Does it do Rock & Metal ? This being the 12AX7 preamp, can't be any worse than a Joyo Bantamp or Orange's Micro/Micro Dark amp heads that are 12AX7 tube preamps with solid state amplifier section ? Pedal goes into a solid state amp and pedal provides preamp portion using the solid state amplifier to drive the woofer ?
@@Chrisdava Thanks for the info, love the surf rock style you play in this video, especially the Chris Isaak, Blue Hotel on the Jag/Jazz Master/Mustang offset with P90's is an awesome rendition. I have an Epiphone LP that has P90's. Inspiring, I may commit to give it a go, but I need to modify that one with a Bigsby to get the Vibrato. I did find a review, 6:55 of this video and he seems to eventually be able to achieve High Gain with it by the time he gets towards the end of the demo, but he's also running it into a Hughes & Kettner on the crunchy channel. So the amp helped him get the pedal there. ua-cam.com/video/OTYFp7hT-ks/v-deo.html
I had to subscribe! Quite impressive! Not showy, but you get the job done and it's done really well, too. You ought to mention on your page what your musical background is. How long you've been playing? Do you play in a band? Just enjoy music on your own? That sort of info. Sounds great!
Oh thank you so much ! Your comment is just one of the best I've ever had... That's great to read that. So I think you deserved to know some things about me if you want ! I'm playing electric guitar for more than 30 years now ! A very old passion now... I think that the day when a good friend of mine plugged the first pedal I've ever seen and heard (it was a Korg CHR-1 Chorus) was one of best days of my life ! As you saw in this video, I'm still buying and plugging pedals... I'm not playing in a band because, unfortunately, I don't have much time for music in a week... I want to keep this time for my UA-cam channel. It's a very small channel but I love it. Once again, thank you so much for your nice comment and your interest.
What is the amp? A pedal into tube amp demo does me no good. For various reasons i'm not able to have a tube amp. I am looking for a pedal to use with a s.s. amp that will get something like a tube blues sound. I don't want to buy a Katana and go into the p.c. program and everything. Just plug and play. Your demo and playing was excellent!
First, thanks for your comment about demo & playing. I think I've used a Fender Champion 600 5W tube amp for this demo, unfortunately for you. But it delivers a clean and very neutral sound (especially with the unique gain/volume knob at less than a half) so that you exactly hear the sound of each pedal.
@@b.j.thomas8606 I understand. I think that the Hot Tubes will deliver you an interesting sound in many configurations. But maybe you should have a look to little 5W tube amps with power attenuator or also 1W tube amps : it can be a good thing for you.
@@b.j.thomas8606 Palmer and Blackstar are proposing a 1W tube amp (head for Palmer & combo for Blackstar). Harley Benton is proposing a 5W tube amp with 1W power attenuator.
Thanks ! The original "Hot tubes" had real tubes inside (we could even say "outside" in fact). Then there was a transistors version in a big enclosure and this nano version is the same, located in a pedalboard friendly box. This "Hot tubes" is a good pedal but I think that I prefer the "Tube pilot" because it produces a really "rough" sound and is easier to settle.
@@miguelscserra hmm it depends on the type of metal you're referring too, I find the hot tubes to sound great for doom/stoner metal tones as it's quite fuzzy sounding. Not sure on the glove but from what I've heard, it has a more straight up distortion tone, and lead tones sound crisper on it. the hot tubes definitely has a warmer vintage feel to it. I usually play styles like Black Sabbath, dinosaur Jr, Ty segall etc. I find it works great for this kind of stuff.
Nice playing. Thanks for the demo sir
Cool comment ! Thank you so much !!
Well played, once again, Chris! They both sound fine to me.

It does rock but not metal.

@@jimcamp2423 Of course the amp is important and the Tube Pilot is able to boost the gain. Thanks for your comment.

AWESOME MY FRIEND !! GREAT PLAYING :):)
That's fine ! Thank you so much my friend !
Very similar.
The hot tubes Is More Shining, did you turn off the tone knob ?
The tone control is on...
Maybe the Best option could be turn off the tone, this way the vs Will be fair
Yes, why not ?
I prefer Hot Tubes :)

my wife works at home so no loud tube amps. my "theory" was to possibly use a Hot Tubes pedal with a S S. amp. as a sort of compromise.

@@Chrisdava old comment but the hot tubes with actual tubes was the second version, the first was the big enclosure one
