For a pick , no . That said , this bottle isn't what it use to be . Hopefully you got an older pick . Lux Row is using their own distillate now . It good , but not the great stuff that was in the bottle that I reviewed .
I stumbled on this video, and on your recommendation I tried this Ezra Brooks 107 - wow!! This is probably my favorite bourbon in this price range. I was blown away! Thank you!
i just paid 45 bux for a Virginia ABC pick of this, when i got home and looked online for prices i see most are 35 and 40 tops. do you think i should take this bottle back and get my money back?
the tennessee whiskey's that use 'sugar maple charcoal' are the ones like JD, Dickel, etc, that all taste the same from the sugar maple mellowing process.
Glad I read the comments where you pointed out the source has changed. With old Ezra being one of my top 5 overall favorites, Picked up a bottle of this with high hopes about a week ago and was very underwhelmed. Most reviews I read were a few years old and raved about this stuff. I was wondering why I didn't agree with many reviewers I typically align with. I feel better, and a little disappointed, that this is a different bourbon. Oh well, at least the bottle looks cool! lol
Should be noted that this review is from when Lux Row was sourcing from Heaven Hill . The new bottles are Lux Row's own distillate and it isn't as good . Still a decent bottle , but nothing like the Heaven Hill stuff .
I can't speak to this E.B. Distiller's bottle, but I got an Ezra Brooks 99 that became one of my favorites recently. Not much for identifying notes, but I simply like the taste on the E.Z. B. 99. Would recommend it. Was my first Lux Row product. I definitely like bottles around the $30-35 dollar range and 100 or slightly higher proof. The E.Z. B. 99 is a good dram!
So I really love my bottle . I do think however that they are in the process of changing over distillate to their own , rather than sourcing from Heaven Hill . Pretty sure my bottle is Heaven Hill , not sure the new ones are. Cheers brother 🥃
Seems like a pretty good deal for the price, I hope Spec's does a pick too,... I'll be on the lookout for one. Lux Row was sourcing bourbon from a couple of different distilleries before they were bought out by MGP,... mainly Heaven Hill and Barton/1792,.... I think. I was out of town and missed the live stream this past weekend,.. but I'll see y'all this Saturday.
Well Woods , I just want to say thank you for becoming my first Patreon . Means a lot , very much appreciated . As for the bottle , I think it is great , especially for the price point . I hope they continue with this flavor profile even after the buy out .
@@WhiskeyWars You're welcome, Sean. I like the videos and really enjoy the weekly live stream. I really like the more "working class" type vibe that this channel has compared to most whiskey channels. There's usually dirt under my fingernails and I am not ashamed of it. I created a Patreon account just to chip in a little bit. I know it's not much, but hopefully I am only the first of many.
@@StillLivinginthewoods - Well thanks again man , it's really appreciated . I completely agree , some dirt under your fingernails , usually means you did something worth while that day .
This bottle that I reviewed is far better than 101 . However the bottle in the review was from when Lux Row was still sourcing from Heaven Hill . The new bottling is their own stuff and it isn't as good . Still a decent bottle , but not what it was .
So what is everyone else's experience with this bottle been like ? Let us know 👇👇

It is very good . Especially the older bottlings , when Lux Row was sourcing from Heaven Hill . They need ones are great too though . Cheers 🥃

I have been passing on this, maybe ill have to give it a try

Yeah , I would say this is just a step up from the EB 99 . The 8 more proof adds a little more complexity and some really bold dark notes .
@@WhiskeyWars,
Just checked my local Total Wine. Ezra Brooks 99 is $21. Ezra Brooks Distiller's Collection is $49.
I've got a bottle from '18, is this prior to the change?
It is prior to the change in distillate and in my opinion the older stuff is better . Of course it should be . They were sourcing from Heaven Hill 🥃
I saw this at TW this week and it was $42 and definitely one I might pick up. Great video and cheers Sean🥃

@@WhiskeyWars Good to note, Sean!🥃
Been passing by this one on some shelves recently. Might have to try one soon!
I really enjoy it obviously . Probably in my top 5 favorite bottles around 30 bucks .

I get vanilla and cantaloupe on the nose. Spicy surprise like a high rye on the tongue.
I think this is a great bourbon for the price for sure .
This vs Turkey 101.

This evenings pour.
It's a very good one . Cheers 🥃
