I think thats what comes with turning a children's cartoon into an adult live action, it's defs trying to take on the darker tone of shows like teen wolf, shadow hunters or tvd. I actually don't mind it but I think I'm of the unpopular opinion... But like the way I see it if you miss all the colour and crazy magical fashion then theres still the animated series, I think us old fans of the cartoon need to give Fate the room to be it's own entity without constant comparison otherwise it'll never feel good enough. :)
The only scene we got that was somewhat magical and colorful and reminiscent of the og show was the formal dinner scene with the butterflies
It was also filmed in Ireland. Ireland gets a lot of rain and wind.

Winx club was litreally feminine show with birght colours, glitters, full of magic and futuristic aesthetics and many iconic fashions, You can't just turn it into gloomy dark show that calls themselves "mature" show
@Sander Herfindal Whole point and aesthetic of Winx club is that it was colorful and futuristic, there's other shows that has much more darker story and tone than this "fAte sAGa" BUT.THEY'RE.NOT.AFRAID.OF.COLOURS
They shouldn't have chosen Winx club to make this bs because Winx was Very Feminine show with so Many bright colors, sparkles, magic, futurism, glitter but it still had dark story and amazing plot (season 2 and 3 specifically)
I feel like they missed the whole point of Winx club by trying to make it too dark and edgy. The show already dealt with a lot of dark problems but still made it bright and hopeful. With cute outfits and good friends. Not friends who steal your man 😒.

I think my problem with this show, and the problem that I had with it in s1 is that they aren't given enough episodes and it's ODD! Like Netflix on average gives shows 8-10 episodes per season but for some reason gave Winx 6 and then 7 episodes. Like it's a FANTASY show with it's own world-building, it is IMPOSSIBLE to even scratch the surface with the plot even with 45 minute episodes. The writers are clearly not capable of handling that many characters and offering them their own storylines and connecting them back into the overarching plot and it is OBVIOUS.
I think giving them more episodes per season would solve a lot of problems and give the writers some breathing room to actually take the time to elaborate on some things.

To be honest, I thought that situation with Stella being caught by Beatrix spying and she said that she was spying on Sky was only a lie to cover up the real reason why she was spying. Since other than that there was no other interaction of her and Sky.
Wasn’t Stella spying on Beatrix and the father, for the girls?
We really slept on Riven this season. I feel homeboy got the most character development this time. He was the only one to know of Musa's actions and kept quiet about it but didn't become this puppy who followed and tried to baby her around either. H leveled with her and was honest to her about stuff. He also knew how Silva broke out but didn't give it up to Rosalind even after she tortured them. I'm liking this and if they do set Musa and Riven up like in the OG show I am IN for this ship next season even though I never liked their ship in the OG show.
I just don't like how at the end Bloom was so upset thinking Sky died but then she still sacrificed herself into that portal thing. Like did she not think about how he would feel the same pain she felt when it was the other way around?
While I liked Terra coming out to Flora, and her instant acceptance, her later coming out to the entire group was less endearing, in my opinion. If it hadn't been in the middle of them trying to restore Musa's powers, and feeling like Terra was hogging attention, then perhaps it would have worked better.
I agree with you there. And if we're being honest, Terra is so sweet that she probably would have held off on telling them since they were in the midst of Musa's issue...perhaps she would have even psyched herself up about it, which could have led to some interesting conflict and tension. I do love the way they rallied around her. Terra deserves love.
It felt weirdly tone deaf of the screenwriters. They failed to adequately address Terra's coming out in the context of Musa's situation. Terra's coming out, as an emotional breakthrough, could have resonated really well with Musa now no longer had other people's emotions forced on her. Musa's power forced her to empathize with others to an unhealthy degree but with or without powers, no one could empathize with Musa's situation.They just can't relate to her experience of being emotionally overwhelmed by her own power because they use their own emotions to empower themselves. Terra's coming out, like all the girls' expectations that Musa wants her power back, present an additional emotional burden on Musa that goes to show how oblivious they are to her struggles considering she lost her boyfriend after using her power to emotionally manipulate him and recently suffered through a psychic and physical attack caused by her powers.

1. They hadn't started yet. Musa wasn't even aware of what was about to happen.
2. You've fundamentally misunderstood the entire point of the scene. This scene was to show how far the girls had grown, both in their powers and in their friendship. They needed to be as open as possible. How could Terra truly consider herself to be open if she was hiding such a huge revelation. In my opinion I think that's why the convergence failed the first time. Musa wasn't open and honest even though she claimed to be.
The weirdest thing to me was how in the final "battle" everyone was just standing around and nobody was moving an inch
And they learned the transformations offscreen ? There could have been such a good training moment 😭
I actually ended up disliking Bloom less this season. She wasn't as selfish as she was in Season 1. I'm glad Aisha got her own storyline, but they still could have done better. I loved Terra's storyline with her coming out and feeling threatened by Flora's arrival. I want Stella to be happy. Same with Beatrix and Musa.

