You made a deeper string slots on the nut to lower the string height. Now the string are inside the deep slots which could not freely vibrate to produce a good sound. I suggests to reduce the top of the nut with the use of fine file to expose the strings above the slots.
Here's a few very useful TIPS: ......always ALWAYS set your neck relief ( truss rod adjustment ) BEFORE filing/adjusting nut slots for string height. If a neck needs more relief ( too much "bow" in the neck, resulting in the strings being too high ) always ALWAYS loosen all 6 strings before adjusting the truss rod to straighten the neck, because the truss rod would be fighting strings that are tuned to pitch. With the strings loosened well below any musical pitch, the truss rod can move the neck much easier. ( If the neck is too straight or has "back bow" and needs more "bow", loosening the strings is not necessary, because the strings will actually help the truss rod to pull more "bow" in the neck. If the truss rod adjustment is located inside the guitar body, you should at least loosen the D and G string, to allow room for the truss rod adjustment tool to operate. ) After ya have the neck adjusted properly, and with strings tuned to pitch, a great rule of thumb for good easy playing string height at the nut is to use a feeler gauge between each string on the 1st fret. Set the height of all 6 strings ( open strings, no capo or pressing each string down with your finger is necessary with this tried & true method ) over the 1st fret at 18 THOUSANDTHS of an inch using a feeler gauge or multiple feeler gauges that equal 18 thousandths of an inch. Some guitar manufacturers suggest "different string heights for each string over the 1st fret", but this is totally unnecessary, providing the frets are all level and the neck is properly adjusted first. 18 thousandths of an inch clearance over the 1st fret for all 6 strings provides a really nice action for most acoustic guitars. Many professional luthiers use this method/formula when setting up the action on acoustic guitars when filling & re-filing nut slots.
Hi po sir edwin, may tips po ba kayo para maging smooth yung strings ko? tuwing i pupluck ko kasi yung string ko parang magaspang sa daliri. Bago pa namn yung string :/
ok and on my acoustic maton, the height at 12.fret is 1,6 and 1,2 mm and I can hear buzzing on the B string at first 3 frets once its hit harder... what to do ? shim the nut or polish the frets ?
And if the neck and nut are fine you might wanna shim your saddle too. That's pretty low. I usually keep my low e around 7/64 to 3/32 and roughly 5/64 on my high e. Just depends on playing style too. I play bluegrass and never had buzz with that action and hard flatpicking leads
I know I had a blueridge that someone had replace the nut on a didn't do a very good job of filing and turned out to be they didn't put enough angle on the backside of the nut so the string was sitting pretty flat and causing it to buzz real. I feeled it and refiled and put that angle on it and it fixed it also
*DISCLAIMER* -- Make absolutely certain that you wear eye protection when working with real bone. If you get bone dust in your eye, it will be a bad week of trying to wash it out. Also bone powder or dust when mixed with water, turns into glue. You will be rinsing glue out your eyes for days. It was a miserable week for me. Wear eye protection or else you will suffer terribly. 👁️

@@Edwin-E Apologies if seemed a bit cranky there. I remember once playing bass for a group and there was a girl in front of me with guitar that had uncut strings projecting outward. She was bouncing around to the music and I was scared that one of the string ends would poke me in the eye. During the session I saw one of the string ends go through the mesh of a microphone. Don't know if it got to the diaphragm. It didn't help that while she was swinging the guitar neck up and down, it would cycle in front of the sheet that I was trying to read. Thanks for the video.

the nut file you are using the one that worked for you is that Hosco ? Can you please let me know exact name and gauge ?
They are Stewmac nut files. I include a link in the video description for your review.

Which is better feels?. Cort AD810e or Yamaha F310?

make sure that the neck is straight and not bowed outward. I suspect that the truss rod is too tight.

Why you didn't cut the dangling strings right away?
I normally cut the strings right away.
Anong tawag po s pile? At san nakakabili po? Tnks
nut file. Marami sellers online.
So pwede po sya ilagay?
@@jpalbiar17 hindi ko pa na-try kaya wala akong experience.
llow po aram ko po nagawa niyo na po ang pull off tas hammer pero paano po e hammer ang ganitoh po "0h2" tas
"0 2 h0" po
0h2 klabit sa open strings then hammer on sa 2nd fret. Di ko alam yung isa.
First, you need to cut the extra strings that are sticking out from your machinehead before it pokes you in the eye.
thanks for the feedback!
cut those strings before you poke your eye out 😊
thanks for the feedback
Hopefully in you next video you show us how to trim your strings. They look hideous just hanging out like that. Cut off the excess. Please.
Noted! Thanks for watching!
I knew the best way is sand it from below...
I have a video doing that as well. Here it is ua-cam.com/video/8Vk2kjXX2aA/v-deo.html
