size 11 so my advise is bring plenty of your t-shirts and shoes or sandals ..true story my Filipina neaghbor is fat she took a vacation in Philippines and didn't bring enough clothes they went shopping for clothes and could NOT find clothes her size she had to buy maturnity cloths to wear..only ones that would fit her
I've talked about it many times in my videos and livestreams. Balikbayan boxes are a great way to solve that problem. Also Amazon delivers here now. Thanks.
Great video that place looks very clean. Beautiful day there. What does it cost to build a house like that. Hope to meet you when I'm there. Keep safe
thankyou
I wish there was more info on how people make a living over there or just made enough money to move on. And what’s enough 50,000 100,000 U.S. dollars I’m 58 family are supporting me my only daughter tells me dad you talk about it go 90 days see how you like it.
Question is 90 days considered long term on finding rental place . Just confused will have back pack and 1 large suitcases where to put stuff when looking around ?
A lot of places rent month to month.
What area are you in Calvin and are you still there or did you have to leave ? I think if you truly know the Lord you can live anywhere.
Great video, Calvin. Btw I've lived in California for the last 40 years, but my family and friends are in Ohio and NYC. In fact, I'm originally from Cincinnati. And, NO, before you ask, I'm a Dodgers, Rams, and Chargers fan all the way! LOL My family and friends, especially my friends, who I talk to the most, are all over the place (mostly in the West). We mostly communicate by phone. I'm not challenging you, but don't you think it would be easier now with social media and technology in general to not be so disconnected? Also, do they have AA where you live? Do you like the meetings there? If I'm breaking your anonymity, please delete this post and message me. Can you understand them? I've been taking Tagalog on Skype, but I wonder. I'm on a relapse right now, but I still call my sponsor every couple of days. However, I've been planning this move since looong before COVID. I don't want to be one of those expats who sits in the bar all day everyday. I just wanted to be honest because I've been watching you for a while and I think I can trust you, Calvin. Thank you.
Hello Kendal there are meeting in Dumaguete City and I believe you told me there are some in Bacolod City. Presently there are none in San Carlos City. The meetings in Dumaguete are in English and attended by mostly foreigners. Thanks.
@@calroach1 thank you. My sponsor is fully supportive of me wanting to move there, but he wants me to get my shit together first . And, I don’t mean that one year thing either. He knows I’ve been planning this for a long time. We’ve agreed to meet regularly by Skype. I REALLY appreciate your help. Are you still moving back to the states? If it were me, I’d do whatever I could to stay there. It’s bad here. Just my two cents. Thank you again. I value your advice.
Brother Calvin. I know an American man whose wife is cheating on him because he is old, he is 76. And she only stays with him because of his money. His wife is 42 years old. And they live in the Philippines.
Everybody knows she is cheating on him and nobody tells him.
Brother that made me sick.
Good morning brother Calvin
Good evening Darrell!
Greetings Calvin
Good video.
great vid
Love your topics question do you still work from the philippines? You and the dive guy not sure to say someone Chanel on here. But he and you said 1200 a month is enough to live on in the philippines. Others say I’d have to eat fish head soup. On that amount. I keep thinking your area or dumagett area. I just want to be close to beach. And a hospital close for emergency I’m your age . I have a house just need to decide to sell or rent it. Still have a mortgage on it but can get a big nest egg . Just need the push any suggestions lol
I'm retired but I have subscribers who work for their foreign companies remotely from here.C

Thanks brother I am experiencing it now. Glad I have a load on my phone 😅
by the way your demeanor with the engineer and workers was spot on. many would ask why you did not approach them and demand answers on the house build. RESPECT. you really have with the years of your experience

Never mind it popped up now. Facebook is ridiculous I'm telling you they are damn control freaks hahah
I don’t think folks with mental health issues that can manifests itself can make it, especially folks with ocd,, schizo-affective disorders, and anxiety issues. That kiwi guy had a serious obsession with that right a way issues involving a road going through a house. He complained too much so the higher ups pinoys needed to silence him for good sadly…