I guess I just don't understand the mechanics of their abilities. Why are Musa's powers always on? She doesn't appear to need to channel to hear other people's thoughts. The other fairies aren't constantly manipulating their elements. It just seems inconsistent to me.

She is way more powerful than she thought. Let’s put it this way when the blood witch stole her abilities it was Musa’s ability that allowed him to manipulate the Specialists at such far ranges
She definitely does channel, her power just don’t really manifest physically. Also sometimes Fairies eyes don’t shift colour when they are channeling.
She never learned to control it. As opposed to learning how to shut out the world she would drown it out with music. When she's channeling she can get the information she wants, but she just passively hears the people around her all the time

Girl why is aisha getting trashed again, the one thing I got pissed. In the OG show all the other girls had a set boyfriend. But Aisha, no when she gets a boyfriend the first one dies real quick and the second ones evil. Like Why?!
Honestly, we have to all agree that season 2 was definitely an improvement from season 1. The plot, the clothes, the colors and powers were much more interesting and engaging. Could they continue to improve? Absolutely! I'm really glad they are taking community input and incorporating it into the show. Hope this gets a s3 with more characters too!
I'm waiting for an edgy live action of Tinkerbell where the fairies are a bunch of supernatural exotic dancers who attract customers inside the club to eat them. But one day, Tinkerbell befriends a human Wendy and she has to choose between her family and her new friend.
The cult scene would be Vidia (played by Elizabeth Gillies) seeing Tinkerbell kissing a guy named Peter as she was about to reveal that she was in love with Tinkerbell. Vidia would then cry in an empty street while the scene cuts with bits of her slaying humans while "Don't Blame Me" by Taylor Swift plays in the background.

I was so disappointed when bloom got an gorgeous dress at the event and all the others looked awful. Floras dress wasn’t that bad but compared to bloom it was nothing special. The show runners should give the other characters more love or they can rename it to the bloom show

I don't think Stella was into Sky romantically anymore. She lied to Beatrix to cover for the true reason she was there being invisible, but that was to keep her in the dark. She sticks up for him because you can tell they still care about each other, but at no point did I think Stella still had romantic feelings for him this season.
bloom being annoying and impulsive is actually very on brand for her character, she's just like that on the original animated show
it’s interesting to hear your thoughts on terra bc she was the one who irritated me the most this season lol i kinda feel like the writers made her the gay one of the group so one, fans would forget she originally was the whitewashed version of flora and two, so her character could stay especially now that they included flora but tbh her character’s quite pointless imo
Gotta be honest... the easter eggs and the OG cartoon's references are probably the fewest things that make me keep watching this show. When Season 1 ended, I was excited to find out that Bloom was the guardian of the Dragon Flame and not a common fire fairy... but then in Season 2 they managed the whole Dragon Flame thing shitly. Now we know there will be the Trix, so yeah, Trix are the only reason I'll watch the next season, if they ever confirm it. So curious to see who they'll cast to play Icy and Darcy. Anyways, I still think it is a mediocre TV series, it could have been so much cooler with a higher budget and better writing.
I can’t believe they did valtors character like I know it’s adaptation but I miss the sexy vampire vibes from the og. Don’t get me started on how they made Aisha from a rich family instead of being a princess

@@peacearobieke I’m pretty sure they “killed” her off only so that’s she’ll be resurrected by Lord Darkar and reunited with her sisters (Darcy and Icy). I was confused at first too, especially how they killed her after basically forming a friendship between her and Stella but I’m sure they did that so when Beatrix joins her sisters and goes dark, it would be harder for Stella to want to fight her
Considering the actress said goodbye to the show I would say she is dead

as someone who grew up with the original animated series im just so disappointed by the way they handled the folklore of the show like, the original story is already so rich and interesting! the plot was already there, all they had to do was add a mature dialogue. i dont understand why they changed so much, made it all so less interesting. and im not even talking about the costume design/art direction choices bc i know they wanted to be different from the original and at least this season they improved a lot on the clothing department lol

i think sky could be a good character if they just spent more time focusing on his struggles and backstory rather than making out with bloom. Like I get it, the actors are dating, it's cute, but do we really need that many love scenes when the show is only 7 episodes?? I was waiting for him and andreas to have a real talk or him to really fight beatrix or properly deal with his daddy issues, but nah let's have a scene where him and bloom go horseback riding 😭

I still can't believe this show got a 2nd season. And then Netflix doesn't know why it's losing money. I'm glad it's gotten better for everyone that actually watches but I really don't think it merited being continued considering Netflix struggles.

Unpopular opinion: there should’ve been another element, cosmic. Where fairies can either be Time fairies, Reality fairies, and Space fairies.
The new transformations aren’t good, but at least they look better than Bloom’s did.
Weird that it took a second season to realize it looks better to rotate the camera rather than spinning the actors 😂

Can we talk about how Stella was a shitty friend to Beatrix the entire season. Especially when she was attempting to help Musa get her powers back but never told Beatrix this and she was lost without her powers.
Can we talk about how they had a pretty good reason not to trust Beatrix after everything she’d done to them, being ratty little pet of Rosalind. Of course Stella doubted in the friendship, in her trustworthiness. It’s obvious. Stella was not a shitty friend. She was careful with someone who used to do a lot of bad stuff.
Let's talk about!!!! Talking about "you had me" no she didn't. Please. Stella only talk to her when she feels like she can't talk to her actual friends. Like I am sorry, the scraps of affection weren't enough for Beatrix especially since her father died.
@@mariettthhh Stella is 100% within her right to be cautious, but that did make her a shitty friend to Beatrix. Two things can be true. Stella is within her right to maintain distance while she build trust, but that doesn't feel great to the person on the receiving end.
@@birdiewolf3497 let’s not forget that Beatrix betrayed Stella by telling Rosalind and “doing everything to survive”. I don’t blame her, she really had to do some things just to stay at Alfea, but from Stella’s view, it was a betrayal and it was nasty. So if Stella was a bad friend (which she is not) then Beatrix is as well.
I definitely think this season was an improvement because you can tell they listened to some of the critique fans gave the first season. So I’m hopefully season 3 will only do the same. Biggest critiques again are costumes- like please please have them transform like they did in the animated show 😂. Next one for me is also pacing- that ending was way too rushed and parts didn’t make sense. Overall though I was entertained

Season 1 was so bad it was funny. Season 2 is better, but still so mediocre that it's boring. I remember all the stuff about season 1 that sucked, all the criticisms people had about it... Season 2 so pointedly addressed every single one of those points that it ground the entire story to a halt so you could HEAR the screenwriters speaking through the characters like they were megaphones, taking each and every criticism and saying "WeLl, AcTuAlLy." It was the epitome of telling instead of showing. Subtext? We don't know her! They also made every single significant plot development from the previous season pointless by eradicating all the stakes attached to their outcomes... even as they redid the same freakin plotlines to the same ends which of course means there's no emotional investment since WE'VE BEEN THROUGH THIS BEFORE. Then to make it worse, they took a fan-favourite character and wrote it off the show.

I somehow enjoyed this season a lot more then season 1. It’s flawed of course, but I had more fun with it! It was chaotic and magical, and I love hate the characters but I appreciate that. It keeps it interesting.

At the end you see that dark figure lingering around her grave, the figure that they spoke about earlier who can bring people back, so I wouldn’t be surprised if beatrix is back next season

I didn’t care for Terra’s storyline at all for the entire series. I feel like when it comes to plus size women writers always lean on the “weak, insecure and pushover but she’s super SMART”storyline . Plus sized women live normal lives too and I wish they would’ve portrayed her in a way that resembled that. I consider it lazy writing. For example I loved what Euphoria did with Kat valentine (Season 1 lol). She had character , a LIFE, a personality, a hobby and didn’t need to beg her friends for attention. Terra coming out just added to this weird push for making her “different and quirky” they could’ve made Stella gay, that would’ve made more sense. Terra deserved better

I think at this point the show creators have just taken Fate in a completely different creative direction compared to the original Winx. That's not necessarily a bad thing but I just really don't want to be watching a Riverdale 2.0. So I probably won't watch season 3 :/

I’m so sick that this was the better season & it got canceled, but I’m also not mad or surprised bc this should’ve just been it’s own show & not attached to Winx Club as a whole bc this was legit in name only. But I’m happy they improved on the last season & gave us something at least watchable & intriguing.
My bf and I just started watching Sabrina on Netflix, I forced him to watch Winx with me (both times the seasons were released), not him saying halfway through Sabrina, Part 1 ... "This is better than Winx" 😂😂😂 and not me agreeing 😂

Why on earth would it be okay to just someone from East Asia and call it a day, if it can be accurate then it should be. And what's with all the full blood stuff? I also understand the need for representation since I'm sick to death of light skinned black actors having to represent all black people.

My only thing is “let mixes identity as what they are (mixes) and only represent who they are when it comes to race (mixes)”. Simple as that. “What’s with all the full blood stuff?” You know exactly what I mean with that. Biracials are being referred to as half bloods in this scenario because both halves of their genes are 2 different ethnicities so I having them represent a single ethnicity which they’re half of makes no sense.

The final episode was trash but I could see them setting up revival magic and also Beatrice being her sister. It needed to be canceled though
I don't quite understand the hate Bloom gets, it's not that bad in my opinion. She was right about trusting Rosalind, because they really were wrong about her in episode 3, she was convincing everyone that Beatrix trap was indeed trap, she helped Sky, she put Musa in front of her own needs with Sebastian, etc. Of course she would feel and act the way she did, as a 16 year old who just found out she is the strongest fucking military weapon currently existing. People tend to forgive Musa this same shit, her being straight up rude to people, and doing whatever she really feels is right. She thinks she can become specialist overnight, she doesn't want to deal with stuff, she is rude to Terra, she is lying to Terra about Sam, she is taking away people's anger without their permission etc., but I don't see anyone giving her 'main character hate' that Bloom gets. Overall, I think all of the Winx are flawed, but that is what makes them interesting and lovable.
The difference to me is that Bloom is written as flawed, but Musa is coded as chronically mentally ill. Doesn't mean either deserve hate, but their struggles are just different.

I actually think its the opposite of what you're saying. the things that musa did were wrong and she was called out for it in both situations. In the sam situation, yes it was wrong but she did it to try help but yeah the specialist thing was kind of rude and arrogant. however I feel like everyone just forgave bloom so easily about setting Rosalind, a fairy that was literally trapped in a prison so obviously she was dangerous, free just because she wanted answers about her family. I'm not saying she's a horrible person for that but I'm just saying, what bloom did and what musa did was not even on the same level of bad in my opinion.

As someone who grew up with the Winx animated show, but is also not a crazy fan of it, the show was alright and I enjoyed it for the time-being. I tried to see it as something unrelated to the animated version because I knew that the showrunners will obviously never include actual events in it, so it allowed me to not be biased.
For me, Season 2 was a mediocre upgrade, meaning that it was definitely an upgrade but not a very good one. The Blood Witches were so boring to me and I just couldn't give a single shit about what their story was. I haven't watched the OGWinx in a while so I don't know if Blood Witches are apart of the show, but it felt like a plot point forced into the story just to serve as a source of conflict.
Rosalind's entire arc was boring as well, nonetheless, she intrigued me enough to be the main villain. I was fucking pissed when she was killed off while her world domination arc was literally just revealing, like wtf. The showrunners hyped up this villain so much and yet killed her off as if she was nothing. Not only that, I hated the "Is she bad, or is she not?" vibe going throughout the story, it became completely meaningless when Rosalind's true intentions were revealed a second before her death. Plus, I already knew she was a bitch from the start, I knew to never believe Bloom's dumbass and just go with my gut.
Sebastian was a mediocre villain in my opinion. His plot twist was surprising, yet he just was NOT the right villain for this story. Bloom had a chance to kill him when she pulled him to that car park (?) after the exchange and yet she didn't? even though it would save everyone and no one would blame her for it?
I am not done raging about this show. The exchange was stupid to me.
Let me explain this in a simple way; you give an ancient book which is the key to summoning fairy-eating monsters to the literal bad guy to learn how to help your friend. That isn't a good exchange, not because it's an ancient book that can ruin the world, but because of what the bad guy gave you. He told you "You can either force me to give up the power, or kill me" WHICH IS THE OBVIOUS FUCKING ANSWER. Of course you'd need to force or kill the villain for the power, he's not going to just give his enemy the solution to ruining his plans.
You see why I believe that was such a dumb exchange? it resulted in NOTHING. Granted, Bloom did learn a bit about Dowling and her birthplace, but it would have been better to just ask him for that instead.
This show could have stood on it's own if the writing was good and the conflicts were executed better.

I agree this season was better. Bloom and Riven were a liiittle less intolerable. I honestly liked Musa's storyline and her becoming friends with Riven. Still hate that Terra exists, especially when Flora was added to the show after all. Should have just done that from the beginning. Her character is so stupid, she makes me so mad. This whole Andreas thing... so pointless. Also, I'm still salty that there's no Brandon.
Have you watched the cartoon? You would understand a lot more if you watch it, Bloom behaviour was exactly the same this season: she's egocentric, its all about her...
musa is my fav character both in the original and the live action show and to me she had the most interesting storyline out of all the characters this season. im sorry but terra is so annoying to me and this season was even worse like, nothing wrong with her being lesbian i just didn't like the way they build her storyline, but i do ship her with the specialist they're cute together
